Chicago is one of my favourite bands of all time. They have the melodies that weak my knees, they have the virtuosic musicianship that bring tears to my eyes. Seriously, no one else that I’ve listened to can bring a group of people together and have them be equally talented in both vocal & instrumental ability.

had the honor of seeing Peter Cetera in concert a couple weeks ago.August 12 2017. At 71 he still is touring and is still one of the greatest voices in Rock!!
@RCGoetzke
@RCGoetzke 7 жыл бұрын
Actually, Cetera will turn 73 in a month. He's aged very well for a 1960s-1980s rock and roller, probably because he morphed into a laid-back lounge crooner many years ago.
@dfgall
@dfgall 7 жыл бұрын
i don't know if lounge crooner is a meant to be a dig or what but we saw him last year in pompano. he is still the voice and no 3rd or 4th replacement can change that. loved all the chicago stuff he did. if you ask me youtube is a killer for current Chicago since people can see what it really was
@RCGoetzke
@RCGoetzke 7 жыл бұрын
Not really a "dig", as I was a huge Chicago fan with a particular admiration of Cetera as a killer bassist and unique vocalist. I thought that he could have been so much better as a rock and roller after he left Chicago when he was still young enough to be so.

@@donnamccall8063 Agree with you. To me, Lamm's vocals were most consistent with the jazzy rock genre that put the band on the map. He also wrote most of the big hits on the first few albums. Kath and Cetera were unique talents, but I don't think Chicago would have become as big as they did if not for Lamm's early influence.

@Chris (aka Juan) Peter was rising, it probably became noticeable to the group in the mid 70s when all their hits had his vocals attached to them. And he started to write and then he really became a threat to the other writer's, primarily Pankow and Lamm. Then later when Foster came in and Cetera and Foster wrote all their hits, he decided it was time to try going solo.

Chicago should released the 1980 Pine Knob Theatre Concert supporting the "Chicago XIV" Album. That is something me and many longtime fans of Chicago want to hear and to the people who love the music of Chicago over the years. Who's with me?
@Ricktpt1
@Ricktpt1 6 жыл бұрын
I am, but it wasn't XIV. It was in support of 13. It may have been broadcast in early '80 (I thought it was in the fall of '79) but XIV wasn't released until the dog days of late Summer 1980. I remember sweatin' my way to Ye Olde "Record Bar" and buying it. I think Donny Osmond owns or owned the rights to this video. But I could be wrong. Either way, it'd be nice to see in a cleaner rendering than this one.

Thank you for posting this concert. A band in transition. Donnie Dacus was caught up in an impossible situation. He was booted after this tour, which is actually the fall of 1979 in support of Chicago 13, a release that faced the same nearly impossible task of living up to the standard the band had set for themselves earlier in the decade. The album and the guitarist never had a fair shot, and both were not as bad as history suggests.

That's "Dacus". Yes, he had lots of energy and is definitely talented. Danny Seraphine explained in his book that the band was more known as having a more "faceless" appearance, and unfortunately Donnie's personality posed an insurmountable conflict. @@roberthelme8000 Too bad Robert wasn't as generous with Danny staying in the band.

@@lamarravery4094 I believe it was because Danny was trying to position the band to ditch the horns and this was his undoing. Robert had no leverage under those conditions.

I love Bobby Lamm, but this was the height of his cocaine addiction. He was so high this night.

They NEEDED a woman camera person!!!!!!!!!!! They missed So much! Like the interaction, Jimmy's hips, and Peter's dancing, not to mention his hands, and you might as well not have any light on Laudir...where was his coverage? Come on Man! You are supposed to be our eyes!

Rumor was that Donnie's chemical dependence was the cause of the split. (?)
