Danny great videos, I'll be 69 years young in August I've been recovering from Pancreatic Cancer, Whipple Surgery that removed the cancer and went through Chemo the last 5 months, just received great news from Surgeon and Oncologist, no signs of cancer and I can start with the playing golf again,I lost probably close to 40 LBS during my recovery along with distance on my game. I played for the first time in a year and shot an 82 yesterday at a local course, I didn't even try to use my driver due to the fact my 3 wood was more consistent and about the same distance (shorter by 20-30+ yards), after watching this vid I now know where to get that whip back and speed that was lost. Thanks

Danny loved it. I’m a 5 handclap but I’m more apt to shoot 82 instead of 77. Today I used yout catapiult method and used the left shoulder going back. I was 3 under on the back 9 and shot a 72. My lowest round in several years. I’m 69 years old. Thank you so much can’t wait to play tomorrow.

Danny, just a hacker's POV...I've experienced this a little bit on the range, and I have to trust to swing --what appears to me -- to be outside and beyond the ball, and the 'catapult' brings it back in to perfect impact. I didn't really think of it as a catapult...had not realized this is what's actually going on...and I don't yet trust it on the course with my irons...but I have added some of this to my driver swing with positive effects. Again, thanks for the lesson, as it really explains the move and motivates me to go back to the range and work this into my game. 2c.

When your buddies comment on how beautiful your swing was, well doggone that is a nice feeling. Do not get me wrong I know during the round when I wandered off, I knew it. But I also hit shots which for me was effortless power, something I rarely feel, nice! Result.........very good with lots of work to put in. I thank you sir!

Hi Danny, I'm a fresh French fan and have tested the catapult method this WE with my woods, and what I can say is simply "WTF !"... So simple, it keeps my hands in the goood plan and generates a very good club head speed. Even if I'm a 12 handicaper, if didn't visualised this simple move before... thanks for that. And the question I had this morning for you was "how to apply the method to my irons"... as I struggled a bit with them this we.. and here comes the new video... thanks :D Need to find an impact bag to test the move, I think my left shoulder is not going enough backward in the downsing, hence the chicken wings... Thanks for all those simple & clear explanations !!!

Interesting, played golf last night and was watching a fellow I played with pound the ball out like crazy distances....under control. The point is you could see the catapult type swing he was using. So I tried it and got some good results, I think maybe you have filled in the blanks, I will attempt this tomorrow and let you know. The analogy I best can think of is using a sling shot pulling it back and instead of letting the device do its work you push through with your right hand and do not let go....weak. This is what I have been doing! Big thanks for the clarity Wayne J.

Hi Danny. Great video and love your enthusiasm to teach golf. I believe your main point is we should no longer feel we have to steer the club head towards the ball Just to put in my own two cents worth. The twirl waggle that Jack Nicklaus did at his stance to the ball in order to feel the weight of the club as well as to feel the proper hand pressure; and, to loosen the wrist action; is my key to a softer and more precise grip on the club handle I also feel that the catapult method you talk about actually stems entirety by the proper activation of the trail elbow at the top of the downswing inching inward towards the trail hip; shallowing the club; creating lag and then catapulting the club head through the the ball. This activation of my trail elbow naturally quickens the release of my club head to the ball as it simultaneously activates the pivoting of my lower body; opens up my lead shoulder and creates that high finish that I like and you have shown so proudly in this video. Also the activation of the trail elbow at the top of a two plane swing can be seen in any great classic player. One need to only look. My favorite being Ben Hogan. You are also activating your trail elbow well except may not be fully aware of it; as in this video you are focused more on teaching a looser gripping of the club in order to institute the catapult effect. Cheers

Danny Maude I am thrilled that you loved my comment. In your video demonstrations you actually show the activation of your trail elbow catapulting you club as it was being held by the tip of the fingers of your lead hand. As you can see for yourself this would be impossible it were not for the activation of the trail elbow. I I hope you consider updating and emphasizing this fact in a future fresh video for all to consider. Would not mind if you even mentioned my name in it. Thanks and stay great at what you do. Cheers

Hi Danny, I did this many years ago, but a disintegrating left hip put a stop to it. Now I’ve had it replaced I must try it again with the extra move of the left shoulder going back. That makes so much sense. Keep the videos coming, I’ll make a golfer yet

@DanielMaude5 жыл бұрын
Sansfaim funny, I think we all have a tendency to do that at times
@eddiebro1015 жыл бұрын
You can also look at this a little bit differently. In order for that left shoulder to move up and backward, you have to keep the spine angle you created at address, right? It also requires that your right shoulder powers that shoulder turn. They work together, of course. That means the move is then a pivot around the top of your SPINE, not around your built stance (which causes that slide to the left that many experience). This is what lifts that shoulder up and rearward and not flatten out and cause a pull hook. If you concentrate on your trailing shoulder (right for right-handed players )moving down towards the ball, and through that ball's position after impact (from the player's perspective) during the follow-through, you will be position to compress the ball. It actually helps to get the feel of the catapulting action ingrained sooner. It also helps to keep the head where it needs to be (slightly behind the ball at impact on a full swing). As your follow-through gets further around your body because of length of swing, the body's limitations or flexibility limits should cause you to have to go erect, because of the raw forces that catapulting and pivot are creating. I have found the more I do release the club-head like a catapult (a pure power move), the more complete that finish needs to be, too. You can't cut it off... as soon as the shaft is fully extended, let your hands and wrist follow the butt of the shaft to the finish. So the right shoulder moving down, and then around and up, gets that left shoulder moving correctly, but also sets the swing length determinants. Not too sure I am explaining this fully. My experience is that just focusing on the left shoulder can at times result in the player standing upright too soon, and that causes the swing path to flatten instead of staying on the incline, or the spine's set angle. They stand up and lose their spine angle prior to impact. If your right shoulder moves how it needs to, the left comes along for the ride naturally. By my approaching this from the right side, I found it a lot easier to refrain from sliding during the transition too. In order to path that right shoulder towards the ball, that shoulder has to stay back, and not slide off the ball. From my sight line, my right shoulder actually moves through where the ball was sitting. In fact, that is what I watch for, not the actual strike of the club to the ball. I watch for what I am responsible for... the execution of the planned shot itself. I let the club do what it was made to do. My job is to stay down through impact and complete the swing into a fully balanced position. Staying down is as simple as the right shoulder tracking to the ball's position through impact. Maintaining proper balance is as simple as posting onto the inside of the left knee during the transition. If you do these two things, use a neutral grip, and just easily catapult the club head, I am sure you will start hitting straight shots with ease. I am 65 years old. I carry just under 265 on average. As helpful as that is (I get to play from the fronts tees because I am a super-senior) learning to get the shoulders working right gave me extremely accurate iron play. I may be old, but I carry a 2 cap now. Learn to move the shoulders right, learn to post to stay balanced, and catapult the club head for power, and the game gets instantly easier. I shot a clean (no bogeys) 63 last year. From the whites, but at my age, that is pretty good. It took me 45 years to finally learn these three simplistic issues. I was an 18 cap for most of my life. It is never too late to learn this.

Will try this. You definitely take this vid into murky waters! I spent most of my golf hours trying not to cast my clubs, which has me moving forward too much. I have VERY little variance in my long clubs so, your opening comment rang true for me. I fire my left shoulder but not back. I fire it around-but-forward more-so than back which negates the snap coming from a properly timed pivot/release. I have to try this! Now I realize why my closing sequence doesn't "look like a golfer's". I'm not posted up with the subtle arch in the final stage of my swing because I move forward instead of posting up/pivoting. It's going to take some time/work to transition into this. I've been doing this wrong for so long....

so danny, how about using the term "snap your wrists 2 feet past the golf ball" which will catapult your driver as you then turn your left shoulder back and rotate hips as you stated. the term "striking the match" is confusing. "wrist snap" will also keep your right, rear shoulder temporarily in place as your arms extend. upon completion of swing, your shoulders will face target. many thanks for your excellent instruction and humor.

Hi Danny, love the leading shoulder tip. Used your catapult thought on the drive and it worked! Tried it on irons and got more distance. Thank you Colin, let me know if it helps remove the chicken wing

Hi Danny Very interesting an illustrative!! Thanks a lot! One little question: are you aware that you are moving your head bevor impact? You are rotating the head just before impact about 20 degrees toward the target... Is this something that you would recommend?? Have a nice day! Markus

Apple_Is Cool it’s a personal move that I’ve done for many years, personally I think I transition better when I don’t do it as much but it works for stenson so it can’t be too bad

Danny, can this apply to a Stack and Tilt set up?
@DanielMaude3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely personally I believe and you need to shift pressure from 1 foot to the other I just like any other ballistic motion by throwing a ball throwing a shotput there’s always a transfer of weight.

@@DanielMaude thank you for your prompt reply. I have been using S&T with good results and used your Catapult swing with good results prior to that and I want to combine the two. I'll keep you posted!

Use the same motions for the driver and fairway wood?

Absolutely 👍

Danny, I wonder if rolling the right wrist over after impact is another way to visualise the club releasing in a catapult motion.

Kenny Lewis I wouldn’t recommend it unless you are suffering with a slice

OH NUTS!! I was asking if you could apply the Elvis move and catapult method with drivers and fairway wood. You said to watch this week but you're discussing irons again. Can I use the two moves with my driver and fairway wood? Or do I need to develop a different swing for Drivers and fairways woods?

Hope this will help Danny. Used to be a big hitter. After spine fusion (l4 and l5), I’ve lost some flexibility and thus power. Any advice with this method?

Are you catapulting by throwing with your trail hand or by frisbee throwing with the back of your lead hand?

Thanks for your video. i got the catapult down, but some of the balls fly about 10 degrees to the right. They are not ever sliced very much, they look like they are misdirected to the right from the takeoff. I cannot correlate these occurrences reliably with the body position. Any thought on why this may happen.

Hi Danny, do you still keep the same loose wrists and light grip that you said were essential in the catapult video regarding the driver? In other words, should the same feeling work with both driver and iron? Thanks so much -- I've shared these videos with quite a few friends in need!
@DanielMaude5 жыл бұрын
absolutely, the wrists need to be passive so they can work with the natural forces the swing creates

Never seen that explained before. Work finishes in 4 and a half hours then it's off to the range to give it a go!

Danny is this just a great way of thinking about the best swing action, or a different type of swing that is especially effective? I'm relatively new to golf and very prone to tinkering to try and correct my many faults (main one being poor contact and thinning shots) - I watch a lot of your videos! Is this something to be delayed until I've improved my strike consistency generally?
@DanielMaude5 жыл бұрын
if you are relatively new I would try my latest video it will work much better
