In IIT, i have counted and found, 85% student wears glasses. 10℅ don't wear glasses but have myopia. Only 5 % or even less have perfect eyes.

Can someone explain why a child with myopia eye's worsen if they do not get glasses? I thinking I understand why regular lenses make myopia worse, BUT why does NOT getting glasses make it worse? Our pediatrician told us wearing or not wearing glasses would not make our 4 yr olds eyes progress; only that glasses help one see better.

Hello, short answer is amblyopia. Long answer: while the number does not progress if the child doesn't wear glasses, you are condemning the child to live in a world where everything is blurry for them. Imagine not being able to see faces or read it watch properly all the time. If the power is higher, they may see the world as vague shapes of different colors and shadow and light. They may get frequent headaches from trying to see better by squinting their eyes. Then ofcourse, there's amblyopia - a condition where the brain starts suppressing signals from the eye- that means the child will stop seeing from that eye. It's quite an easy decision in our humble opinion- just please make the child wear specs. It's not a punishment- for either child or parents. It's just a treatable condition.

Please do not be anxious but Please do consult an eye specialist - patients with high myopia need regular dilated eye check ups to make sure their retina is alright. The eye specialist may also do other investigations to check why the eye power is increasing. Regards

Hey, doc! I am Shafrin and from where I am the doctors I visit are not very experienced and I can't really get in contact with any professionals. that's why I need your help! Please I've been experiencing eyesight loss in my right eye (myopia) it started after I hstrained my eyes for studies. I pulled all-nighters for several days. My mom has the same kinda eye sight loss too. I have different eye shapes and some kinda black pigment is also visible in my eyes. Also, what's concerning is that my eyesight is decreasing nowadays.
