N50 Zwolle - Emmeloord 2013

All of N50 northbound from Zwolle to Emmeloord. The N50 was recently reconstructed and widened. Although the road has the same function throughout its route, it is built with various layouts, such as a 4-lane divided, a super-two, 2-lane undivided and 2+1 lanes. There are also two large bridges.

A Very dangerous road, with a lot of (deadly) accidents !!!!!!!!

Are there explanations why and where there are those accidents? I actually like the 2+1 road configuration. On 1+1 provincial roads (like in Drente/Overijssel) you can get stuck behind a truck or caravan for ages. With 2+1 you know that within 2km , you can make a safe overtake and are not tempted to make a dangerous move as you might on 1+1 ...

I find too many 2-lane roads in Holland have solid centre lines where they should be broken to allow overtaking. The section with the green stripe has enough forward visibility to pass slower traffic,

This road is too busy for that, the solid lane makes it possible to drive 100kph. It should be a 4 lane highway instead, like it is after the bridge.

+fabriziorocca There are no continuous shoulders, the X's are in case of congestion, so that emergency vehicles can bypass traffic.
