This show feels like the perfect counter to hot ones. One asks celebrities about their life while torturing them, the other asks people about death while providing their culinary bliss. @@adamdubin1276 You’ve got to be joking. Everybody likes Tom Hanks’ movie roles, but in his personal life he is not a good man. He isn’t even a good parent, as he displayed in this very video. It wasn’t just his story about how he had a big problem with always yelling at his kids… The other story that reminded me of my shitty parents that always yelled at me too was Tom explaining how he lied to his kids to get them to eat something they didn’t want to eat - seafood (calamari/octopus in his case, which happens to be a very intelligent animal that feels pain). There’s nothing wrong whatsoever with kids who don’t want to eat animals! My mother lied to me when I was a kid in the _EXACT_ same way that Tom lied to his kids. She told me that the halibut steak she was cooking for dinner in the broiler, which smelled sooooo awful to me, was actually chicken. And she swore by it to me when I questioned her (because the smell reminded me of fish sticks that I tried one time as a kid before that, and I hated it)! I took one bite of the halibut steak that she swore to god was chicken, was disgusted and spit it out, and I never ate one single other bite of seafood as long as I’ve lived in my 48 years of life. Lying to your kids is traumatizing, and they will never forget it!

There are so many amazing moments in this interview, and the entire thing itself is captivating me! I have to say my favorite moment is at 25:36 -- after Josh's interview cards went everywhere, Tom picked them up and turned them over without reading the text or even glancing at it, then handed them back. Something about that, about not wanting to spoil the interview, about leaving it totally in Josh's hands to continue, felt very personable and kind to me.

You have reached the pinnacle. Tom Hanks is the ultimate guest. People might vary on which celebrities are their favorites but Tom is definitely going to be in nearly everyone's top 10 just because he's starred in so many amazing movies. His 80s and 90s movies were my childhood favorites. I think "Joe versus the volcano" was the first movie my whole family could agree on. This quote changed my entire outlook and sums up my thoughts on the Divine: "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones." -Marcus Aurelius
