I loved this! I've just ticked over a year of BUJO. Sometimes you think you suck at it, you beat yourself up thinking you can't do it or that you think you've totally failed - especially when you see all the polished versions across social media. To see how you started and all the different variations you've been through on your journey is really comforting and makes me feel better about my first year. Not many influencers share their beginnings so it was great to see you share yours. I'd love to see more in the future as a follow up. :)

Great video, Mark! Thanks for sharing. I've been using a bullet journal for a few years and some days my pages look really "cool" and "creative" and other days, they are pretty much just lists of things I need to get done. I think the important thing is that the journal work for YOU. There is nor right or wrong. (Thank goodness!) Thanks again for sharing. I look forward to seeing more of your flip-throughs!

I love this video. I haven’t done a bullet journal since 2020 or 2021? I got tired and unmotivated of making spreads so I went back to the ones you can buy at the stores but now am feeling like they aren’t fitting my needs (I went through 4 different planners last year 🤭). So going back to bullet Journaling. I was looking through my old bullet journal and looking at my spreads and seeing the things I was trying out and then watching this video and seeing I’m not alone in the process. I’m not a great artist so mine is more functional. I leave my art practices in my sketchbooks where I make mistakes and learn. I leave them out of my bullet journal. I tried and the art I made just took up space I wanted in my bullet journals. I just grabbed one of my notebooks last night and made this week’s spreads and the month of June. There is just something about being able to adjust each day and/or week to your liking. And I learned that bullet Journaling means that you have to be ok with making mistakes like getting the dates wrong.

Bullet Journaling is a skill and a practice. As much as people like to add their own flair, I strongly believe that we need to focus on the basics and then add on. It's a notebook for active working - and we mess up, cross out, and evolve ideas.

Thanks for the video, Mark. I smiled at the page of you brainstorming names for your social media presence. Years ago when I was really into bullet journaling, I was a member of a few Facebook groups. Somebody there mentioned that us guys were BroJo's. I always go back to that term. LOL! You've inspired me to pick up a bullet journal again perhaps. :)

About trackers, i think that if a tracker is empty it's because u dont want to do the activity for the good reasons. Maybe be more specific in your goals, more realistic, more accountable, more motivated. For exemple, instead of "workout", choose a physical activity that u may enjoy (dance, walk, run, stretch...) or just one exercice (squat, plank...) and track that special activity. Oh and i forgot : thanks for ur videos and sharing, it's really instructive.

Funny to see the mountains because I started a page with squares for every weight onmy losing weight path to 95kg to 70kg and each square was the number in a different "font" (more like my own way to draw the number, for exemple I used two arabic symbols that looks like numbers to write 92 on a desert bacground) and every time drawing a nature background with often mountains.. all with pencil and playing with colors like sometimes complementaries.

Thanks for saying the truth. How functionnal it is to track the weather.. I was think the same these days about movies, book.. when its that you want to see or read is already a bit strange.. but I even heard in a bujo channel, movie that ive watch, book that I read.. are you afraid to forget that to watch this or that movie.. ?? I feel theres a lot of things that seems just to put things in it.. As you you say, just put things if it makes sens.. I personnaly wright the strict minimum that serves me..

As someone who would also fail a workout tracker... instead of a tracker, use a “gold star” approach. Put a big star or yay! Or something that indicates a victory on the day you do it rather than focusing on the days you don’t with a tracker.

Question: why do you not just draw out your grid spacing sheet on an empty page in your journal and cut it out and bring it with you to all your subsequent journals? You must have an empty page from each type you use and can keep migrating them rather than redrawing it every time. Also, shout out to the new bullet journal vol 2 that already has a spacing page already drawn put and included! Yay!
@markyourpages

I only just started doing this in my past square one, so it didn't convey to this new A5. I also like having it just back there. Nothing to lose or slip out unintentionally.

Seems like you could really benefit from using the alistair method where you have all your weekly tasks written out on the same page with your dailies to have a quick overview of your week.
@markyourpages
@markyourpages 4 жыл бұрын
So... you are the first person to mention it having that name! I've only ever known it as a running task list. Thank you!
@sistergoldenhair0727
@sistergoldenhair0727 4 жыл бұрын
@@markyourpages it is different from a running task list. I wish I could upload a pic here. It is a grid where you have M|T|W|TH|F|S|S Across the top and you have any tasks down the side and then you put a dot when you start the task and keep adding dots each day and then put an X when you finish the task, that way you can see when you started and finished something and you are only writing down the task once unless you have to migrate to the next week. I also use this for my Future Log. Instead of wasting several pages on this i put J/F/M/A/M/J/J/A/S/O/N/D across the the top and then any future thing down the side and just put an X on the month and my entire future log is on one page. When you want to use one book for one year you do a lot of things to condense information:)

I know I’m years late to this video but a bit confused on Weekly vs Dailies. In your Dailies chapter of the video, you’re showing a bunch of weekly spreads. Is weekly and daily an interchangeable term for the same spread or am I missing/misunderstanding something?
