Johnny was a class act. You never knew what his politics was and he wanted it that way. He said he would lose half his audience if he did. Something these so-called late night comedians should take note. Look up on YT Carson playing Reagan in a “Who’s on first?” kind of skit. It’s funny as hell 😂

Good point. Nothing was partisan or mean spirited. He’d make fun of whoever the incumbent was. You’re correct. You couldn’t tell what Carson’s politics were. It was all about being entertained with great talent.

I saw RD in concert in Houston back in the 80's. He told rapid fire jokes for what seemed like 10mins straight before the ENTIRE crowd (20,000 people) suddenly broke out in a standing ovation interrupting him. He seemed truly surprised and it made him start laughing and blushing. The applause wasn't so much for the jokes themselves but his ability to stand and deliver so many jokes one after the other for so damn long. It was truly amazing.

Johnny Carson helped so many young comedians who made it by appearing on his show. If Johnny Carson invited a first time comedian to sit with him , after their stand up, that person would immediately be booked at clubs all over the country. Johnny was the greatest talk show host ever and a very funny and talented man, who had a perfect sense of timing and allowed his guests to shine.

He was always at the top of his game when he would be a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Rodney made 63 appearances on that show. And many don't know that he had a very sad and difficult childhood. His father left the family when he was very young, and his mother was very mean and cruel to him. He never got love or respect as a person. Which led him to become a comic doing standup. But he never made it until his mid 40's in show business. He actually painted houses and sold aluminum siding as a young man, and then tried show business and doing stand up when he was in his 40's. He became famous in the movies with Caddyshack, and Going back to school, and Easy money. He's led a very intesting life, and although he never received love from his mother, he always stood by her and took care of her. Alot of his stage persona (the nervous jestures, always touching his tie, always sweating and bringing out his hankerchief) steamed from his horrific childhood memories. It's amazing how he could make so many of us laugh, when he had such a tough life. I like your channel and the love you bring to a very funny man. Mr. Rodney Dangerfield. "What a crowd, what a crowd. I tell ya, I'm alright now but last week I was in rough shape ya know" 👍😆

Those are 3 comedic LEGENDS in front of you! Johnny Carson was the best talk show there ever was or ever will be. You should watch some of Johnny's bits too! The man on the other side of Rodney is Dom Deluise, whose laughter is the most contagious laughter I've ever heard in my life - you should check out the movie Cannonball Run - the end credits are almost as funny as the movie! And then there's Rodney - please check out his movies Back To School and Caddyshack! I would love to watch your reactions to any of those movies, but I think you might enjoy Back To School the best.

His thing was "He never gets no respect". I grew up with his comedy. Loved him!! Thanks for reacting to him! The guy next to him is Dom DeLuise. If you find some clips of him, he is hysterical.

You can tell when Rodney is finished....he stops and says, bring out the next guest. The bit continues with Johnny and he feeds him questions for a response.

I get a big kick out of you laughing at Rodney. I have watched him for years and it's good to see another generation appreciate his zany humor. Non stop jokes. But you... are hilarious to watch as a first time watcher of Rodney.

Sad that we have forgotten what comedy really is. Love the days when we could laugh without fear. It's a dying art. Seems we can't take the joke or laugh at ourselves even. Bless you bud keep diggin.

Ya' listen to the old time comedians and realize how much we've lost. We've lost our joy for life and it shows.

Johnny Carson listens very carefully and pauses and then says something. Johnny also dresses beautifully. He is very interesting. Thank you, good work.

What made Carson so great as a talk show guy is he knew how to bring out the best in his guests and make them funny. He would be the straight guy And was funny as heck even sitting there himself. Miss that s.o.b.

I loved listening to Rodney Dangerfield and Carson was a great guy who tried to help everyone that appeared on his show. Johnny Carson would set his jokes up. (sometimes).

The jokes were impressive for their wit, speed, and, as you said, even when they failed a bit, RD succeeded, still had the crowd and Johnny on his side. Such a TRIP, though, to see him ask for and light a cigarette INSIDE and ON TV, and then the host does the same thing! What a sea change society has undergone since then re smoking!
