Would be great to see a comparison between a good club swimmer and an elite swimmer

Working hard on EVF from your previous videos has made a bigger difference in my swimming than any of the other mechanical adjustments made from any other videos I've watched. best coach on the interwebs! thank you!

I liked this. Slow enough and concise for someone who is looking to improve but is not yet good or great.

Always great, easy to understand analysis - thank you. I'll concentrate on improving my catch this weekend. 👏🏻

It is a lot easier than it looks. Been practicing with hand fins and it is much easier doing EVF with them. I have also found using the parachute helps because I move more slowly through the water and can focus on the arm position. But honestly I feel freestyle is the hardest stroke to truly master. When I tell people that, they look like I have 3 heads but really, the butterfly is easier! Thanks for the tips. I always enjoy learning

@@i0bsceneFrog That is not a beginner, a beginner wouldn't even know where to begin lmao

This is more like Advanced v Intermediate, ain't no beginners this good haha 😅 beginners don't tumble turn haha; and they have their legs dragging and their breath has most of their head out of the water. I would consider myself a beginner-intermediate and the beginner here probably looks better than me 😅 but I do appreciate the video, I know what to work on now haha.

Fares has provided a lot of direction on these details over the years. What I don’t know is how to keep my leading arm up when I turn to breathe. One arm - lovely EVF, the other (when breathing) - like spaghetti. And yes I try to keep one eye in the water and not to spin too much.

Same!

Three strokes six kick drill helped me with this and swimming on my side holding that one arm up. I still get spaghetti arm sometimes but I correct when I notice it.

Should the early vertical forearm cause a different muscle group engagement than the straight arm catch?
@markymark85 ай бұрын
I found that improving my catch allowed to me engage my shoulder and back to help the pull instead of just my arm. It was difficult to actually feel because there is so much feeling stimulus happening while swimming but there was a noticeable difference in arm fatigue during laps.

Great explanation. I do find the transition from the outstretched arm to the high elbow in the water to be extremely fast, and that's where I think my more-straight arm underneath in the water happens. :(

Watched loads of vids about freestyle but can’t work out if you’re mean to rotate on both sides or just your breathing side. Not asking about breathing left & right. Question is based on a single side breath but do you also rotate to the opposite side?
@myswimpro3 ай бұрын
Taking out the breath entirely, yes, you should be rotating when you swim. When you add the breath, you'll rotate more on that one side for that breath, but that doesn't mean you'll stop rotating on the other side entirely!

Beginners body position was better because the low hands help keep your butt up. I struggled with keeping my butt up when switching to bent arm. It takes a lot of practice to ditch that habit. Closed fist pulls with a buoy helped.

I have never been able to master swimming freestyle, I can swim breaststroke and side stroke, if that is an official stroke, but the front crawl no, and I think now I'm far too old to learn it. But I really like to watch some of those fantastic freestylers returning for their third length when I'm just half way through my first.😆🤣

beginner has better body position than advanced one ..I am the beginner for freestyle and advanced for breaststroke ..half way through the session at my pool I have to change swimming lane from fast lane to slow lane ..my problem are sinking legs - i always used powerful legs to move fast in breaststroke , and struggle to relax legs when switching to freestyle ..😢

The explanation is alright. It's just that he sounds like he's expecting more from a BEGINNER. Its honestly irritating. No offense though.

Weird comment. The point of the video is to teach us good technique, so we can progress and improve from just being beginners to a more advanced level. That's the whole point of these videos. So yes, taking a beginner, showing the mistakes they're making, analyzing them and offering improvements is exactly why i clicked this video.
@yval214 ай бұрын
Right? Their beginner is still far and away better than an actual beginner.

Far too much talking. A one minute slow motion study in one piece where you can just watch the swimmer move would be really helpful instead of constantly pausing the video and scribbling around. So annoying.
