Love this reaction! And, so you know, it wouldn't be "weird" for you to react to all of NF's music -- many reactors have done just that (and seen their channel blown up as a result)! Dear Nic, I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reaction to NF's song "Nate." I found your commentary on the symbolism of the black balloons in NF's song "Nate" quite intriguing. If you're curious about their significance, I would highly recommend exploring NF's other songs, as they provide further insight into the meaning behind the black balloons. I believe it would greatly benefit your understanding and interpretation of his music if you watched his videos from the start. NF's songs are deeply personal and autobiographical, serving as a window into his life, struggles, and emotions. By following his journey chronologically, you will witness the progression of his artistry and the evolution of his storytelling. Starting from NF's early songs, such as "Mansion," provides crucial context for understanding his background and the foundation upon which he builds his music. "Mansion" introduces us to the concept of his mind as a metaphorical mansion, representing his internal battles and demons. Moving forward, songs like "Intro" and "Outro" from the "Therapy Session" album delve into his childhood, highlighting the raw pain and trauma that shaped him. "How Could You Leave Us" and "Real" from the "Therapy Session" album are emotionally charged tracks that explore the devastating loss of his mother and the challenges he faces as an artist. By progressing through his discography, you'll witness the growth and maturation in NF's lyrical prowess and production value. Each album adds new layers to his story, such as "The Search" and "Clouds," where he confronts fame, self-doubt, and the pressures of the music industry. In essence, watching NF's videos in order allows you to appreciate the depth of his journey, connecting the dots between his songs and gaining a comprehensive understanding of his life experiences. It enhances your ability to analyze his artistry, appreciate his vulnerability, and grasp the overarching themes that define his music. I hope you find this suggestion valuable and consider exploring NF's discography from the beginning. It will undoubtedly provide you with a richer perspective on his work and deepen your appreciation for his unique storytelling abilities.

16:20 .. or perhaps a black balloon? It's funny bc it never occurred to me how someone new to Nate would connect the balloons to the birthday songs b/c the balloons are literally the metaphor for his "burdens" for the entire album (The Search) this track is on. And as some others mentioned.. he did, in-fact, write this song as part of his time being treated by therapists.. very impressive notation. I'm both a therapist myself, but also with my own diagnosis.. i share similar distate for labels as you do due to glamorisation, self hatred due to stigma, or tools for self victimisation some use it for.. especially people who self diagnose. I always try to teach my patients about the wonderful side of their differently ordered brain. The wording in the DSM for symptoms are just awful b/c I know that every curse can also be a blessing. An example i always remind myself of is how some people might be able to go from A to B.. whereas for others like me, might have to go A to G to D etc to finally get to B. If you always keep moving, you will eventually always get to B. The beautiful side i really try to teach people is how lucky we are to make those multiple stops b/c we get to see and experience so much more Life, whilst simultaneously exercising our minds into Warriors. Positive reinforcement and positive language needs to be employed in therapy much more than it currently is. I absolutely hate the beating our profession is currently taking due to diff legislations on how we (in the US) are even allowed to address our clients in certain situations. I teach DBT so i fortunately get a pass and have much more room to use different methodologies in Alternative Therapies to help clients learn how to accept and learn to control their "demons" instead of being a victim to them. Positive wording holds so much power I wish future therapists would be taught to utilise more b/c i truly believe the amount of medication people have been given for things they could easily learn to cognitively change under a positive therapist is insane. #NFRealMusic You're doing a wonderful job.

@23:00 you talk about winning at life and wondering how hes getting along now. Nate answers you in his newest album Hope on the track "Hope". Some of the lyrics: "What's my definition of success? (Of success) Listening to what your heart says (your heart says) Standing up for what you know is (is) Right, while everybody else is (is) Tucking their tail between their legs (okay) What's my definition of success? (Of success) Creating something no one else can (else can) Being brave enough to dream big (big) Grinding when you're told to just quit (quit) Giving more when you got nothin' left (left) It's a person that'll take a chance on Something they were told could never happen It's a person that can see the bright side Through the dark times when there ain't one It's when someone who ain't never had nothin' Ain't afraid to walk away from More profit 'cause they'd rather do something That they really love and take the pay cut It's the person that would never waiver Or change who they are Just to try and gain some credibility So they can feel accepted by a stranger It's a person that can take the failures in their life And turn 'em into motivation It's believing in yourself when no one else does It's amazin'"

Great reaction! As others have said, you will get a loyal following of NF fans in doing reactions to his music. From here I would suggest doing a list of several of the "must-listens" suggested in the comments, then after that you could go back and dig deeper through each album if desired. Grouping songs in chronological order is not necessary, but might make it easier to understand certain references and see his personal progress from one album to the next. I'd like to add a couple of must-listens from his newest album, Hope: "Happy" (great tune & insightful song--perfect to check out any time) and "Running" (which will make more sense when you're much further along on this journey).

It's somehow what I needed right when I needed it and I am experiencing for I don't know how manieth time the feeling that some sort of Providence out there is sometimes sending things my way to pick me up and nudge me along. Thank you for doing what you do! I don't know much about you, but, if you ever have moments of doubt about this channel, its reach and what you do here, remember that there are the likes of me, for whom even just "that-one-video-that-one-time" can mean an "aha" moment that changes many, many things. In the spirit of paying back, or paying forward, I'd like to recommend another artist that you may appreciate. It's a mindblowing Chinese singer that I discovered a few years back, Hua Chenyu. Whether it's the more recent, original songs, or older ones, that include covers that he made his own, there are plenty of powerful, thought provoking performances. My all time favorite is "Fake Monk", from the 2018 edition of the show Singer. I recommend the subbed version, the lyrics are always worth it. A few others: Ordinary Path, Child, Qi Tian, Sacred Tree, I really want to love this world and many, many more. Enjoy!

Bon soir, Dr Nic, love the way you have such an open mind. I'm pretty new to NF too, just listened here and there. Its quite dark and intense, but the same time uplifting ,empowering and defiant. Benefit of hindsight? We can pass on what we have experienced and turn it around for the greater good. When you get outside of it. I'm reminded of a song by The Smiths, Ask Me. I liked when I was younger. Shyness is nice, shyness can stop you, from doing all the things in life you'd like too. I don't know if you have seen Rens live performance of Hi Ren yet, not surprisingly I found it great. Best wishes.

@SuzanneO707
@SuzanneO707 Жыл бұрын
@@nichooper7 Cheers! It was the first line, in the song. It said a lot to me at the time. People think shyness is nice, and endearing. but often its masking lack of confidence, sensitivity & self doubt. Like a sort of shield, often when your young and still working things out. Things that can really stop you realising your potential and doing things you like to. Asking for help or reaching out feels like a massive hurdle when it looks like from your standing, noone feels the same. Oh yes they do, even the people around you that seem confident and accomplished. I found when first started Higher Education , was so self possessed and full of ideas and potential, but I didn't have the background knowledge, and toolkit to sail through it on a practical level ecspecially. That said, I connected with people who were like minded, other students and some teaching staff and they connected with me. So it wasn't so bad. It was much better than, shrinking my world and not experiencing things that can give you some strength , hope. Sure enough, it takes some trust, conviction , self belief. And there will be some embrassment, pain and disappointment. But I think overall its worth it if you can or your selling yourself short. Who wants to look back and think, I wish Id did this or didn't do that? Your right Dr Nic, you are where you are and sometimes you can't change negative things going on and the obstacle course of life. I'm waffling again, but I think its so important for people ecspecially the Young to have a feeling they are okay, and have understanding place to to get by and unburden themselves, but also have a realistic toolkit to get beyond the things that are holding them back.

I subbed for NF but also because you know what you’re talking about. But if you say men can have babies that’s gonna be a problem 😂

Appreciate the sub! I doubt very much that I'll be saying that.

I know that he's angry here, and there usually is a degree of anger in his vocal performance. On the other hand I would love you to listen to NF - Let You Down or NF - If You Want Love. He sings a lot more, its the more emotional side of that same coin..

Great recommendations there, I think seeing that angle of NF will be really interesting. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Nic.
