Oil or not depends on your needed, better put a baking paper on bottom.
Hi, thanks for the great recipe. However, not sure why my cake shrink by a lot after I turned off the steamer and it tasted like a kueh.(I have left the cake in it for 5-10mins before opening the lid.) For the egg whites, I have beaten them to stiff peak before adding to the batter. However, as the eggs that I used are smaller, I used 5 eggs instead of 4. Could this be the reason why the cake collapsed? Thank you.

Hi, thanks for coming. Do you leave a gap of the lid during steaming? Collapse problem usually not egg white will be the temperature already. You can refer to our another original flavor steam cake video, there have more explanation too.

Thank you for the fast reply! I have used a rice cooker (with steam function) and an electric steamer for this. As there are vents in the steamer lid, I didn’t further open it. I will try next time again using a pot steamer. Thanks.

Normally the cake shrink after steaming is caused by water vapor, there is too much caused the cake become heavy. Try to leave a gap on the lid, so that the steam and water vapor can release. Wish you success on the next try❤️
