Thank you so much, about a third of the way through I heard / felt a tiny little *click* and when I finished the practice my SI was back where it’s meant to be! It’s so incredible and I’m so grateful for this content. Also I love your meadow the birdsong and your dogs, so soothing ☺️

Hi Megan, I do hope you're feeling better now. One thing I have found that really helps me with this is to lay on stomach with 2 blocks under hips and move pelvis in clockwise movements. The movement with gravity helps to realign things pretty quickly for me. I hate to see people struggling with this! I really wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Thanks so much. I did this type of movement the past five days and can say this morning when I woke the pain was down from 100% 3 days ago to about 50%. I am also walking a lot and putting extra swagger and sway into my gait! I have not tried the 2 blocks but think what I do with the ball under my belly at the end of the video must be similar; thanks for the tip!

I return to this practice everytime my SI joint goes out, it usually only takes a few days of this practice before it goes back into place. As someone who's had herniated discs and spinal surgery I really appreciate you and your healing tools. Thank you so much 🙏💜

Thanks Lea, it was raw and real sharing this as it is my go to when my SI goes out. I remember the first few times it happened thinking I could not move. Then I learned to trust my body and find what feels good. I am glad you did too. 🙏

Hi Deborah, thanks for the vote of confidence; it was some sneaky video editing cutting out the parts where I went from sitting to lying down and visa versa 😳🥹 a feeling better now though and hope it helps you too!

I have struggled with my SI joint since my pregnancy two years ago. My left side too! I was hobbling because of my left ankle through the pregnancy and now everything is a bit off! I found some new gem stretches and activation exercises here! And Thankyou so much for the slow pace!

Thanks for finding me and commenting Miriam. Yes, pregnancy can be straining on the SI joint as everything shifts to make room for the miracle…or in my case 3 miracles at once and lots of stretching! I hope these help you. Peace, Megan

Hi Megan I have hyper mobility/si joint dysfunction and do a range of your vidz for management and release - I’m wondering if you could post a shorter vid that I can do daily before work to keep my si from jamming up (along with the strengthening exercises my physio has me doing - these already take 30 mins).. thanks again for your wonderful vidz which help me immensely

Thanks for commenting and suggesting. I think what might be best is if there are one or two things that help you the most, let me know. There are many approaches to the SI joint from “realigning” to stabilizing (perhaps that is what you are already doing with PT work?). I know with mine, what works best changes depending on if it is in alignment but sticky, “slipped out”, or if the supporting muscles are just being buggers and need to be turned off (the opposite of strengthening). That’s long but I hope it helps. 🙏

Also, I forgot but I already have a video in the pipeline that’s a 50 minute “Space and stability” for SI joint. Will be out in the next month.

@@MeganMacCarthy Thanks Megan I was thinking of a daily morning routine to stop it "slipping out" as it is wont to do from time to time. Your fixes work well but I am not sure which moves work best as it seems to be a combination eg your "...SI Joint went out ...". Usually I do that first then the Balancing Sacrum vid next day and the day after maybe the Psoas or QL vidz. After about 3 days of those vids I seem to be okay for a while, utnil the next time!
@MeganMacCarthy

Sounds like you found a good pattern. It is good to mix it up, as opposed to targeting an area or muscle. Fidn the parts to feel the whole! Perhaps see what my upcoming video on the SI joint offers you, and pull out what you need each day. @@kiwozok

Hi Megan, this helped me a little. But my right side always feels stuck.. I can put most of my weight on left side with no issue. But the right side hurts with very little weight/pressure. Any further tips ? I didn't really have SI joint issues.. until I had an accident in November and all sorts of injuries have been diagnosed since then, including an annular tear in my lower spine, several bulging discs touching on a nerve in the lower spine and bulging discs in the cervical spine pressing onto nerves too. In addition plantar fascitis and tennis elbow were also diagnosed. I also have permanent knee injuries with level 2 cartilage damage / patellar tracking issues. Thank you for any help ♡

Thanks for connecting and for your desire to find movement as a tool for self healing. You have shared a number of different issues that can be addressed with Somatic yoga, but not in one video. In order of importance: start gently with exploring any movement that does not cause or increase pain. It may be movements that initially stay away from the more grumpy parts; something that feels pleasant, or at least not unpleasant. Many of my videos on yoga for back care are simple and gentle. You could start there. Or do something for a space in your body that feels good already. Let me know how it goes. Thank you. Would you recommend any of your videos for torn labrum pain? I tried “Happy Hips,” but I have very limited ROM in the affected hip. My clamshells would embarrass even the tiniest splat of a clam. Thank you again.
@MeganMacCarthy
@MeganMacCarthy Жыл бұрын
Hi Debra, thanks for asking, but what I will say is a small clam is perfect. Avoid end range of motion the hip in all movements including flex toon, extension and internal rotation. Pain is a stopping point with labral tear. If it was my body, I might let it heal and focus on core work for now. 🙏

I have SI joint dysfunction. But im wondering if this is applicable and could make it worse for me. I have confimed ligamentopathy in my right SI Joint. Both joints are unlockable. My PT i just started is focused on strengthening the irritating the small hip flexor muscles to help take the pressure off the SI. Im also looking into shockwave therapy. I also have tendinopathy in those muscles which are irriated due to the SI. So, it goes back to what kind of SI issues is this video applicable for? For someone like me who has SI ligamentopathy and tendinopathy, is this going to help or could it even make it worse?

How do I really know if my SI joint is off. I do have pain on the right side of my sacrum. When I do these moves I feel slight pain on the right side only. I guess I am afraid I could injure it more because I do feel pain. I love somatic movement and really want this to help. I had an MRI on my lower lumbar spine recently to rule out herniated disc. They found edema on my sacrum which they thought was odd. I feel pressure there a lot.

Hi Cristy, Thanks for commenting and I hope the video brought you some relief. I am sorry but I am unable to confirm if it is SI joint dysfunction. Please follow your instinct in doing any practices in a way that you feel safe. Peace, Megan
