This particular car, nr 37, was mine, bought from Sedgefield Classic Cars. I was the second owner about 10years ago before I sold it around 2015 to Jaco. The original yellow color wasn't paint but a very thick gell coat. I don't know how long Jaco kept it, my guess is for about a year. The South African KCC Razzo was designed by late Rudi Malan who was also part of Cobra Cars in South Africa. It is based on the same principle as older Lotus cars for track racing or for everyday use, using a professional designed spaceframe chassis with a glassfibre body. It has VW Golf Mk1 underpinnings (engine, gearbox, wheels, fuel tank, dashboard). Later models had the Golf 3 instrument cluster in a factory designed dashboard. This one was a 2000 model with the Razzo factory designed dashboard, a Golf 1800 engine and set of Dellorto twin carburetors on rubbers (an idea by Lotus). It came with side wind reflectors but without side windows so I installed rubbers and plexiglass. It kept the rain water out for good but caused a hothouse situation on sunny days. The sunroof didn't help much, it ad more for looks than any purpose to keep the inside cool, and also made the removable canopy heavier. I later designed a window frame from aluminum, with the idea to put glass on the frames that can be removed when needed, but it turned out to be too heavy for the doors, making the doors to drop too low to close easily and I eventually gave up and sold the car because I didn't want to redesigned the whole door from scratch. Which I now regret. My whole idea was to make it an easy GT car. It was fun, fast, a real eye catcher and very light on fuel and very cheap to maintain. Fuel consumption at speeds of 120-160km/h was around 19km/litre. Anyone more interested can follow the page Razzo Cars on Fb.

Would be nice to slap a 1900cc 8V its basically a 1.8i 8V Crankshaft with 2.3 Microbus pistons machine pin height (modified), they rev quicker than 2.0 8V and are faster especially when you put a 288° cam or 282° cam, Port & Gasflow the 1.8i 8V or 1.6i Velocity head but you will need a 1.8i sub complete assembly, swirled valves, high rev kit & Bosch 350cc or 450cc injectors this setup will be making over 100kw in JHB altitude and probably 110kw or 115kw in CPT altitude 💪😁 Or you could get a 2.0 8V stroke it to 2.1 8V with a 1.9 TDi Crankshaft (knife edged and balanced) 298° cam, headwork, bigger valves and bigger injectors, Custom fabricated adapter plate for VR6 throttle body it will rev up quicker and motor will breathe better either setup will cost + - 35K

There was a debate whether this car was a 1600 or 1800. It was sold to me as a 1800 but the block says 1600. I also advertised it as a 1600. This one also has the 1st gen front bumber which suits it better, has that "Ford GT40" looks. Later models have the "merc look" bumpers. Another interesting thing is there is no Razzo choice for licensing, so the name on the license says Rambler.

The RAZZO is a no-nonsense, full-on street racer - an eye-catching, head-turning two-seater in the most passionate tradition. Based on the highly efficient but low-cost VW CitiGolf mechanical components, it comes equipped with super-light, extra rigid composite GRP body panels and a semi space-frame type sports car chassis.. The SPECS: The purpose-made chassis is fabricated, in a jig, from rectangular, square and round tubing, which provides a torsionally stiff structure. Mounting the suspension, engine and gearbox, radiator, fuel tank and other mechanical parts is a simple task, as the mountings are duplicated in the purpose made chassis to accept the Volkswagen CitiGolf (Golf 1) components. Chassis safety features include sturdy steel mounting points for dual roll bars and inertia reel seat belts, as well as side impact protection beams running under the body side sills. The windscreen frame on Roadster models incorporates a steel roll bar unit. The snug interior boasts body-hugging wrap-around seats. The interior trim kit is stylishly finished in cloth, feaux leather or genuine leather and includes a fully edged carpet set.
