i loved hearing Kris & Josh talk openly about disordered eating so openly. Women often get stigmatized and shamed for having eating disorders, especially anorexia, because society views it as "shallow" when it is incredibly deadly and a form of not just self harm, but also it is usually a desperate bid for control over one's own life. The one where you focus intensely on health -- macros, micros, exercise specifics, etc -- is orthorexia, and men (especially gymbros!) suffer from this as well as women. Male eating disorders go underdiagnosed due to the stigma and shame around it being a "women's disorder" which is such BS when it's a freakin' /mental health/ disorder, meaning it affects everyone. So yeah, TL;DR I appreciate all the talk about it without hiding that aspect of your lives, and thank you for sharing :)

@adelaamarante Жыл бұрын
@@Sniperboy5551 No. It doesn't always "get better" and, really, people need to stop saying it will as though this is the absolute truth. Sometimes it gets worse. Much worse. Sometimes it's "different" and that can be excruciatingly painful but maybe you have no choice other than to accept and adjust. Sometimes you manage-to-manage for survivals' sake. Sometimes you don't survive at all. No. It doesn't "always [get] better". Sometimes you try as hard as you can and you end up losing anyway. *This* is what more people need to speak on and bring in to "normal " conversations. Stop being afraid of telling anyone, or yourself, consequences up to and including d**th are possible. Stop trying to gloss over or hide the hard parts because it's scary to speak on them, or because it makes you uneasy or uncomfortable, or because you *incorrectly* feel "drawing attention" to the issue exacerbates the issue. Remove the taboo. Open the dialogue. Maybe save a life. It doesn't always get better. Sometimes our best hope is a decent support group that helps us adapt to a new level of discomfort and pain.
