I just love that they gave even a game as simple as this a serious discussion. I love these guys!

Thanks for recommending this one, Lincoln! :-) I'm definitely getting a copy of this. My group will almost surely love it.

I love the colds opens. Wish you did them every episode. Even if you have to “script” or set up a cold open, it would still be awesome. I’m sure there’s a lot of small talk while you set up the game board and camera angles that may make for good cold open material. Even just a 30 second funny/interesting story.

I kept screaming at Cabbage Patch Kids! Lol this game is awesome!

I have to come to Nikkis defense here, I was so sure of the "Toothbrush" - "George Washington" - "Cabbage patch kids" path on her first turn that I don't know how you missed it. It wasn't an issue with bad cards, her cards were great for that path.

Looks like a fun game my family would enjoy, thanks! The board and components seem like they could have a complete redesign, though and personally, I'd totally retheme it too.

Not much theme to the game, but a fun abstract all the same. Very entertaining video, guys! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!

Personally, I think they should have just scrapped the whole magic theme of the game, it's totally superfluous. Why not just call it what it is...an abstract, word, party game and leave it at that? Imagine if they had designed Just One with a fantasy theme pasted on...that's what I see when I see this, and I think the pasted on theme can be misleading. I saw the title of this video and this game is not what I was thinking it would be. They could have just as easily called it "Cosmic Links" or "Mental Connections" and it would be the exact same game. It's not that you can't have a theme...I think Codenames does a good job of instilling the thin veneer of theme that it uses, but I don't get a whole lot of "mysticism" out of this game. I like the game mechanics, and think it would be a fun party game...but I would just leave the theme in the box. Just my two cents.

personally i dislike party games and even more so when they pretend to be a board game. you could play this with a pencil and a pad of paper.

Yeah I agree. When I first saw this game I was intrigued by the name and theme. Then I watched a video and was very disappointed. Mystic Vale sounds like a way cooler game then what it actually is.

Kinda feels like the board is too small and so everyone is running over the same words multiple times. I was kinda sick of Cabbage Patch Kids and George Washington by the end.

Nikki had it perfect with her first “nostalgic” clue and I know some of you old farts were aware of the Cabbage Patch Kids phenomenon in the 1980’s. ;-)

This is an interesting game. I know game pubs like to put themes on games for sale-ability but this one didn't need it. They could have simply called it Word Trail

Why would you move the base back under the character after a mistake? Shouldn't the base simply tag along behind the character, since its purpose is to remind you that you can't go back? Covering up the words isn't a problem until the next player's turn, when you need to see the available words. Wouldn't it be helpful to also consider which of the known clue words were NOT chosen? Is it allowed to see which words were covered up?

Ooh, I just saw something cool. Putting the base and character on the link (not Linc) shows the path and doesn't cover up the words.

A nice playthrough but the game seems to have several downsides...though it's well produced the board doesn't really allow pieces to be placed that easily to keep words visible and have multiple pieces in the same area...perhaps smaller pieces and or a bigger board would be better. The other aspect is that to me it seems overly fiddly on what is essentially a guess the word by the given clue kind of game. Interesting game but I think a streamlined version would be far better
