Dagger deserves his own video. He is one cool cat. He was depressed after Saber went missing for so long until the kittens came. It took him a little while to figure them out and then all of a sudden he was Daddy cat or Big brother to them. You can tell when he's playing or when he's teaching them. Usually it's both together because that's how cat families do. He is beautiful to boot! Love 💘 you Dagger 🗡 ❤.

@Lazy_Fish_Keeper3 ай бұрын
@@havingfunisnthard there is a big difference between city living and farm living. I've done both. In the city, my cats are indoors unless they are on a leash. In the country? My cats had to work, just like the rest of us. Country living is pretty brutal. People fall into granaries, beams fall on people while building barns, dogs protect humans and livestock and don't always survive, and cats protect food stores and livestock, and don't always survive. Just like living in right relationship with nature, we are not guaranteed to survive. I'm not a fan of the negative impacts cats have on wildlife, however they have found spaying/neutering and providing food reduces the negative impacts on song birds, and even feral cats (as long as they are spayed, neutered and given rabies vaccines) can be a positive influence on rodent control. Living somewhere where mice carry fatal diseases (hanta virus, bubonic plague), my cats are going to have free roam of the property to ensure humans don't catch a preventable fatal disease. Why did the bubonic plague kill off nearly 80% of the European population? Because the Catholic Church convinced everyone that cats were witches' familiars and were in league with the devil, and cats were drowned by the hundreds. Cats absolutely don't belong outside in Australia, Hawaii, and other closed ecosystems where there is no checks and balances to keep cats from wrecking the ecosystem. But Dagger and the kittens are working animals, not city living pets. There's a difference in expectations and lived realities. My farm cats lived longer than my city cats did, and were much happier and more fit. Deaths due to poor choices happened in the first 2 years, just like wildlife and livestock.

@@Lazy_Fish_Keeper even if your cats are ‘working animals’, they decimate local bird populations. I’d say bird populations are more important than things being convenient for you. If your cats in the city didn’t live as long, it’s likely due to poor diet and poor enrichment. Both of which can be remedied by a caring guardian.

I've heard that (some) cats can get over-stimulated easily, which puts them into defense mode, like the behavior you saw when Dagger clawed a bit too fiercely. I have one cat that I can pet for a long time, and when he's done he just leaves. My other will give a nibble on my offending hand. Gently. My gf's calico gets VERY overstimulated VERY quickly, and reacts with violence!

You should look up the old videos on Grandpa Mason. Mason was an elder street cat with health issues. The rescue decided to let him live out the last of his life in comfort. He did ok but it wasn't until he was introduced to some kittens that he became pretty happy. He'd retrieve a kitten & carry them back to his little yurt for grooming. He also taught the manners with his paw of nope. When there were mothers present he got along with them too. Cats are actually pretty social with their group. The mothers will bond together so that one cares for kittens while the other hunts. There's actually a lot of male cats that have taken on fostering kittens. Its great for the kittens to have an older cat to guide them. I can see Dagger has really bonded to them but also insures they know he's the one in charge. They're going to learn so much from him & he's really going to enjoy the company. Oh the channel name was tiny kittens i believe. They often have live cameras on the feral Mama's with kittens or having kittens for the last time. You can even see mamas from the same colony team up to raise tteir kittens. Once i even got to see a live csection. Thankfully mama & babies did good. It was quite interesting though i wish it hadn't been necessary.
