Thanks for watching, and thank-you for all of the positive comments and support. As I mentioned before, on this channel you will see more of my everyday life as well as hear me talk about controversial topics. I welcome debate and I expect disagreement, but I also expect respect, not only for me, but also for other commenters, and if you can't be respectful, you will be blocked. For the people who think this title is click bait because they wanted to see more of my wife and daughter and were disappointed, oh well, this is what they were comfortable with and I'm proud to show them in this manner. If you don't like me talking about things like climate change and prepping, I kindly ask you not to follow this channel as it's going to get much more heated in the coming months (no pun intended). To everyone else, thank-you, I look forward to a future of engaging discussion with you about self-reliance, nature and meaningful living.

Shawn James , love your channel a lot, and admire so much all the hard work you put into making the cabin and outhouse kitchen. Love your dog, he’s half human as he so intelligent.. I look forward to hearing more about climate change , and the environment. I live in England, I’m British by ancestry, and birth. I’m not racist , but Britain is a small Island, and we are over populated, especially having let in so many European immigrants. Big mistake! Would just love to be somewhere like the Canada, that’s less populated. You’re so lucky. Best wishes x Jenny

Anyone who thinks Shawn James is going to start showing current photos of his wife and daughters needs to think again, because he is not going to do that, and has made it clear. Seeing them in a video at all means we get to see Shawn not alone with just Cali, so it isn't click bait. :)

Having gone from 500+lbs, living in my moms house, no money , no car, and strung out on heroin, to having my own home, land , truck, and I lost 150+ lbs. Being prepared for a future I didn’t think I was going to have, is the most important thing I am lucky enough to be able to do. I watch your videos almost religiously because I respect what you’ve accomplished, and your words of wisdom are very inspiring. I’ve been a fan of ‘my self reliance ‘ since day one. You help me to see that these kinds of dreams can be a reality. No one but me can make it happen. My garden, my well, my tiny house, these are all gifts I’ve given myself. in Russia last winter we had very little snow and severe frosts. frozen plants, shrubs, rosehip, for example, and some trees. after such a winter, we did not have a single Colorado potato beetle for the whole summer), the total number of insects decreased, the birds had nothing to eat. Swifts arriving in may, were in cold weather, from lack of food, they died of hunger. ovaries of fruit trees were few, because in may it was cold and there was no one to pollinate the flowers. summer this year came a month later, and autumn came to us two weeks ago. night temperatures are only plus 6 degrees Celsius. what will happen next year??

A note on your perspective on the climate in your area. I've been gardening and working outside my entire life (57 years). From infancy where I would eat more during harvest time, than put in the bowl as a small child, till now where I still plant, harvest and preserve vegetables every year. I have noticed years of drought, years of excess moisture. Years of heat and years of cold. Winters where the snow is drifting higher than I stand, and others where all winter is a mere light dusting. Stretches of winters where it's -40c for weeks on end and others where it's downright warm. All these changes I've noticed go in cycles. Old timers, older than I can remember these cycles as far back as their childhood too. What I'm saying is that the only constant in our climate, is that it is constantly changing, is cyclical in nature, has been that way long before we got here and will continue to be that way long after we are gone. These cycles care not one bit that we humans exist, and we humans have no impact on the climate on a global scale. As an astronomer I can tell you that the cycles I remember, and that old timers have talked about, very closely follow our solar cycle. The biggest influence on the climate on a global scale on this planet is not CO2, which is by the way plant food, it is the sun, and the energy output levels that change with the 11 year cycle. The next most influential factor is actually water vapor. CO2's influence is so little, it would normally be tossed out as statistically 0%. The 210 year "de Vries" cycle, which has not been fully confirmed, and the 2400 year "Hallstatt" cycle, which has also not been fully confirmed, also hypothesize large variations on energy output of our sun. All of which would have immediate and noticeable measurable effects on our climate. What I'm getting at is simply this. The climate never stops changing, and we are not behind this phenomenon. So we should not be spending vast amounts of money trying to alter something we can not influence. All that does is cause economic and by extension personal hardship for those unfortunate enough to live in a country that has succumbed to the hysteria and false claims.
@jayoo33854 жыл бұрын
Agree. The ruling elites are carbon taxing us with the climate lies, trust me we are all paying for it through shipping costs calculated in every single item we buy and also through taxes and penalties to countries . Basically we are paying for exhaling carbon. This among many other nefarious deeds. DEW, Fires, weather manipulation, financial manipulation, wars, social engineering, brainwashing, propaganda, endless virus scares and vaccines, spraying us with poison, medical lies and etc etc. To the psychopaths, when are we ever going to get a break and just leave us to live happily. Life is too short and you can’t take it with you. When is it ever going to be enough for you evildoers. But you are probably greedy also for your progenies, for the continuation of your bloodline. Just remember there’s judgement by the Creator. And this is just about a simple canoe trip with the family. These simple pleasures are not possible if we let these psychos rule the world, they will enslave us. Wake up, we are losing our freedom, we are losing our democracy. They want people off their lands. They are causing trouble in 3rd world, causing refugee problems and opening our borders all over the world making chaos. It never ends the onslaught. Sorry for troubling your sleep, but it’s time to wake up and fight back, because enough is enough. If 9/11 has not knocked our senses then this scamdemic should.

Yes, I agree we need to be prepared. Of course, some catastrophes will strike us from causes beyond our foresight, etc. However, a lot has to do with how we use our senses, and particularly our mental state. When a catastrophe strikes, how we deal with it from moment to moment is so important.

I generally agree with you most of the time, though fire suppression, consistent high-grading of forests, and the droughts and diseases driven by climate change are creating fires that are unnatural in intensity. I know of areas where the intensity of the fires burned the root systems beneath the soil, sterilizing the available topsoil for miles. This is not what happens naturally, and needs more scrutiny. Thank you.

I'm in Florida, hurricane country. I am amazed at how few people have even one weeks worth of food and water on hand. I keep a months supply minimum art home, and another months worth at each place off site at different facilities within walking or bicycling distance. Power can be out for two to three weeks or more, depending on your part of the grid. What we now call "prepping" used to just be called common sense. Glad to see so many people getting back into it.

Love these thoughtful videos and insights. The climate has changed even from when I was younger. Growing up we had snow banks over the house roof, drove on roads where the snow was higher than the cars, and 48 blizzards where we milked by flashlight. Winter is my favorite season and its getting shorter and shorter. I've always lived in a rural area and we and a plan for a disaster, even a 24 hour power outage. I loved learning how to preserve/can food, work in the garden, and the animals came from the land and the entire animal was used. I recently heard the phrase head-to-tail eating. It was satisfying and fulfilling work and a pleasure to eat a meal completely from the land that I helped make. Now, my nieces think it's cool to do that stuff, not a necessity.

tbh I think the difference between what you do and what .. "the preppers" do is that they plan for major strife ... and live like it has happened .... while you are preparing for when things change ... as you have noticed shorter winters ... less snow stranger climate etc ... which in my opinion makes you a sane prepper ... you are more like when things change; I want to be able to adapt to that change easily and survive better .... added bonus you get tie to enjoy life and nature while sharing it all with the family

Beautiful day for being out on the water...thanks for sharing with us. My dad and one brother were Eagle Scouts. I grew up with the motto of Be Prepared. Always have the food, fuel, and other resources to handle whatever might come (e.g., job loss, blizzards, tornadoes, drought, power outage, etc). It doesn’t mean that challenges won’t happen, it’s just that you know you are able to deal with it a bit easier. To us, it was (and still is) just a common sense approach to life.

Shawn, I have to say that the 2008-2010 period was not one easily prepared for as it was based on a lie perpetrated and kept secret by large financial organisations unchallenged by governments. The loss was passed down to the many and we are still paying. I am/have been an economist, accountant and business man. I know business and finance, but that period was all from left field! I liquidated my company in Feb. 2010 to prevent the bank ramming me personally and to crystallize the loss into a known number, such that it could be and still is being dealt with. I only had 5 employees, but nevertheless I and they felt it keen, but they did not blame me. (Yet you can't help feel responsible.) Do not beat yourself up about this. Talk about it, don't deny it, but it was not our fault. Having said that, I buy in bulk, keep a store and in some small way am ready. Stay strong and enjoy your environment. After all, life is a consumption, so enjoy it to the full each day! Regards Stephen.

2009 I watched my retirement savings go to zero, zip, nada, I lost it all. I trusted the advice of someone very close to me on two investments and I lost it all. I'm extremely mechanically inclined but not a financial wizard. I learned a hard lesson in life from which I will never be able to recover from unless lady luck shines on me. 45 years of hard savings wiped out. But I was not alone, way to many friends were also hurt and some still today have not recovered their loss.

David Larson David, I am sorry to hear your story. It is an all too common one. I am still paying back the bank..... Very slowly! I have no respect for them at all. I lost about a third of my net worth in a 6 week period when the bank was being weird. I have a different perspective on life now. I have a simple job, I enjoy my family and environment and am more or less content. I hope you too can find some inner peace and enjoy your life again. Regards Stephen.

I agree with you Mr. Riley, Mr. James should come clean about how he lost and made his gains back when so many people lost and could not recover. Mr. James probably has a decent I.Q. and it's often the smart clever ones that get away with selling unethical yet legal financial products to people with less intelligence, less financial experience and insufficient personal supports. So many people loose while the smart connected ones prosper. The 'way' of the world is good for some and devastating for the vast majority. Mr. James is part of the 10% that support the 1% in screwing a plant of billions of people, or just a country of millions of people. Iceland however is among the few countries whom dealt with these money monsters correctly. They put them in jail and took everything of material value away from them. No self reliant cottages and wealthy independent lives for the financial wizards of Iceland.

The financial crisis was not hidden from the government, it was caused by the government. As I remember it the government read rewriting lenses to learn to people that they knew couldn't or wouldn't pay.
