His style was very unique, which I'm sure he developed over time. Some of his earliest performances are much different from the later ones in as far as his delivery, vocal cadence, and overall presentation at the mic. I love how he never used contractions with his words. It was never, "I don't have...", it was "I do not have..." And while I'm aware of his shyness and stage fright, I think he also used that to effect as he evolved as a comic. Just a brilliant performer who is greatly missed.
@ShelterDogs
@ShelterDogs 6 жыл бұрын
That's a very astute observation. In copywriting, they actually recommend you write it as "I'm" instead of "I am" because it feels more "real" to the reader. Like you're speaking to them as you would in life. I feel like this applies to stand-up, too, but Hedburg gets away with it.

So I first encountered him with his Comedy Central special and never looked back. He died March 31st and my wife told me April 1st he had passed. I’m still in shock and am so very sad to not have him in this world. He was such a brilliant light of joy in this dark, maddening world. My favorite comedians are Carlin, Pryor and Hicks but those three were on a mission with a message. Hedberg was just pure comedy, just pure comedy to the core. He’s the absolute best of all time.

one of the things i just love about Mitch's work, is watching the crowd go from 'what the hell is going on?' to 'good god this fucker is funny!" It takes 'em just a few jokes to really figure it out, but boy when they do, the hits just keep comin'. And his crowd work is so genuine, so sincere...it's really endearing. Now I'm broken-hearted thinking about his absence, but i'm sure his next vid will cheer me up! I guess that was two of the things i just love about Mitch (read that in Mitch-voice)

Also love how those two women hug him and he's so shy he doesn't really know what to do. But he does manage to wipe the kiss off his cheek.
