No they're right, you do need to let it go. But they don't understand that part of letting it go is just moving on from them. They're not worth the hatred and resentment anymore and you should let that stuff go, but that in no way means you can or should have a relationship with these people again. You can let all the emotions go and make a rational decision to not be involved with terrible people, and that's exactly how you should frame it for them. International labor Law says minimum age of working is 13 for, "light field work", and 15 for anything else. 18 is the minimum if we're talking about hazardous work. So... Regardless of it taking place in the most backwater country you wanna name off. Unless they're wanting to break the internationally agreed upon law, which would have more problems than just paperwork, no country is letting an 11 year old get any job.

People and countries regularly commit warcrimes and the most terrible acts against eachother, there are child soldiers and abuse victims. Talking from personal experience, there’s a difference between moving on and forgiveness. You don’t have to forgive someone who has hurt you in order to move on. Moving on is simply not thinking about that person anymore, not letting them dictate your thoughts or life. And forgiving someone doesn’t necessarily mean you move on either. Don’t confuse the two.

My previous job was something similar as the second story. I worked at a place that I made medical plates, and day shift did a ton of screw ups. My biggest problem there was when I started my day to one of the machines I ran not having any screw threads in one of the holes of the part. I checked all 12 parts and all but 2 were missing the screw threads. I reported it to my supervisor right away since day shift obviously wasn't checking their parts after every cycle, the parts got bagged and tagged, as well as a report to our head manager, who made a report to his managers as well as others. The next day all 10 parts had the screw threads, obviously done by hand, which is a huge violation since there isn't any guarantee doing something like that by hand, and these were parts that would go into somebodies body. There was an investigation into the matter, the day shift operator and the day shift Crew Coordinator got a weeks suspension since it was discovered that they were the ones that did it. Two weeks after that I get woken up (since I worked night shift) by a phone call from the HR lady at work telling me that I was being placed on a week long suspension because I smashed the screen on one of the machines at work. They did an investigation and found that it was the same day shift operator that did it, and tried to pin the smashed screen on me to get back at me for him getting suspended. The guy was put on suspension again, and I was allowed to go back to work with a half assed apology, and pay for my suspended week. At that point I was at my breaking point and just quit, I wasn't getting paid enough to deal with that garbage, the commute was almost an hour each way, and I was just miserable working there. I found a new job that pays the same wage, is about 15 to 20 minutes away, and despite the Florida heat I am enjoying myself a whole lot more at this job then I was at that job.

S2 - If OP brought these “mistakes” to his boss, and they weren’t acted on… that makes OP and Mrs. OP whistleblowers. In America, and I assume many other countries, there are legal protections for whistleblowers. Protections against retribution from management. But you’d have to report the company to the government, not just HR. In many cases, if that government agency fines your company, the whistleblower gets a cut. If this (total speculation, here) some kind of biotech device, like a new pacemaker device, the FDA would handle approvals before it can go to market. If they fudged the data, the FDA will fine your company millions. You’d walk away with a few hundred thousand, easy. Company almost certainly gets all re-orged… maybe you’re the hero and get promoted, maybe it’s a hostile work environment. You’d need to find a new job, but now the FDA is what you’d list as your work experience, not the actual company. Some companies might not want to hire someone who narc’d.. that’s fine, if they don’t want whistleblowers, you don’t need them. If whistleblower to the FDA is a think they approve of… prolly a good company to work for. Seek outside council. Any lawyers in the room will be their lawyers, looking out for their interests. Also, have a few words that when you’re grousing about your coworkers, she is NOT supposed to repeat that. Look into “marital communication privilege”. In some cases, a criminal can confess their crime to their spouse, and the spouse cannot testify about that conversation. Even if the spouse might want to.

It’s funny how one line can change a lot of things. That OP clearly has some toxic tendencies - to say that because he had dinner with them she wouldn’t let him see his kids until they were 18 (if he had been caught) - that’s not something a well-adjusted person would say - that’s extremely vindictive and selfish. That line really rubbed me the wrong way - like maybe there is a little more to this story because that’s not an adult response and she’s not even considering the fact that she’d be taking her daughters away from their father over a dinner.

While its a bit of an overreaction I cant blame her, OP mentioned she knew husband since she ran away from home so he knows all about how bad it was, knew the mom was a danger to kids and still tried to potentially get OP's kids in her life. Plus theres just the huge betrayal of trust where she would have probably viewed husband as her safe haven after all those years of abuse, so him going to her behind OP's back would have been a betrayal from the one person she felt she could trust.

Terrible husband sister became terrible dad was horrible then sort of redeemed himself at least op forgave him so but everyone was pretty much terrible beside op obviously and the brother who living his own life. Usually I’m not a fan of a parents refusing to not let the other parent see their kids cause both parents unless they are doing evil things to the children n such deserve to see their kids but I wouldn’t have batted an eye if op did it here I’m kinda petty sometimes and it was well deserved.

Do you actually think people outside of the USA wouldn't take advantage of cheap labor? You hold such a high regard for our species. Such wishful thinking.
@aluralovell68293 ай бұрын
@@southernflight5078 Hell people in the U.S. take advantage of cheap labor, people in this comment section are just extremely sheltered and naive. They think that because it's illegal that it means a damn thing to people who clearly don't give a shit about the law.

Yeah because child labor doesn’t exist in Asian countries. Why do you think Apple outsources all their labor to China?
@aluralovell68293 ай бұрын
I see some very sheltered and naive people in this comment section. Just because it's illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen, people turn a blind eye to stuff like this all the time. Child labor is still a problem to this day regardless of what the law says, people don't follow regulations to the letter all the time and it varies in severity.

Forgiving someone is more than an important part to healing. It IS healing. Releasing yourself from the pain, anger and resentment… that’s what forgiveness is. Reconciliation is a different thing entirely! After forgiving someone you need to analyze the person ask yourself first, based on who this person was would my life be improved with this person in it? If the answer is yes than reconciliation might be a good idea, but if the answer is no ask yourself, do I believe the person has changed enough for my life to be improved with them in it? If the answer is yes then maybe cautiously start to reconnect and see if you’re correct but if the answer is still no reconnecting might be a bad idea and could potentially even be counter productive to your healing giving the person who wounded you a chance to rip those old wounds open all over again!
