I have tried it many ways and after some of my viewer comments on how they did it it really helped. Draping the fly over before putting up the 4 poles helps so I don’t struggle with it now. absolutely love it. I have a small chevy Spark. I have been looking at these for a while. Not sure if it would work with my small car, but hoping so or something similar. Just not seen something small enough. This however might work. I am a 🇬🇧 female solo camper. I have 2 large tents for when family and friends join me. But need to sort something for me. I have used other things to attach but ideally would love a convert extension. As money tight and no longer able to buy a Van. So using what I have.
@RVAHikerGirl2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This particular model is for CUV's, SUV's and mini vans. You would have to look at the website as it gives the measurements that it would fit. Yes I love this as an option for travel and camping both. Especially now that gas prices are so expensive. People that have those campers and RV's are paying a lot for gas right now. I hope you find one that works for you. Once you do, happy camping to ya. ~RVA~

Loved your video, was wondering if I could put it up by myself a 65 year old woman....thank you!!
@RVAHikerGirl5 ай бұрын
@@kwalitynana yes I think so. Just get a step stool and I think you would be good. Pulling up one side over the hatch you can lock it in place with the straps while you get the other side up. And since making this video I have learned to put on the fly on the tent before I put up the holes so no more struggling with that.

Thank you for great videos. I am wondering if once you have the Napier set up, can you close your liftgate at night for added safety during the sleeping hours without having to take down the tent?
@RVAHikerGirl2 жыл бұрын
Yep, you sure can close the hatch. You don't need your car at all for this tent to free stand on its own. You can detach it, zip it up, and drive away to a hike, etc. Then drive back and reattach. That's what makes this tent so versatile and amazing. ~RVA~

Nope its easy. You undo the straps attached to the roof rack and in the back wheel wells and pull off the part of the tent that covers the hatch. Zip it up and that's it to drive away. For reattaching its the same procedure. But I do have to move the tent slightly to reattach. Hope that helps. ~RVA~

My Toyota Highlander does not have a roof rack. What do you think of securing the part over the hatch on the sides at the windows? I bought this tent several years ago and did not use it because I bought a travel trailer in 2016. I am thinking of selling my travel trailer and using this tent if I can use it without a roof rack.
@RVAHikerGirl Жыл бұрын
There are long straps included in your tent. Napier told me that they are for attaching to the the straps that I attached to my roof rack to extend to the hood to secure the tent. No roof rack needed.
@punknhead23 Жыл бұрын
So is it easy enough to detach the tent from the vehicle if you want or n÷d to drive somewhere? I usually use camp as home base for daytrips. I've shied away from the truck tents and rooftop tents for that reason. Maybe this would be easier to detach from.
@RVAHikerGirl Жыл бұрын
Yep it sure is. You just release the straps on top pull the hatch portion off and unclip the wheel well straps. Then you drive away while it stands on its own. This tent will for sure enable you to do just what you are looking for. ~RVA~

I use a tailveil. There are no poles involved. You just unfold it. Pull it over the hatch and fasten the bottom with bungees to the wheels. Then stake down the tent or just put some weights on the beck corners. That’s it. If you want to add the rain fly, just pull it up and Velcro to the top. Soooo much faster than the Napier.

Cool, glad to hear you found a tent option that works best for you. After several more times of putting this up, I have found a much easier way for me. You are certainly welcome! Its just folded and tied. I keep it a little thicker in the back to keep those fly aways tamed. But I don't do anything special. I was sweating so much, so that probs kept it from slipping. But no really I don't usually have an issue with bandanas slipping. Before a roof top, check the specs for the vehicle; not all can take the load and if you have a full moonroof (front to almost rear) might not be a great idea. Also, roof tops are not for people with dogs, unless you have a small one you can carry up. Just some words of caution.
