The fact that George has been able to play at this level for so long (while even pushing the boundaries in some instances) is genuinely impressive.
@neigtchur5 ай бұрын
It is amazing. He answered a q&a at an event about how his body has been while playing this style. A lot of tendonitis throughout the limbs, but he loves what he does, so he keeps pushing. Hell, isn't Pete Sandoval in his 60s or so. He doesn't play as fast as George, but it's extreme drumming. I could only imagine what his body is dealing with.

The guy set the level for what was expected of extreme metal drummers
@SuicidalGrind5 ай бұрын
@@neigtchur Fun fact if we go back to Gateways to Annihilation, he actually did have health problems related to drumming! He revealed in an Instagram comment section that pretty much the reason why the Opening Of the Gates chorus has sped up kicks (280BPM) is because he tried to play it at 240BPM first, but Trey wanted it to be faster, however when he played it at 270BPM I presume what happened is that his back was being too strained from that speed and therefore he was told he has to slow down with that stuff (no pun intended) I guess what it comes down to is the more you keep pushing yourself hard, the more you're gonna feel it in your body as you get older. We are still human, not robots. Any level of technique won't matter when it comes to getting old. So yeah, I commend him for holding back when he needed it, because the drumming on the other songs were still great and on Heretic he had really fast drumming too.

I have to agree. Like the current Singer sounds great. I really don't want to bash on him. Those whom the gods detest is my first album. Man.... I've never had metal on that caliber before... No one sounded like that, especially in my music collection.
