In this episode I provide the history of the Geo brand from General Motors, which existed from 1989 to 1997. The entire brand were cars designed and built by either Toyota, Suzuki, or Isuzu, all joint ventures with GM. These little cars were cheap but still hold fond memories for those who owned them as their first car.
If you owned a car from the 80's to mid-2000's that you rarely see today, and would like it featured in a future episode, leave a suggestion in the comments, or email me at pomeara1234@gmail.com.

My dad was in an accident in a Geo Metro. He accidentally drove off a cliff in Southern Utah. Somehow he survived. So props to the geo metro for saving my dad.

I love my 96 Metro. I think I've only filled up the gas tank twice LOL

I worked for Toyota in the 90's. The sales staff were VERY annoyed about the Geo Prizm. It was a Corolla for less money because GM was offering incentives at the time and they were going for 1000 less than an identically equipped Corolla.

In the 80’s 1 of every 2 cars sold in the United States was a GM product. Today 1 in every 13 vehicles sold in the USA is a GM.

My sister had a Geo Storm when I was a kid. I always thought those partially concealed headlights were the coolest thing.

Had my 5 speed Geo Metro for 10 years. It was the very first "new car" I ever purchased. Over 250,000 miles with ZERO quality issues. Did nothing to it other than general maintenance the entire time I owned it. I really miss that car!

My grandpa was the development officer for the town of Ingersoll in the 80s and was a key player in bringing the Cami plant to town. Cool to see some of my home town family history on the internet. Nifty!

I had a 92 tracker hardtop that met its demise because the driver of a cement truck was temporarily blinded by the sun. I was hit sitting still and he was doing about 20 mph. I was lucky enough to only walk away with a little neck and back pain. I’m not sure about the rest of the stable but the trackers were well built.

Now that you've covered Geo, how about a video on the now forgotten GM brand çalled "Asuna"? These were sold in Canada in the late 80's to early 90's. Asuna and Pontiac in Canada also had their own versions of the Tracker.

I've owned four Geos throughout the years. I have a soft spot in my heart for those little cars, especially the Metro.

Sold my metro with just over 450,000 miles. That 3pot 5spd just didn't die, still maintained 50mph. It was without a doubt one of the best and most fun cars I've ever owned

Love my Geo Metro, I used to make 140 mile trips to Atlanta regularly on the interstate at 80 miles an hour it would use at the most 4 gallons of gas it was built like a tin can though

Don't forget the even shorter-lived Asüna brand in Canada. It was basically the same as Geo, and the Storm was called the Asüna Sunfire, the name later being given to Pontiac as the successor to the Sunbird. A 2001 Pontiac Sunfire GT was my first new car.

I remember one of the old timer parts guys at the dealership, mentioned a consumer reports article on Geo long time ago. They took a geo and a Toyota, and had people drive both of them. Everyone liked the Toyota better......then they told them it was the exact same car.....

A 1991 Geo Prizm LSi was my first new car, I kept it 12 years and 187,200 miles until I gave it to a friend as he had no car. It was a great car.
