Spoiler for One Piece Episode 400 something It's confirmed that Shanks had a billion and above bounty at that point in the story. A mere sea beast would've been nothing to him, but he prioritised saving Luffy over dealing with the beast which cost him his arm

"We're not coming back." Just to clarify, Shanks isn't from the same island as Luffy. He and his crew were just passing by while they were in the area. That's why Luffy is always counting when they come back on the first scene of his flashback back in episode 1. The world of One Piece is SO VAST. Even if Shanks wasn't going to the Grand Line, there's so many reasons why their crew wouldn't go back to Luffy's island.

The anime shows how Buggy destroyed the town. He has a particularly large cannon, the Buggy Cannon. Showing us the destroyed city is on the one hand an Easter egg, but on the other hand it also has to do with Nami's story arc.

When someone mentions they are not coming back, the seas in one piece work differently than the ones in our world. Once you enter thr grand line, yo have to go through the whole line (which is like an equator) until you can return to where you started, the sea beasts will destroy your ship if you try to get out of it.

I should explain bounties. Bounties in One Piece are basically the equivalent of what Power Levels are in Dragonball. It's a measure of how strong of a pirate the government considers someone to be. Shanks has a bounty that is in the billions (as we'll see later, he is incredibly powerful). Also with Devil Fruit Eaters (as the characters who eat one are called), they get a form of Kryptonite. Sea water renders them powerless temporarily, and they lose all ability to swim as soon as they start munching the fruit.

Luffy doesn't know what a pirate is. Seriously the only pirate thing he does is steal a map. Honestly he's probably the most effective pirate hunter in 2 episodes he's beaten 2 wanted pirate captains. Technically we've seen Luffy fight more pirates than Zorro the pirate hunter at this point. The thing is, Luffy's whole deal is being free and not letting anyone else ever tell him what to do..... Governments tend to get very ornery when you tell them "Nah, not going to listen to you." Government don't care if you crimes are actually being a murdering, ravaging a-hole, or just refusing to pay your taxes, it's all a crime, and criminals on the seas are pirate, ergo, Luffy is, in the eyes of the government, a pirate just by virtue of being on the seas and refusing to acknowledge their authority.axes,

If you only watched the Live action, there are spoilers ahead.... Nah bruh, Luffy invaded the most secure prison in all of the world and was one of the leaders of the biggest riot and escapes of Impel Down. That is one of the most pirate sh1t someone can do in One Piece, NOT even gonna mention Enies Lobby and punching a Tenryuubito. White beard was a GREAT pirate and he didn't go out plundering, he kept plenty of islands free of violence just by letting them use his flag as a sing that they were under White Beard's protection, and Luffy also does that. You can be good and still be a pirate, but you have to go against the government, that's the one thing that ALL pirates have in common (honestly, everyone should be checking the government at all times, even if you elected it).

I'm not going to scream praises for this show. I'm just going to say that as a casual watcher of the anime that never made it past the first 150 episodes, this is a very good adaptation. The Cowboy Bebop adaptation, the Death Note adaptation, trash. This is quite good, and the actors took their roles seriously, and brought their best to play the characters. You can tell the difference between actors phoning in their performances and the joy these actors brought to their parts. They had fun, which is very important to a good performance, whether you are Anthony Hopkins hamming it up in Silence of the Lambs, or Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool. Actors enjoying their work bring a lot more to the screen than miserable actors reciting lines and standing around waiting for someone to yell "Cut!"

Awsering the gory question on anime is not that gkry because toei also is adapting the manga and not following 100% specially in the begining... but manga was way more gore even more than LA because some scenes in manga were to visual even for LA now i gona talk about a scen with out spoilers so u will know that someone did something here in LA but in manga they show u him doing it, i will tell u better whe is not a spoiler js still in season 1 so to reseme, LA is more and adaptacion of the manga written by eichiro oda sensei than an adaptacion of the anie so both have the touch of whos directing of corse all under aproval of oda because like i said i knon's how much toei change the begining of the anime and that made the show lack in relation to the manga now he controls toei more and the anime follows manga almost 100%
