A friend was on one of the popular home renovations show. 1) The show does not pay for the renovation, the homeowner does, 2) they only complete enough of it to be able to film, and 3) the things they bring in to dress up the home are made available for the homeowner to buy from the show. Sometimes set pieces that they “got for the renovation” will show up again in later renovation episodes. And I hear the quality level is very poor. And the hosts NEVER do the actual work, they hire construction companies/staff to do it. Definitely not reality!

He overbid the city councilor who was trying to cheat to get his property cheaper (councilor was the former owner) by defaulting and buying it on auction afterward. Sounds like the councilor had some issue with it and made it a mission to screw Marvin over and chase him off the property. They (city council, neighbor) wouldn't let him run water across a 15-foot piece of land (owned by the neighboring company) so that his muffler shop could have a sewer connection. Then they proceeded to fine him repeatedly for not having that sewer connection for his shop. They both insisted that he do it, and didn't allow him to do it, and he ran through multiple means of recourse with the city trying to get the sewer line put in before he finally just had enough. (He had basically spent his life savings at that point.)

Tamara and Allen were also on a different show called Mythbusters: The Search which was supposed to find two people to fill the roles of Adam and Jamie for a new series of mythbusters, but it failed. 1:01:04 no, its NOT a proven air frame! the entire problem with everything with max 8 is the massive engines they slapped on there. it screwed up the fundamental design and moved the cg around such that MCAS was required to keep the plane flying level. with software aiding it, the max 8 IS unstable in flight. its like taking the old school german VW bug design and putting a 20 foot lift kit on it, narrowing the wheel base even more, adding a 50 ton weight on the roof and then trying to take a corner at 150 mph and then being shocked when it instantly rolls over. and then instead of running back your design and building a new car from scratch you instead install software and a new computer in the ancient VW bug that just forces the car to not corner as hard without telling the driver (or the driver even knowing the computer is controlling the car). and then the cherry on top is you have a SINGLE SENSOR for measuring the tilt of the car, AND you let QA slip so far that fistfuls of aluminum shavings are found inside the sensor after assembly. The 737-800 was a proven air frame. all the older 737's are extremely EXTREMELY safe. i would never fly on any max if i can avoid it. at this rate, i hope airbus just buys boeing or something. at least the french government just funds airbus. the end result will probably be a branch of the US government assuming control (and funding) of boeing's commercial branch. there will be more deaths

I don't want to discredit the arguments, but other than a poor design by an architect the owner of the house and the renovations they do can also be a migraine. Edit 2: okay just wanted to put this before edit 1.... I need to finish the whole pod before commenting... Also from my understanding, permitting in California has different channels for permits on "Historical" buildings of a certain age (sometimes more specific for location, builder, and historical significance.) vs standard renovations. Some requiring you to fully update all areas found during inspection to code. Not too sure how current it is since its been a few years since I did those classes. I think the most egregious thing in California in terms of home modifications are the HOA's that pop up everywhere since if your home does land in that, not only will you still have to permit with the city, but you also have to submit for approval of some modifications to the HOA.
