My kitties eat a combination of raw (that i make but fear I'm missing some nutrients) canned and kibble. They used to eat feeder mice once a week when they were little. But i would like to reintroduce it to them. One of the three started refusing it. We moved and it's been a while. They'd only eat it outside bc they'd have WAY too much fun playing with them before eating. Now we have a new cat (~6mo) and he's never been fed feeder mice only the combo. How do I get them to eat it without flinging it all over the place?

Jessica, I have a question. Rocky is still on Viva Complete, however I want to introduce whole prey. But first, Rocky first caught a mouse one night that got into my apartment. He brought it to me while I was sleeping. The poor mouse had been played with so hard it was knocked out. No blood, no bite marks. So would I cut open the abdomen with meat shears of a whole prey (I'm thinking mouse) so Rocky could smell the blood to help him recognize it as food? What would you do in that situation?

Hey Jess, one of my cats has finally accepted whole quail chicks and mice as food! Thank you for all the advice you've given on introducing whole prey! I have another question for you. How much freezer space do your larger orders of feeders take up? I found a place up here in Canada who has a good deal on small rats and day old chicks, but I have no frame of reference for how much space 180 rats and 280 chicks will take up. Do your feeders fit in your freezer along with anything else you have in there or do you keep them in a chest freezer?

How did you get Jericho to eat whole prey? My cat is currently on a ground and chunked raw food (and loves it) but I’m not sure he would go for whole prey. He can be a picky eater and I don’t want to get a bunch of whole prey and have it go to waste.

Jess and Jericho, thank you for sharing who you buy whole foods from. Currently, Avery and Dirk are still eating lightly cooked raw food. They love your chicken and beef recipe!! ❤ When I have more resources, I'd like to explore these options!! Do you ever need to add supplements, or does Jericho get everything he needs with small prey?

Hi Luna. What do you feed your cat ? Mines picky and I wanted to try something besides processed wet cat food. Both mine are strictly indoor cats do eat the mice they catch that sometimes invades my home .

@@sunnydaisy5906 I feed him a pretty big variety of food following the 80/10/10 ratio. He gets pork shoulder, ground beef, or chicken for the main muscle meat. Pork heart as half of his muscle meat to ensure he has enough taurine. Then I give him pork kidney and beef liver for organs but I’m hoping to change it up soon. Then I give him a calcium supplement because I don’t give him bone and a kelp supplement for iodine. I also give him a vitamin e supplement and mussels for manganese. Then he gets a big variety of fish for omega 3s. I know it sounds like a lot but it’s really not that difficult as long as you do a little bit of math at first. I also only meal prep once a month. I hope this helps!

Aww I always love hearing about Avery and Dirk's progress!! Unfortunately there is a lot of guessing when it comes to whole prey. We don't have an analysis on all nutrients they provide. I still have to formulate a 100% whole prey diet. But for now he is eating whole prey along with complete viva raw.

For the Cold Blooded Cafe she said they use CO2

Yes most euthanize based on AVMA guidelines which is to use co2. Cold Blooded Cafe specifically also freezes them instantly after that with dry ice.

Human grade means that it comes from a farm/slaughter who processes food for human consumption - USDA and FDA inspected. However, a raw pet food supplier also processes food not meant for human consumption, as mention in the video. So no, you would not buy from a raw pet food supplier and eat the food.

i never understood why we dont feed our cats and dogs raw food? like people complain about fake meat so why do we force feed it to those we care for most? its sad. same with like the people who say "its icky" as if you arent gonna order form mcDonalds later like one is way less cruel then the other....

I always remind people that there are dead animals in all types of cat food. And yes, processed food is the worst of it all!
