What I wanna know is why the police didn't? an officer said the door was locked that's why he never opened the door to the cellar but the lock was a slide lock at the top of the door, all he had to do was look up that's what I'd do if I saw no Obvious signs of the door being locked with a key

As a detective who has worked on the case has already pointed out they can open this case as many times as they want and go over the evidence from start to finish, it's not gonna change anything because the crime scene was botched and the police did a shoddy job at not only securing the scene but the evidence and getting witness statements, maybe if they hadn't and did everything how they should have then Jonbenet would have gotten her justice by now, I hate to be pessimistic but the only way this little girls killer is gonna be found is if someone confesses which is highly doubtful

Patsy was in the same clothes the next morning because they were up all night trying to figure out what to do. That's the only explanation for her being in the same clothing. The first police on the scene messed up the entire case. In most cities, this case would have been solved easily.

They reported it as kidnapping. The First police went through the house and found nothing. So they figured the child was not there and was likely primarily alive being held for money. Which is why they faked the kidnapping to distract from what really happened in the house.

How come no police SNAP on John Ramsey for contaminating a crime scene? The dude knows better. Takes off the duct tape, drops THAT on the floor, then cross contaminates the chords by trying to untie them, THEN lifts a decaying, rigormortis body upstairs, sets it down in front of Det.Arndt, then while both are leaning over the body, and the smell of decay is sensed by Det. Arndt, the "observant of the obvious", John Ramsey asks Det.Arndt, is she dead? BTW. No mention of JonBenet's name is made in either the ransom note, OR the 911 call. This is called DISTANCING. The 911 call caught Burke in the background. This is denied, and then John Ramsey AGAIN, contaminates a crime scene, by making Burke's bed. Why? To cover up any investigation to find if Burke ever WAS in bed. THIS WHOLE THING IS A COVER UP. And THIS information happened in the opening hours. Look how much time was wasted looking for an intruder. What a mess. I have a saying, No other clothing has successfully covered up a lie, than a business suit and a matching tie. Ask the communist party.

It was the father I'm positive when they done the autopsy there was evidence of vaginal trauma that had been going on for a while which would suggest it was someone she knew not a stranger even the first detective on the case strongly believes it was the father but just couldn't get enough evidence on him.When they searched for her the father went straight to the basement and found her and the detective said he didn't act like a normal parent would no real grief.She even said she sensed the killer was in the house she just had that feeling.Something doesn't add up it's almost like some cover up.

@gutenbird
@gutenbird 4 жыл бұрын
They were not cleared by the DNA. The DA just didn't want to continue fighting this case. The DNA test only showed that there were trace amounts of multiple sets of DNA on the underwear. Experts found the DNA though foreign did not indicate their was any significance to the DNA. There are trace amounts of DNA floating all around us. If the DNA had been from a killer, it would be a heck of a lot more of it. You have trace amounts of DNA on your clothing of people you don't know.

@sydandtaytum
@sydandtaytum 8 жыл бұрын
AmethystEyes that article does not convince me of anything. a) the 911 call- i agree, i didnt hear what they heard at the end of the call. i dont even really care, because listening to patsy's words, it is very strange she says 'we have a kidnapping'---- that is something you'd say in a movie- or a cop would say at a crime scene to another cop---- no mother says that. b) i've always known the underwear DNA was bullshit because jonbenet was not raped. if it was a sex crime, then why in the hell would they not rape her??? they didnt use the underwear DNA in the show to be the ultimate end-all be-all of who is guilty, but instead to make people understand that the ramseys shouldnt be 'exonerated' based on that one piece of evidence. which is true. c) linguistics and behavioral analysis is INCREDIBLY important and is absolutely a science. if you have not studied psychology, you might chock it all up to bullshit, but it is ABSOLUTELY not. the choice of words someone uses is VERY MUCH LINKED to how they are thinking. john mostly remains silent in a lot of the interviews, so we can't analyze him too much, but patsy and burke's interviews reveal A LOT. anyone who has studied psychology will tell you it is not bullshit. (i never majored in psychology, but reading psych articles has been a pastime of mine for years--- they have done many many studies with linguistics and behavior- whether that is to identify lying, identify sociopaths, identify state of mind-- it is very reliable to establish a person's way of thinking or mood.)
@AmethystEyes
@AmethystEyes 8 жыл бұрын
Yes linguistics and behavioral analysis are important but it can be faulty when a person has one of two things 1)confirmation bias or 2)lie bias. I am a Psych minor and my friend is training to be a criminal profiler we talk about this all the time.
@AmethystEyes
@AmethystEyes 8 жыл бұрын
Also, I have watched interviews and analysis with both Jim Clemente and James Fitzgerald for the past 2-3 years now and they both believed that the Ramsey's did it before coming on to this program. Looking back on it now I would rather have investigators with the same amount of experience as them, but without the bias (which is not their fault, they were involved with the case). Having independent and new investigators would lessen the confirmation bias considerably. Also, another member of the group, investigator James Kolar in the DA's office in Boulder wrote a book he wrote title " "Foreign Faction: Who Really Killed Jonbenet", where it he gave the theory for why each Ramsey could be responsible. Even though Burke was never suspected by the PD or DA. Kolar was too deep into this case to be able to look at this in a new light. Also, could you imagine him changing his theory that went with his book that he makes money from? I am not saying that they need to all agree with the intruder theory, because in the end it may be the Ramsey's, who knows? I just want to lessen bias. Thank you for getting through my long writing. :D lol

@davida1251 2 жыл бұрын
@@loridobos7174 there were curious similarities in her letters and word choices and she wasn't originally eliminated. A lot of things from circumstantial evidence point to the coverup. The note itself is awkward having been written inside, also lengthy for a ransom letter, a referenced kidnapping and yet strangely is a death, has inside knowledge of John's bonus total, unusually addresses John in a condescending tone, reflects the Ramsey's are "not well rested", and Patsy wore her clothes and makeup from the night before. Along with the female detective's observations in the morning with John Ramsey's odd lackadaisical behavior, there is suspicion and hints of a coverup. The mere chance of all these coincidences happening continue to point to a coverup as the logical choice. One would hope that the Ramseys are completely innocent and would not do such a thing to their daughter, or protect Burke with such actions, so I guess the truth and justice can only be served in their deaths if a God of morality exists.

The undigested pinapples in Jonbenet's tummy did it for me. They/she was still eating pinapples when the killing happened. Therefore it's not an outside intruder, it's one of the family members. The parents have no reason to kill their own little daughter. Burke has viciously attacked her before with a golf club, he did it. This time he intended to hurt her more for what ever reason and he struck her over the head real hard cracking her skull killing her. That's how kids are, they attack each other, and every time it progresses, it gets worst.They seemed/appeared like the perfect family, what else are the parents to do but stage a cover up if they can help it. That's why they didn't want burke to be any part of the investigation(s) and claimed he was always in his room.

Kenny Palmer you're comment doesn't make sense! The whole reason the pineapple was partially digested was because she was killed after she ate it! The body keeps on digesting food after you have died as your stomach still contains acid & doesn't stop just because you are dead! Pathologists can tell time of death from looking at food & how digested it is & in what part of the digestive system its in. As the pineapple was in her stomach & had not passed into her intestines this means she was killed very soon after eating it.

Burk is not the only member from the Ramsey's family that smiled about the JonBennet's case.. the dad smiled too on tv.. they are obviously guilty (all the family members)..... the letter was written from the hand of JonBennet's mother... please wake up people.. this little girl was dressed up like a provocative women and was just a little girl with 6 years old (this is not enough evidence for you guys????).. sorry for my english is beacause i'm latina... Everyone needs to listen to the full 911 call, and watch the Psychologist question Burke as a little boy,. And why is Patsy still fully dressed in the previous evening's clothes the next morning? Why did she hang up on 911 dispatch? Why did Jon and Patsy botch the whole home/crime scene and invite guests over the next morning? If the Ramsey's did not do it, why did they go to great lengths to destroy all evidence? Nancy does not believe it was Burke or Jon, so that leaves Patsy guilty. My suspicion is that Burke hit JonBenet so hard that she was knocked unconscious while playing. I believe Patsy wrote the ransom letter. One of the 3 murdered JonBenet, and Patsy and Jon covered it all. Still one of the most fascinating unsolved cases.

First off, the FBI was no longer involved once it became it a homicide investigation. The FBI had never seen a 2.5 page ransom note until then and they haven't seen one since. No other "kidnapping victim" has ever been found in the home. Secondly, the FBI did NOT clear the family. Mary Lacy, former DA (who was DA after Alex Hunter) "cleared" the Ramsey's based on a "butt imprint" found in the home. Neither DA Lacy or DA Hunter hated the Ramsey's. In fact, they pushed for Ramsey innocence. Third, the DNA in this case is touch/trace DNA. That means 1) It's in small amounts and 2) It can come from anywhere. Sneezing, coughing, innocently rubbing/touching another person or animal, not using sterile instruments during the autopsy, etc. It could even come from the person who made/packaged the panties she was found in. The DNA BARELY met the MINIMUM requirements to be entered into CODIS in 1997. The minimum makers at the time was 13. Now, in 2017, CODIS requires DNA to have at least 20 markers. The DNA was first thought to belong to 1 unidentified Hispanic male. Now? It can possibly belong to 6 different individuals. In fact, a Grand Jury voted to indict the Ramsey's on two charges each. 1) Child abuse that resulted in the death of a child under the age of 16 and 2) Accessory to murder. DA Alex Hunter refused to take the indictments to trial.

Everyone says they waited for the call to come in that day. Well, the person must have written this note before 12:00 AM. In other words-they must have written the note on Christmas night (while they were out at the christmas party or after they got home but before --12:00-- AM) because the writer says they will call tomorrow-- "tomorrow" would mean the next morning or the day they found the note and the body. So the Ransom note was written and possibly placed on the steps all before midnight. SO that leaves at least 7 or 8 hours that the ransom note was written before it was discovered. It also sounds to me like it was supposed to be a phone call and not a ransom note because of the opening statement "Listen Carefully!" That is why the letter wasn't pre-written. Everything is also written in future perfect tense and there is a more European style in the word usage--definitely not someone who knows about or is involved in the Southern culture. But then they go on to use the article "an" in "an earlier drop off" but then they say "a" in "a earlier pick up". People either use articles correctly or they do not. They don't use the same words in the same sentence and insert the wrong article. Also, why would the writer state that it was important for John to be well rested because it will be exhausting.. that seems like a huge clue and possibly a double meaning statement. "I will call you between 8 and 10 am tomorrow to instruct you on delivery. The delivery will be exhausting so I advise you to be rested. If we monitor you getting the money early, we might call you early to arrange an earlier delivery of the money and hence a earlier pick-up of your daughter." (hence?) Also interesting is the flip flop between We and I throughout-I find it odd that the writer states "I will call you" .. I do like the movie lines thrown in but why would you take the time to do that? ANother big clue- Anyways-just a few thoughts on this --

I think Burke killed JonBenet. Burke woke up hungry he went downstairs to get pineapple and milk. JonBenet then woke up probably to use the bathroom or she woke up because she Peed on herself. She saw a light on downstairs went downstairs to see what was going on. She then saw her brother in the kitchen eating pineapple. Then she went over grabbed it with her fingers and ate a piece. Burke then got mad at JonBenet for eating his pineapple. JonBenet then ran downstairs to the basement Burke went chasing after her grabbed the flashlight from the kitchen and ran downstairs. Burke soon caught up with JonBenet then hit her with the flashlight on her head. Burke then realized what he had done. He then grabbed JonBenet and dragged her to the other room. He then ran back upstairs went back in his room and pretended to fall asleep. Patsy and her husband both woke up to the noise and checked the house and the rooms. They both saw Burke in his bed "sleeping" and went to check JonBenet's room and found her missing so they went to check around the house for her. They then went down to the basement and checked the rooms and then found JonBenet's body on the ground. Patsy then screamed and Bourke got out of his bed and ran to the basement. Then that's when they had their conversation "what did you do" -Patsy "we're not talking to you" John "oh Jesus oh Jesus" -Patsy "what did you find"-Burke? Burke thought he was slick trying to play it off. When he probably killed his sister. Then the parents wanted to cover it up by strangling her even though she was already dead, or slowly dying. Or Burke could have done all of that to her then went upstairs. I don't know. I just want this solved. It's very sad it's taking over 20 years to solve this case😤 Pasty knew what she was doing when she invited their friends over. She knew that once they came in the house the evidence would be tampered with. She knew she had the power to control the investigation. It’s funny how the cop told Dad to check the house again and he went downstairs to the basement and went straight to the room and found the body? Wasn’t that door locked/jammed The first time the house was checked? So why all of a sudden he can open the door was it really jammed or was it locked for a reason? And Burke was not asleep during the time of this event. When Burke had the interview with that man and he showed him the picture of the pineapple and the cup of tea on the table to him and asked what this picture means to him, Burke hesitated for a while and he was trying to play it off and say Umm a bowl..... (2 minutes later) maybe it could be cereal?... I mean really I can look at that picture and see all the textures of the pineapple and know that its not cereal even though It had milk in it but still. He was lying the whole time. Because he knew if he said what it was the man would ask more questions about the picture. And about why he never finished the pineapple. He knew he was in some boiling water.... This case needs to be opened again and SOLVED! It’s not over! 😤😤😤 They need to put Burke on a lie detector test.

I 100% agree, when the autopsy on her body was done, it was revealed she had that pineapple that was left undigested in her stomach. That pineapple couldn't have come any earlier than the night she died or it would have been digested. The weird ransom note also completely debunks any theory of a kidnapper/break in. It is also odd that the "unknown male" DNA found on the little girl's panties, was not found anywhere else on that scene. Not on the broken window glass, not on the window frame, not on staircase and not even on what was allegedly used to strangle her. How is that even possible? the kidnapper leaves DNA on the panties but not anywhere else? it was also only trace DNA, such a small amount that it could have come from anywhere.

DNA testing cleared him and his parents in 2008. Good lord even when there's DNA testing done and law enforcement officers are able to clear her family y'all still want to say they are guilty. How would you feel if someone murdered your 6 year old daughter and you, your husband and your 9 year old son are still being accused of killing your daughter even though forensic evidence through a DNA test proves you didn't? Most likely JonBenet's parents were shielding her brother from reporters and media scum in general. Plus their daughter was murdered and it's not uncommon for parents to become overly protective of their other kid/kids because something like that can provoke fear that it might happen again so you become overly protective and not want to let your kid out of your site.

Take away the bogus ransom note, and all you have is a dead child in the basement of a house where her parents had been the whole night. Without that note, there's no urgency to discover the body. The Ramsey's already had a flight planned to leave the next day and would to have left their daughter dead in the basement. They had to make a decision, bury their daughter or let the stench fill up the house. There are possibly reasons why an intruder would have written that note, but there's only one reason why the Ramsey's wrote it.

After reading the JonBenet Ramsey chapter in John Douglas’ The Cases that Haunt Us (the writer of mindhunter and the man who birthed forensic psychology and criminal profiling at the FBI in the 70s and consulted on 1000s of cases including the Atlanta Child Murders which he helped solve) I have changed my opinion. I do not believe the Ramseys did this. I think it was an intruder, someone who wanted to make John Ramsey pay, someone who knew the layout of the home and knew what he got for his bonus. There’s just no motive for the parents to do this, and the DNA found under her fingernails and in her underwear doesn’t match the Ramseys. But no matter which scenario you look at there are things that don’t add up so it is infuriating! But I do think it is possible for this case to be solved if they get a DNA match through CODIS

John Douglas went into the investigation not believing the family had anything to do with it. John's experience was also his main handicap. He went into to with his head full of a career's worth of horrific murders, profiling psychopaths and working around complicated crime scenes. This case was none of those things. It was simply a case of Accidental Death caused by the brother and two panicked, but loving parents covering for their one remaining son by writing a ransom note and staging a crime scene. Everyone forgot to give Burke the attention that was warranted. His parents protected him and shielded him from talking to the police or even being available starting on that first day. Whatever foreign DNA is found will not solve this case because there will be no match to anyone in a database. The foreign DNA is so small and therefore inconsequential. It could be the DNA of anybody - from the sales clerk in the underwear dept. to the factory worker in china who sewed them.

I agree that he probably snapped when she may have grabbed a piece of his pineapple out of his bowl. There was only Burkes and Patsys DNA on that bowl, but there was pineapple in her stomach! It didn't take that hard of a blow to crack the scull of a six year old girl which he clearly demonstrated in his interview with the child phycoligest after the murder when he was 9 years old. Ok if you think logically about this case u would know that John Ramsey had a daughter from a previous marriage that was killed in a car accident. He got remarried to Patsy. But the thing that is the most fishy to me is that the next day from when Jon Benet was murdered he booked a flight to fly to Georgia for a business meeting? 🤔. It wasn’t even to Lawyer up , allegedly. I may be wrong but there are so many red flags that indicate it was someone in the home that killed that little girl. The parents knew EXACTLY what happened. And they had time to come up with a plan and to write that ransom note. They freaked and in order to keep there picture perfect image it wouldn’t have looked good on them . My money would be the brother and to this day I still think Burke Ramsey killed his sister and his parents covered it up. That’s the only theory I can come up with!!!!

The motive, ability nor the timeline is there for the mother, Nancy. This is not Tot Mom. Burke had the motive whether on purpose or accidental, the history and the time. His parents, then, had all the reason in the world to stage the scene and cover for him. Motive and opportunity are so very important in this case. The rhelm of possiblity is also great. None of us were in that house that night - a whole host of possibilities exist in regards to the actions of Burke and his sister during those late night hours. One thing we do know for sure: Patsy wrote that letter and when you understand the contempt of a sibling expressing itself intentionally or unintentionally matched with the love of a mother and a smart lawyer, things begin to fall into place. That letter was a huge misstep on the parent's part and that alone should have been enough to charge them with conspiracy to a crime. A charge which says, we aren't saying you killed her but we think you particpated in some way in the commission and covering up of a crime. Patsy WROTE that letter - don't ever forget that.
