We are back at it responding to your comments and questions via this monthly video series. I love reading and responding to your comments and as you can tell I'll jump into the comments section with a reply or a heart quite often. If one of the questions I answered was not detailed enough or you want more info on the subject please let me know so that I can make a dedicated video giving you all of the info!
A couple favorite questions/comments from this video are
1) What's the deal with recreational marijuana
2) Should I create Merch?
3) Should I start a PO box?
4) Why is it bad to say "quiet" in a hospital?
5) How to increase your height naturally?
6) Is it normal to talk during my sleep?
7) Tongue depressors?
8) Cardio without legs?
9) What are Roxy and bear upto?
Doctors are traditionally unreachable and I want to change that. So hop into this video’s and any other of my video’s comment section and ask dr mike! I want to see your username pop up on my next responding to comments video.
If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series in a couple of weeks so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Sleep talking/walking happens when we dream while in stages of sleep deeper than REM, which means it's really rare and most common in kids. it doesn't happen in REM because that stage is so light your body paralizes itself so you don't act out the dream and wake yourself up. ONLY WAKE UP A SLEEPWALKER IF THEYRE IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION! THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY THEY WILL FREAK OUT WHEN THEY SEE THEYRE NOT IN THEIR BED AND CAN ATTACK YOU!!! I'm taking a phycology class, considering being an EMT

I think people don't give him enough credit on how great a doctor he is. He doesn't immediately judge anyone who self-medicates with alcohol or weed - he's honest on how it may affect the body depending on usage, age, and personal bodily affects. It's even better than he's open to continued learning and doesn't stick to one view.

Yeh, it definitely is. I tried a bong for like the third time in my life, and nearly passed out as I wasnt used to it, I couldnt move my body, I couldnt breathe, and I think the lack of oxygen and the hit I took was probably what made me delirious. I thought I had died, whilst I was talking to my friends. It was an awful experience. I NEVER thought that marijuana could have an effect on someone like that, but the combination of how we ingested it, being inexperienced, maybe the strain, and it being a drug that just doesnt generally sit well with me (bar a few times) made it a very unpleasant experience. It was terrifying. Thankfully one of my friends was quite good at dealing with the situation, the other one was shaking as he could see that I'd just nearly lost consciousness and I physically was unable to breathe.

Im a med patient for depression/anxiety/cptsd and the way me and my team look at it is that it’s a solution to keep a tolerable quality of life while I work on recovery. Ideally it’s a temporary solution and it’s a balance between physical health and mental health. I think it’s super important to be informed! It’s important to know the effects and risks of all meds you take weed included. I fully understand the negative effects smoking will have on me and understand the trade offs I’m making! Having medical professionals talk about and destigmatize the mythos around weed is so important.

Street weed and medical cannabis are not the same the medical cannabis is cultivated to be more medical beneficial than natural cannabis and street weed often has other drugs and chemicals in it to make a unique blend to make it so you can't get your fix from another dealer who sells it cheaper because their weed won't give them the same fix as its a different blend. All in all don't don't Street weed or natural weed only the medical cannabis doctors prescribe is actually safe and beneficial.

As someone who struggles with social anxiety, major depressive disorder, and cptsd, marijuana has helped me in my mental health journey by helping me curb my anger. It gives me the chance to stop and think, its been very helpful in building skills. Now, when im sober, i can keep my cool, and make better, less dangerous decisions for myself. Weed has been a game changer along with DBT therapy. I would not be as far as i am without BOTH in tandem.

Medical marijuana has changed my life. I have systemic mastocytosis and it has been really beneficial. Trying to work in the hospital during covid while having constant allergic reactions, living in an apartment with no cell service or WiFi, it was hell. I went from clutching my epipen at all hours of the day to being able to work 12.5 hour shifts in covid rooms and being able to actually make a difference was amazing. Just one little draw off of a vape before bed and I was good to go.

@K C actually when looking at the physiological interactions between cannabis and the endocannabinoid system in our bodies, it shows how therapeutic THC and CBD are. Not to mention the hundreds of cannabinoids yet to be researched. Truth is cannabis has been a part of human history since the dawn of civilization.
@0tolerance583
@0tolerance583 3 жыл бұрын
@K C there is a lot to be said about stereotype threat. That is a legitimate textbook term. Just the peer pressur of your statement is discouraging any progress. I believe recreational use is medicinal. Cannabis is so therapeutic some scientists believe we need it to supplement our newly discovered endocannabinoid system. It has been a part of human history for so long that we have a symbiotic relationship. The lack of ambition could actually be a result of a deeply depressing human existence with little purpose other than the propaganda of limitless materialism and planetary domination.

Swimming coach here. Yes on the swimming. He could either swim with no flotation device, use a pull bouey between his legs, or use a small swimmer's tube on his ankles. He only needs a device if he is a sinker, as otherwise his legs might naturally float behind him. Sprinters kick a lot, but distance swimmer's kick much less, and basically practice just using their core muscles to employ their lower body to counter balance their arm movements. Love your channel, Dr. Mike!

I've had some trouble learning how to swim, as I'm always sinking but I have full use of my legs. What do you suppose I do to help me learn how to swim?
@MotionMechanic
@MotionMechanic 5 жыл бұрын
@@QueenVictoria26 , let's try an experiment. If of you l lay in the water face down and hold your breath, straighten out your waist and hold your hands out to your side, do your legs rise or fall? If your stomach is relaxed and your legs sink, your body may have a high bone and muscle density, causing you to sink. The test won't be accurate if your stomach muscles are tight, because that will pull your legs downward. If your legs do float up, then the issue may be that when you are swimming, you may be that you are flexing (bending) your ankles on the downward sweep of the kick, which will be like putting in the brakes in a car, causing you to show down, stop, or even go backwards), or that you are simply making a very deep and large kick. Ideally, in Freestyle, you want to have a small, shallow, fast kick, originating from the hips, with toes pointed and knees mostly straight, making turbulence as you go along.. If you can't fix it, try using fins, they may make the kick too big, but they will tire out your ankles and make them relax. Good luck and let us know how this works!

I really appreciate this view on medical cannabis. I suffered a traumatic brain injury 4 years ago and had only a total of 27 minutes without pain over the first 2 years with the injury. Without cannabis my pain level was at a 9 with limited cognitive capacity. With cannabis (prescribed by my PCP in a legal state) pain went to a 4 and I could perform my ADL's again. For me, it was actually a lifeline stopping seizures and returning the partial blindness that would occur during a particularly bad attack. That said, there came a time later in recovery where I had to learn how to curb use so that I got the still-necessary benefits but not so often as to impair otherwise normal function. It is a balancing act. Like anything else, it can be used to cover your symptoms or to treat them- its up to how you use it and what other co-treatments you follow that makes the difference between the two.

Having tried sleep medication for long-term insomnia (in combi with depression and physical pain) but getting terrible side effects from it, I asked my GP if it was okay if I tried vaping weed. We had a great talk about it; the possible addiction and using the right kind, experiences up till now. And we decided to have me use it 3 max 4 times a week, to not become dependent, and it really helps me calm down, feel less pain and stress, and thus fall asleep easier. And feel somewhat better during the day.

honestly, i really love this answer to what you think about weed. you may know my stance on it already. or should be able to guess at least. but i genuinely respect this stance because we really don't have that much research on it, it's relatively new to the general public and we cant definitely say it's bad or good. also, i like how you said the fact that it's even up for debate to legalize it means it isn't as bad as people thought it was because if it was as bad of a drug as the PSA's in the 70 our parents listened to it wouldn't be up for debate. i really like this open-minded opinion about it.

Cells at work is an anime currently airing that has become known for very accurately depicting how different body functions work and how it reacts to different antigens. It’s available on Crunchyroll.

The thing that made Cells at work more enjoyable then it was for my friends was i understood most of the refferences and the personafication ( how is it spelled?) Of the different cells and their job so i was like "oh thats how they are interpreting it" Realy liked it, very special anime

I remember seeing an article written by a cancer researcher praising the show for the accuracy of the cancer episode in how the body reacts to cancer cells. Very interesting stuff. And my god the platelets

The secret "quiet code" is similar to the "don't mention rain or bad weather" in te swimming pool industry. Whenever someone does, even if there is great weather in the forecast, once it's mentioned. The bad weather appears when out in the field working/building a swimming pool.

Oh my god yes, please watch Cells at Work! It’s a Japanese Cartoon, subtitled and streamed legally on Crunchyroll, about anthropomorphized Cells living their daily functions inside the body! Episode 1 and 2 are solid 30 minute experiences, going over basic anatomy and function of White Blood Cells and Platelets... But Episode 6 and 7 have been praised, as a two parter, first explaining the development of Blood Cells in the Bone Marrow, and later exploring how Cancer is created and spreads, following copying errors in the body!
