Following the breakup of the Misfits, Danzig launched his new band Samhain, moving away from punk rock, and toward more experimental heavy metal with a grim atmosphere. Several Misfits songs were rerecorded for Samhain albums, including "Horror Business" (as "Horror Biz"), "All Hell Breaks Loose" (as "All Hell"), and "Halloween II". In 1986, the band signed to a major record label and Danzig replaced most of the rhythm section, renaming the group Danzig. He continues to front Danzig, who have released ten albums ranging in style from blues rock-influenced heavy metal to industrial rock, and has also released two solo albums.[citation needed]
Jerry Only and Doyle, meanwhile, moved to Vernon, New Jersey to work at their father's machine parts factory full-time. Jerry Only had married and had a daughter and became more serious about his Christian faith, regretting some of the things he had done with the Misfits. In 1987, he and Doyle formed the short-lived Kryst the Conqueror, a Christian heavy metal band with barbarian imagery.
In 1995, the parties reached an out-of-court settlement that allowed Only and Doyle to record and perform as the Misfits, sharing merchandising rights with Danzig. Collection II, a third compilation of Misfits songs, was released later that year.[citation needed]
1995-2000: Reformation and new lineup
In 1996, The Misfits coffin box set was released, containing nearly all of the band's Danzig-era material recorded from 1977 to 1983 (with the exception of Walk Among Us). The set included the incomplete fourteen-song Static Age album, released for the first time in its entirety on CD, as well as the overdubbed and alternate versions of songs that had previously been released on Legacy of Brutality, Collection I, and Collection II. Static Age was also released as a separate album the following year, including all seventeen tracks that had been recorded during the January 1978 sessions. The release of the box set and Static Age made the Misfits' complete early catalog widely available for the first time.
The new incarnation of the Misfits released their debut album American Psycho in 1997.[11] They filmed music videos for the songs "American Psycho" and "Dig Up Her Bones". The band toured Europe and North America in support of the album and appeared as characters in World Championship Wrestling. Graves took a hiatus from the band in 1998, during which Myke Itzazone of Empire Hideous filled in as singer during tours of South America and Europe. After Graves' return the band signed to Roadrunner Records, releasing Famous Monsters in October 1999 and filming a music video for the single Scream! They made additional film appearances in Big Money Hustlas (2000), Bruiser (2000), and Campfire Stories (2001) and continued to tour, but tensions between the band members began to grow. During a performance at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida on October 25, 2000, Graves and Chud both quit the band and walked off stage. The two later released an album under the name Graves before splitting up; Graves went on to sing for Gotham Road and then launched a solo career, while Chud formed Dr. Chud's X-Ward. Meanwhile, Doyle took an indefinite hiatus from performing as he divorced, remarried, had a fourth child, and dealt with tendonitis in his elbow.

The vocals are THE standout feature of the misfits imo

I think I understand what Hideous means here when he says that it didn't make a big difference that he lost his voice, because it's punk rock and he also said "no disrespect to Glenn", so it's all cool. Just wanted to point out that Glenn when he's best (at least for me) is the greatest singer ever. He could outsing Frank Sinatra anytime. No one can be as much as compared to those pipes. His vocal range was otherworldly and for me, it peaked two times: The first time was with the static age sessions. His vocal control was perfect, just perfect. The second time was when he perfected his more screaming voice around the november-coming-fire album and well into the first danzig record. Just my opinion:-)

Wow. I haven’t heard this guy sing but he sure made some ballsy comments regarding his abilities.

That comment about Glenn’s vocals was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. It sounds like he’s just bitter about the fact that the rest of the band knew that he wasn’t as good of an actual singer as Glenn OR Graves.

Misfits vocals aren't impressionable? Glenn's vocals were very impressionable. They weren't just run of the mill punk vocals. I'm not sure what this guy is talking about.

My dad is the singer for deftones. I’m glad to hear he was cool to Myke back in the day. I think he knew what it was like being the new guy on the scene and bigger bands being total dickheads to them. Never been big on 90s misfits but your interviews with Mike definitely helped gain some respect for him!

Chino is your dad !? That’s awesome. But Myke needs to realize Misfits weren’t like Black Flag(Henry era) or another punk band with garbage vocals.

My dad used to sing for White Zombie back in the 90's and I think your dad's band opened up for them a few times with Pantera, I'll have to ask him about it! F'n sick! 😅

Any DC3 fans? Dez Cadenas guitar chops go into psych rock and experimental, more interesting than Misfits riffs in my opinion. And Paul Roessler on 🎹🔥

DUDE!!! PSYCHO AND MONSTERS were pure GOLD!!!! I saw them live a few times! GRAVES WAS AMAZING AS A FRONT MAN!!! even saw the show where they broke up! Talking trash about graves is PLAYED OUT!!!! Comparing Glenn era to Graves...its 2 completely different bands! Hideous is a RAD GUY but yea... from his live stuff I heard with he band!.... Famous Monsters couldn't have been pulled off. That GRAVES era and run PUT THE BAND BACK ON THE MAP instead of just being a CULT band with a following. The GRAVES era is what lifted the band back into a spot light where THEY WERE ABLE to sell out MSG because everyone was excited and when Glenn and Jerry got over their drama... they were able to get it going. They SCREWED Graves over heavy as well! I have an inside source to LOTS of the real stuff!! But yea.... Idk why it's cool to hate the '90's-early 2000's 'fits now. Fair weather fans I suppose💁‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I mean COME ON!!! When Pete Steele is "yous guys are stupid! This kid is your guy!!" At that Halloween show! He knew! I mean look at all the terrible "Horror punk" bands out now that they and emulate it, and the old 'fits but just put out rubbish! Makes me think of Mourning Noise. Just terrible stuff! Stuff as corny as "Nestle baby killer" It's as lame as GHOST.. that's like the worst band ever to try and rip their horror stuff off but they dont even play a GOOD PUNK! it's like stuff youd hear in easy listening radio
@GilbertSyndrome

Graves is a pretty corny guy as well, tbf, if you find Mourning Noise corny. His horror lyrics were a bit more PG-13. I do agree, though, two completely different eras when it comes to Glenn and Graves.

When I first saw the Jerry lineup with Dez and Robo they had that shit up so loud so you couldn't hear Jerry singing. That's why I suspect it was done anyway. It was before Jerry became a C+ student of singing.

Here is a good idea - let's have Jerry Only sing, problem solved. Michael Graves solo song Bedlam is IMO his best.

I know I’m late to the party but I’m Gonna have to disagree with Myke here. The vocals, especially with Glenn were top notch. That was one of the main reasons they stood apart from all of there contemporaries (At least on album studio/recordings). I know they had problems with sloppy live playing and to this day Danzig cuts off his own vocals from pulling away the microphone too soon, but c’mon man. Jack Grisham, Dave Vanian , Doug Bauer, Lee Ving all good singers but they couldn’t get within a light year of how good Danzig or even Graves were. I mean Danzig sounded like Roy Orbison or Elvis on any given day, thats pretty special for a punk band.

Myke should have been the vocalist on the Famous Monsters album. Another reason I dislike jerry only. Not sure why he ditched the deserving Myke Hideous, and allowed graves to return after he bailed. They did Myke wrong.
