Yes, this. And he was sooo lucky to live in an at-fault state where cheating and paternity fraud actually means something. In most US states a man who was cheated on and ended up the father of a child that isn't his is completely screwed.

@@mannydcbianco At fault has nothing to do with child paternity or alimony, there are a few states that allow a husband to get off the birth certificate and Op must live in one of them. A friend of mine is a divorce lawyer and she tells men not to make the mistake of thinking At fault, will save them. If you're going to marry you need a prenup. Op got lucky

Definitely. Cheaters always trickle-truth when their cheating is exposed. "It was only once, it meant nothing!". Then more facts surface and they shift to "it was only just those two times, I promise! I only love you, the other guys mean nothing!". Lather, rinse and repeat. The reality is that it was probably dozens if not hundreds of times.

What would the probability of someone only cheating twice, years apart, and the spouse finds out about both at damn near the same time and it was the ONLY two times you cheated? I’m guessing it’s extremely low odds…. Now if you have cheated way more than two times, now the odds of someone finding out about only two of them near the same time is a lot more likely….. Essentially the math starts mathing.

I am pretty sure that OP is the bigger victim. Yes the girl lost her father but at that age it is minimal. But he, he lost trust in every partner moving on, he lost love to children and will have skepticism to any pregnancy, he lost a family that HE took care of and most importantly he lost respect to everyone involved even himself, because it may or may not be his fault it will still chip from his soul.

For me, the saddest part was the fact that OP probably got very attached to who he thought was his daughter. I don't have any kids, and I can say for sure that finding out the child isn't mine would destroy me. That alone would be unforgivable. And on top of that, having stbxw trying to sweep it under the rug? Those are 2 lines you should NEVER cross.

That's the most heartbreaking part. The poor girl had nothing to do with any of it and nothing was her fault. Both her and the OP are undoubtably close but I can understand OP's position completely. It's just totally messed up because the ex-wife couldn't be loyal. She's the only villain here.
