Problem with Russia is that even if you input those, you're still 200 cities short. The quiz actually goes as far east as to include Yekaterinburg and south to Derbent and Grozny. Getting Russia in this quiz is harder than all the other countries put together which you can do in less than 10 fairly easy after few tries.
@ptero Жыл бұрын
@@PLF... I am sure you can get almost all Russian cities just by knowing regions capital cities. They are also pretty big, and you can do even better if you're proficient in Russia's geography and can guess cities with smaller population. I personally am very amazed at author's knowledge of European cities, I personally can only name like 30 of them. This is probably only why Russia seems hard - because it's just more unknown to people in other countries. It's not about population density. The only real problem I think is with northern regions of Russia, there's still a few lot of cities but they're distant from each other and you need to know them separately. Same thing with Lapland, though, but it's somehow was easier to do. UPD I actually ran the challenge and made input of all regional capitals in European Russia. Yep, it checked out, almost all of Russia was covered. There were only chunks of unclaimed land in northern parts of country and in South Urals (also some in chernozem region, but very small). Though when I tried to input cities that were ACTUALLY there (Like orsk and veliky ustyug) I couldn't do it, so I dunno, make your own lesson out of it

@@Ezanke11 Lets find out, the northernmost point in Sweden is 69.06°N and the southernmost is 55.34°N which would make the middle point 62.2°N. Östersund is at 63.18°N so it's a full degree into the northern half.

So Akureyri is the largest Icelandic city outside of the Reykjavik area. Would likely have completed Iceland. Also, Aalborg is with double A, not Ar. Double A is an old way of writing Å in Danish, which has stuck around in a lot of place names and surnames. A little bonus fact from a native Aalborgenser: Since Å is the last letter of the Danish alphabet, Cities like Aalborg and Aarhus should go at the end of alphabetically sorted list, rather than at the beginning, despite starting with Aa.

That's really interesting!
@GummieI Жыл бұрын
tbf, even if it wasn't that common in Danish to still have aalborg with 2 a's instead of å, it would probably still have been in this quiz, since more people wont be able to type å easily (like can see with Aarhus, which is usually spelled with an Å in Danish, but it took it, when he did it with double Aa
@bagaboiebailey Жыл бұрын
the city in Iceland you missed was Akureyri, you should definitely memorize that city for future quizzes, it's actually the biggest settlement in Iceland outside of the Reykjavik metro area!

Finnish town in Lapland you were probably thinking is Ivalo. But it's too small. One of Kuopio, Kajaani or Joensuu would have most likely finished Finland.

Here's a tip of a city that would help you clear the southeast of Sweden: Kalmar. It's the city next to the island of Öland. Visby on the island of Gotland would also be a good choice to clear that area.

Problem with Portugal is that the Azores count. Tenerife don't for some reason. A few good ones is Visby (on Gotland), Malaga, Gijon, Murcia, Bodø, Mora, Umeå, Luleå, Östersund, Kuopio, Kalamata, Chios - and like 50 Russian ones.
@andresilva8444 Жыл бұрын
Santa Cruz, Angra do Heroismo, Lajes, Ponta Delgada should cover the Azores for you. I also know a town in Norway called Haugesund that's just south of Bergen, should help cover some gaps. Good job, anyway.

Uhm Åre and Kirkenes are sub 10k, not even close really. Enare is neither English, Finnish nor local Sami spelling so I don't think it would work, well it wouldn't matter either way since it's below 10k despite being 17,333 km².
