Hi Katharine ! From your videos I noticed that you are very close to the nature . Plum , peony , bloom, orchard ..blossom I ´d like to mention about dendelion , if you write it dent de lion that means in French Tooth or teeth of lion . To desribe the divisions in its lieves . Effervescent is a word that I learnt first when I was student in pharmcy ( France) to discribe a kind of tablets . I didn’t knew that it was in use in english too . Thank you for the way you teach us that so lovely vocabulary !❤❤

I tend to like Anglo-Saxon words more often than not. Possibly, my absolute favorite English word is "cloud". Then there are things like "wield" and "cleave/cleft/clove" (wonderful!), and "twain" and"throes"...

I love the Word pudding, actually we are using a lot of English words in every day life in Egypt, and pudding is pudding in Egypt, I have memories with pudding and grandmother as well.😃. in my childhood, I was about 16 years old, and our granny lived with us in Alexanderia in Egypt. I loved to surprise her doing for her pudding almost 3 times a week. but she didn't know when. she loved my pudding. I remember some times my mother have done for her pudding, but my granny preferred my pudding, and that makes me happy. 😁

A truly exciting topic - been wondering what my favourite English words are since secondary school, when I started learning English. Anyway, to echo your choices: 1. mine would be "plummet", the verb, in relation to the cost of living; 2. "lollipop" - two sweet open back rounded vowels, kinda plosive, just like pop; 3. how about "plum pudding"; 4. "orchid" for me, flowery complexity, bizarrely shaped and coloured. I used to mispronounce it saying /ʧ/ rather than /k/; 5. "Glisten" makes me think of Glam Rock musicians like Garry Glitter, Slade, David Bowie. Sparkling, flashy, twinkling effervescent generation! 6.Many years ago I travelled to Belize to work as an interpreter. We stayed for a fortnight on the Island of San Pedro. Had lobsters every day - five US dollars a pop in those days. Local fisherman caught them by setting tricky lobster traps. 7. "gobsmacked" for me. I like the word "gob". Like: “Cor! You don’t like lobster! Just pop it up your gob and think of all the poor people in Belize!” 8. dandelion is nice, yet, for me it’s "lily-of-the-valley"; 9. “Now that lilacs are in bloom, She has a bowl of lilacs in her room, And twists one in her fingers while she talks” … T.S. Eliot “Portrait of a lady”. 10. great choice! A glass of ice cold effervescent Moet & Chandon and a chip butty (or lobster for that matter).

By the time we reach 10th word, it feels like packing the bags and be there in London. But things are not that easy especially when you have to make laws to detain and deport illigaly migrated people. That suggests how difficult it is to get their legally. It will be a miracle if I get the aportunity to work with British law firm as advocate or at least in house counsel to start with. Please wish me luck. And promise me to take British accent classes personally.😊
