I usually never comment on KZbin but here we go lol. Since you're asking what videos we want: Something I'd love to see from you would be a video about how to combine running and strenght training, i.e. how to run more/faster without losing your strength, specific gym workouts for runners and so on. I know lifting is really big right now, but some of us also still love long runs and treadmill sessions :). You're amazing at both so I think it would be super interesting to hear what you have to say! Thanks for the great content as always ❤️

You are by far one of the smartest fitness influencers out here. I am a 56 years old women who has struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. But 2 1/2 years ago I started a serious weight loss journey because I had a few health problems that were a result of being overweight. I have since lost about 50lbs and I have kept it off. I purchased "Build " last summer and I incorporate compound lifting as well. My body is beginning to change and most people think that I have lost more weight. But I haven't. I am so grateful for you and a few other youtubers for your informative content. It has literally helped to change my life💖

I lost 66 pounds in a two-year span and exercised to the point I now have defined abs and look and feel like never before. What I discovered is that “Diet” or going on one is usually something we do temporarily. What worked for me was to gradually change my eating habits to the point where I now have total control over what I eat, but I don’t suffer while doing so. I eat pretty much anything, but I make sure to watch out for the amount on which I eat any type of food. The moment you forbid yourself from eating something in particular you’ve failed without even begining. At least that was what worked for me. Still going strong 💪🏻!

If we just all learned to listen to our bodies and work with them, rather then against them - eat when hungry and stop when full- we would not need all these crazy diets But we eat for so many reasons, aside from hunger- sadness, loneliness, boredom... and then when we are actually really hungry, we deprive ourselves I was anorexic for almost two decades and know how challenging food, hunger and listening to your body can be. However I am so grateful I learned to finally trust my body and to look at food as what it is - nourishment, nothing more, nothing less. I am not sure how much of an active life you lead, but that is always the key thing to lose weight. It is very challenging to juggle a job or other responsibilities with staying active, but if you find a way, that would be good. Personally, I don’t believe 1.5 hours are enough per day if the person is leading a sedentary lifestyle. And there’s a difference between running errands at a leisure pace vs. power walks. (You probably know all of this, but I don’t know what your actual situation is).

As an obese person who has done several diets over the last decade (including when I was a healthy weight and didn't need to), I've experienced weight rebounds first hand. As I got more familiar with the science (via my biology degree) it started to feel like there was no avenue for me to reduce my weight and improve my health sustainably without it all eventually getting worse than when I started. Thanks Natacha. I love your videos. Content that's real. I've followed you for so long and it has taken me a long time, lots of research and learning from lots of people and using myself as a Guinea pig to accept all these challenges I went on to lose weight quick only ended up in putting the weight back on. Restriction and low calorie diets sabotaged my performance at training and made me obsess about food cause I was so hungry. Adding in a cheat day a week just made me binge and eat like I'd never seen food before and to consume everything I could cause I know I couldn't touch any of these foods again till the next cheat day. Anyways, I'm 41 now and finally I have kicked dieting goodbye. It is not a word I use. I now focus on eating nutrient dense foods that fuel me and i don't count calories or track macros or eliminate food groups and if I'm hungry i eat and when I'm full I stop. Finally over 8 mths of this I have noticed now when I bought a bag of chips the other day I had a handful and didnt want anymore. I ordered a dessert and shared it and didn't finish my half cause I was satisfied. Pretty much half my whole life I've starved and calorie restricted and if I got my hands on a bag of chips on a cheat day I'd easily polish of 1 to 2 bags and then polish off 3 desserts. I would never be satisfied and I'd lie awake at night thinking about food. It was such a great feeling that my body and mind could tell me it had enough. I don't need to binge cause if I want a snack tomorow I allow myself. My training has improved. Strength improved but most importantly my relationship with food has improved. This one was the hardest and also accepting the body I have been given and loving the healthiest and strongest version of myself. Lots of love to you 😘♥️

I’m a pharmacist from the US and I can confidently say you are way more knowledgeable about this than the vast majority of doctors even. I genuinely learned so much, especially regarding the many mechanisms that suppress outer metabolism as we lose weight and calorie restrict. This synthesizes well with some information for low carb advocates regarding the incompleteness of calorie restriction alone but I believe the benefits from the keto diet could be better achieved by simply targeting low glycemic index food, helping to curb hunger and introducing more fiber into the diet.

I’m so tired of seeing these work out influencers that claim to be all about helping while at the same time promoting different teas and diets and in my mind discrediting themselves because of bs science they promote. You’re smart and keeping it real! When I’m watching this channel I don’t have to worry about weird sponsorships because the ones you do take make sense for your channel and I can trust you. Keep being awesome !

There’s Stephanie Buttermore and Jeff Nippard here on KZbin as well. Jeff is more oriented towards a body building type audience, but it’s still interesting to see the studies he presents and he’s also talked about undoing the damage that body building diets have had on him and his mentality towards eating.

I'm so glad there are videos like that on the internet. Knowledge is power. I've been overweight or borderline obese for most of my life, I tried to change it but the motivation on a diet that deprives you very rapidly of most your calorie intake disappears very quickly. I was lucky that during my studies (pharmacy) I had a bromatology course. Once I understood the science behind the food and our physical response to it, as well the benefits of achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight everything changed. It's so much easier to stay on track when you can set realistic expectations for your body. There's still a lot of work before me but glad to take my time and slowly improve my health. Just for me.

Dear natacha, thank you so much for all the hard work and time you pit in all your content. I actually deleted myfitnesspal today after bindge watching your videos the last couple of days. I restrict calories to a max of 1800 every day and i could not stop thinking about food. (I did lose 12 kilos so i am down to 56 kilos , but i realize fat los is one thing but i need to feed my muscles to actually look good) you made me realize i need to back up and eat more so i can get my period back it's bin 93 days since my last on. So tomorrow i am getting back to my big love yoga and restrict working out to a max of 1,5 hours a day . Thank you for all you do

This video genuinely changed my life for the better! Anytime I’ve ever tried to lose weight, I always cut my calories SO much. I’d usually see results but they’d never last. After seeing this video, it inspired me to make some serious changes in how I approached weight loss and I’ve found a plan that has helped me lose nearly 50 lbs and I’ve never felt stronger or more capable. Thank you Natacha for always being your genuine self and for being so passionate about educating people like me who have been woefully misguided our whole lives. I’m paying it forward by trying to share the knowledge you’ve given me and countless others. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU, and please keep making science explained videos! 💕

Thank you so much for everything you do Natacha, your positive impact must be immeasurable. I'm trying to fix my toxic relationship with food after years of extreme calorie restriction and binging. In the first part of your video you discuss the impact of reduced calories even after you go back to a higher calories such as sensitive to stress... I know this is very general but do you have any ideas about how long it could take to reverse these effects?

This is so true in my experience. I was very obese and sick because of it. So my doctor had me go on a very low calorie diet. I dropped 40 pounds really fast but I was tired all the time. We moved my calories up to 1200 a day from 400 and I plateaued for an entire two months! In the meantime I had taken up lifting because I noticed I was feeling more energetic. I found I really liked powerlifting! I started working with a coach and they tried to convince me over and over that I would not progress with that extreme calorie deficit and that I was leaving myself vulnerable to injury. Well I got injured! LOL. I ended up getting depressed and deciding i would just eat whatever but still healthy while I was recovering. Just take a break from lifting and tracking food... and I started losing weight again. Slowly but it was happening. I got back into the gym but changed from a powerlifting program to more of a bodybuilding one. I started running for fun because I just felt so good and had so much energy. My mood was improving. I started tracking again but without having a limit, just to make sure I was getting enough protein and carbs. I found I was naturally eating between 1800-2400 calories a day. I have been steadily losing a pound every other week. Without even thinking about it. It's so cool! Even cooler than that though is that I've starved myself down to much lighter weights than I am now and I looked worse. I'm probably more lean right now than I've ever been in my life, and I'm a full 20 pounds heavier than I was at my lightest. I even fit into smaller clothes. I have binge eating disorder and dieting really really contributed to it. But now I don't restrict food at all and I finally feel like I'm free from it. I only think about food if I'm hungry or grocery shopping. It's so worth it to let go of rapid weight loss and just nourish your body. I promise you will feel so good!

You have no idea how much I needed this today!!! I have been struggling with an ED that has been on and off since 2012. It's been 8 years, some of them I spent being underweight and doing an excessive amount of exercise, but most of them I was doing nothing and was a bit too chubby to be fully happy. I recently lost a bit of weight and now I'm trying to remain this way without going up, my mind is constantly bugging me with thoughts of fasting or restricting after a bad day. And I was just having such a bad day today. I am happy I found you, I have never related to vloggers who had EDs in the past as much as you.

The truth: Most people are emotionally eating. Hit the root of the emotion that is causing the eating (the past sexual abuse, the stressful job etc.) and then eating whole foods as a lifestyle becomes significantly easier. Most people diet and hit af mental point oaf not deserving to be there and return right back to eating the caloric diet that helped them suppress the emotions

Natacha, another incredible difference between obese patients and non obese patients is the parasympathetic nervous system activity. Obesity causes parasympathetic responses that up-regulate the production of parietal cells in our stomach. Parietal cells are responsible for producing acid in our stomachs to chemically break down food as we digest. Because their activity is up-regulated, they overproduce acid. This is one major cause of acid reflux (and why we see it significantly more often in obese patients), and by extension, can lead to Barrett’s esophagus- which eventually makes the patient much more susceptible to esophageal cancer. But another newly-ish discovered characteristic of parietal cells is that they make us feel much hungrier. And since obese patients are producing waaaaay more parietal cells, they are much more likely to feel the hunger pains caused by the up-regulation of them. Super interesting stuff!

Watching your science based videos make me want to study biology and chemistry again! I used to hate learning about metabolism, but since I train applying my own knowledge from experience and research and mixing it with your workouts, I want to learn more about nutrition and how it affects your body, and watching you makes me feel so motivated and positive. Also, I have quite an athletic build and I'm muscly but just need to shed a bit of fat from legs and tummy, are there any pointers you could give? Maybe cut down slightly on a certain macro or just about 10% of overall calories? I can't really find much online as most of it are weight loss diets which I definitely want to avoid. PS I could literally binge watch your videos, they're absolutely amazing!
