I Love how sigma and tamron tranformed the whole sony system in the span of more or less a year. When i Got into the Full Frame system there was just the 70-300 when you want more reach on a budget. But that lens just did not cut it for my needs (no tripod collor, and 300 not really enough) so I changed it to the 70-200F4 wich i really love. But still i want to go longer and the 200-600 is way to big to take it everytime when i go Hiking. Now with the Sigma 100-400 is the perfect lens there for wildlife and landscape. As soon as i get the money together i will pair it with the 70-180 and i will have all of my tele needs covered. Just love what those two companies are doing

I just sold my 70-200gm and replaced it with the 70-180. Very happy with it. The GM is beautiful when it nails focus but I did get occasional back focused shots. The smaller size of the 70-180 is very welcomed. It actually fits in one of the lens slots of my camera backpack (lowpro 450)

I'm actually thinking about saving up and replacing my Tamron 28-70mm with the Sony or Sigma 24-70mm. The vignetting is particularly bad and lightroom lens correction doesn't improve it much when I was doing some astrophotography and applied images tacking. It was very noticeable and pronounced. Never had this issue on my a6500 and Sigma 16mm f1.4. Thoughts, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

The capabilities and price points of the Tamron E-Mount lenses increase the value of the E mount and lower the barriers to entry for the system. I didn’t get the far more expensive 24-70 GM because of the 28-75 for example and it’s fine after the video AF firmware update. The Tamrons also have surprisingly close focusing range, so much so they almost have macro capability.

I have all 3 and love them. I think the 28-75 is the best, followed by the 17-28 then the 70-180. Although I’ve had the 70-180 the least time so it’s still growing on me. I don’t think the telephoto one is as sharp as the other two, but the autofocus speed is incredible. Very pleased overall with the set though!

I’m very surprised by your “lesser” thoughts on the 28-75. My copy is the second sharpest lens I’ve ever used (second to the 135 GM which is in a league of its own). All my other primes I’ve had experience with are not as sharp as the 28-75 (no other g masters but experienced the f1.8 35, 50 and 85 lenses from Sony).

Been debating on what lens to get next. Rocking 16-35gm 55 zesis1.8 and 70-200mm f4 g. Wanted to get rid of f4 and 55 and get 24-70 sigma and a 2.8 long lens hopefully sigma. But this video was 🔥

I would like to see a Tamron 200-550mm f4.5 /6.3 and the great all around 35-150mm f2.8/4 lens , a Sigma 150-600mm f5/6.3, and the APS_C duo 18-35mm f1.8 , 50-100mm f1.8 . Also some macro lenses for the mirrorless mounts before the end of 2020 please. Thanks

I have a A7R III with a Tamron 28-75 and 70-180 . They are both AWSOME ! I got all of them a week ago, at black friday pro in my country (Romania) for great prices : 2200$ the body(regular price 3000$) + lenses 750$(regular price 850$) and 1200$ (regular price 1500$). You just can't get any other system that good at that prices. Maybe I will get the 17-28 in the future too, hope is as good as the other two.

Hi, I could not find any review of the sony 70-350mm lens that came out about 1 year ago. Did you do one? I could not find a review of this wonderful lens that I was able to buy for under $900 and is just wonderful. So many of these huge lenses are expensive and not compact. This sony 70-350 is phenomenal.

I think I'll try to get the sigma 14-24 2.8, Sigma 24-70 2.8, and the tamron 70-180 2.8 That sounds like the best compromise between performance and price...

Just a heads up, Sigma almost holy trinity shooter and the 70-180 was just not for me, ended up returning it. Really wanted OSS, not a compromise I was willing to make. Hoping for the Siggy 70-200 this week!

i use it on my A6500 and it works great, it is not a stabilized lens so you may have to up your shutter speed a bit if you are not on a 6500 or 6600, with my 6500 i have gotten usable images at 1/60 at 180mm which is a 270 mm FF equivalent. real world i probably would not drop my ss that low but i was testing how low i could go at the zoo

70-180 is a great lens, with everything being canceled i have not gotten to use mine as much as i would have liked to. when you start shooting sports you will have to tell us as a 70-200 GM owner if you really miss that last 20mm, with it being lighter will it make tracking people easier, and if the loss of lens stabilization messes with your shutter speed or workflow

If it was a 24 to 70/75 I‘d buy the tamron in a heartbeat. Because of the huge difference in price between the tamron and the sigma I probably still will and sell it at some point when the sigma has come down in price

Only use Sony lenses myself, it's all about that Pro Support! Although they don't cover the 85mm 1.8, it's just not 'pro' enough apparently!

Great video. I have the Tamron 17-28mm, the sigma 24-70 and the Tamron 70-180 as my trinity. All work flawlessly with my A7r3. I do hate that many people blast the tamrons as "not for professionals" because of their price. The truth is these lenses often outperform their gmaster counterparts. For example I went with the Tamron 70 to 180 not because it was cheaper but because I had previously rented the g master and it did not perform well at all. I've actually rented the g Master multiple times and each time I am disappointed with the performance compared to "cheaper lenses".... In terms of build quality yes the sonys are much better but not in terms of performance. Also with the sigma 24-70, the build quality matches the Sony but the performance beats it. I'm personally excited for the sigma 70-200. Tldr; these are not great lenses for the price, these are great lenses period - the price just makes it all the more better.

I just switched from tamron 17-28 to sigma 14-24 because I often want to get a little wider. Now I'm not sure if that was a great idea. Tamron is way better in terms of auto-focus, filter possibilities, close-focusing possibilities, I even find the flares to be nicer (for video). Plus the distortion is really bad at 14mm. For video, we won't care if the lens is just a tiny bit sharper... I guess I just really needed 14mm instead of 17mm

I have the Tamron trinity. If I had the 70-200 f2.8, the only reason I'd sell it in favour of the 70-180 is if I needed the extra money to get a 200-600 as there's not an alternate to it at the moment. I really hope that Tamron makes an E native 150-600 is lens.

I had to return the 70-180 unfortunately. Telephoto needs IS in my opinion. In body is not enough. I noticed with my a7riv photos being blurred at settings my nikon 70-200 and g2 70-200 didn't have issues with. The A7riv magnifying any minor shaking issues too. Hopefully the sigma 70-200 being released has IS

For photos, the tamron line up is good for the a7iii. If you have more resolution, the sigmas are better. The 28-75 is soft on the a7riv

I've heard great things about the Sigma which wasn't an option when I got mine. The 70-200 just seems to have a lot of problems with back focusing from what I'm seeing.

Just bought the 17-28, dissappointed by the image quality, most of all in photos. It's a "ok" video lens. The image in stills is not even comparable with the 24gm, or the 35 f1.8.

Great for price, 28-75 focus is not as fast focusing as Sony glass. Slightly worse but great lens for the price.

tried 28 to 70 but colors are off and the focus is not the best it hunts frequently. changed it for sony G master 16 to 35 nothing to compare to its simply the best
