Well come ON now..if you are reacting to My Way you HAVE to also react to Sydnie Christmas' version. She recently won BGT and this was her semi final song. Last week she was invited to perform My Way at the David Foster Birthday Party. She got very positive words from David and a standing ovation from the audience

People don't realize prime Sinatra was an insane voice. He had ridiculous breath control, a master of self modulation, his tonal quality is superb, and his phrasing ability is iconic, when people in the industry who've worked with him, recorded him as an artist they were consistently amazed by his abilities because they seemed so natural, but he worked hard to perfect his talents, a lot had to due with how he was treated starting out. He's called "The Voice" for a reason.

Paul Anka was on vacation somewhere at the French riviera and heard some guy playing it in the hotel lobby. He immediately asked if he could buy the rights for the song. From what i've heard him say he did so with Sinatra in mind. Anyway back in the states he contacted Frank who at that time was fed up with Showbiz and more or less wanted to retire. Paul gave him this song and he absolutely loved it! In fact it became his like anthem the song he ended every show with.

Just recently a 28 year old woman walked on to the stage of Britain's Got Talent on three separate occasions - the audition, the semi-final and the final. For the audition she sang "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie. In the semi-final she sang "My Way". In the final she sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". This trilogy has now become legendary and gone totally viral on the internet. If you haven't reacted to any of these I suggest it will be worth your while. Suffice to say she gave Frank Sinatra a run for his money. Her name is Sydnie Christmas. Again more recently worth watching is the video of her singing "Starlight Express".

Sinatra recorded with a full orchestra from an isolation booth. Usually Nelson Riddle He did everything all the way through in 1 take. Sometimes like in " That's life" it was 2 takes. No editing cutting or pasting. Once in a while he might have done a fast run through for a sound check. But...he was mainly doing a " Live performance " in the studio. They remastered some early mono and other versions latter. A great talent. Saw him live in Vegas along with Buddy Rich many moons ago. Tickets were around $200.00 then. In todays money OMG. A great talent!! 🙂 I was a remastering engineer for RCA in Camden and NYC for many years. But Sinatra was on Columbia and Reprise records.

I read a thing once. When she was about to start her career, Deana Martin, Dean’s daughter, asked Frank should she try to sing like Frank or like her dad. Supposedly Frank told her the difference was that when he, Frank, opened his mouth he knew exactly what was about to come out. When her dad, Dean, opened his mouth he had no clue what was about to happen.

Young Latety, if you want to hear his song by a different artist, try when Elvis sings it at his last concert tour. As the story I once heard goes, about Elvis" just before his final song ask Frank Sanotra if he could sing that song. Frank said yes but he had an uneasy feeling about it so he stuck around to see how Elvis sang it. When Elvis opened his mouth there was the usual clapping, But it quickly fell away. Everyone knew something was up. No one spoke no seemed to move, FRamk had a feeling of sorrow fill him in the way Elvis sang it. When Elvis stopped singing there was silence for a short time then the clapping started. Elvis finished with the song he did to end his concerts with I cant help falling in love with you. Six mouths later in August of 77 Elvis died.

I’d love you to react to any song by SYR (Sire) they are a Celtic folk rock band from Columbia SC they have some of the best lyrics in music in my opinion Like one of my favorite lyrics of all time is from their song who are you? The lyric is what makes a man a man is his ability to stand for the indifference of good men is just as much as sin as your fools and Bragg trying to best your fellow man

A small nit pick. The thumbnail doesn't look a thing like Frank, to me. I have no idea who he is. The lyrics were written by thelegendary Paul Anka, who wrote this for Frank in 1967, sang it himself, and also led Elvis take a swing at it. It is based on an Italian tune about something completely different. A contemporary version is performed amazingly well by Sydnie Chirstmas on Britain's got Talent, her own My Way album, and David Foster's 75th birthday bash in LA a couple weeks ago.

Maggie, you notice a certain cadence or speed to his style from mid-1960's to his death. He didn't like the fast rock speed. He said the slower speed was better. Science agrees that the brain responds to classical style more calmly. He is able to be very expressive and do talking while singing this way.

I believe this performance was during Frank's comeback tour, after he retired to rest his voice. You really need to hear him at his best-the 67 recorded version of this song is a good place to start. During the 40's, he was the original Elvis-women and girls swooned over him. That said, he was a better actor than singer. Check out Man with the Golden Arm, and the Manchurian candidate.
