Most all of Segers music is a well told story that just draws you in and triggers your own memories. Without memories, we are just a bush. Bob Seger will be 80 years old next May. He is awesome and his songs will outlive us all...

Love how society cares when NF puts how so many of us felt into a song, you all cry and comment on how he feels, while ignoring the generations of abused care kids like me....cast out by society nobody cared for us...just aslong as your all pretending you give a tihs its all good yea!!...makes me sick.

I find this use of the English word "ridiculous" strange, even unflattering! 😉 Nothing in this man or his voice is ridiculous.

To me...his "next time , we'll get it right" ....refers to new beginnings, or learning from past mistakes, just like tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and you can dream another big dream without being trapped by the past.....it's an uplifting song...Thank you for doing this !!

The term "freedom" means different things to different people depending on what they want in life and choices that they want to make. Freedom for some could mean hopping on a motorcycle and going for a ride through the mountains at any given point in their life. At that particular moment they are free. We all need to feel like we are "free" in our life. I feel this song articulates that. At this moment in his life, Bob needed freedom.

I had a friend who invited me to sit with him in the firm's 5th row seats for a Pistons game. We had to move past a couple of people to get to our seats. When the beer man came by, we ordered two beers and as they were passed down the row to us I turned and realized that it was Bob Seger handing me my beer! My friend and I remained relatively cool, but once Seger was recognized, people swarmed him and he had to leave. I watch a lot of reaction videos and I am so thrilled to see him get the respect he is due.

You're kind of hitting Seger backwards in some respect. Both these songs are from the midlife perspective and as always he captures some of the universal themes beautifully. Some of his earlier songs deal more with more youthful, but in some ways similar, themes. "Ramblin Man", Travelin Man", and the ultimate classic "Night Moves".

To your question of why now? Right now climate change is one thing but to me the bigger part is war. Millions have died from it and yet we humans continue to create war. I'm not going to pinpoint which but right now the ongoing on wld be what's happening with Israel and Palestine. How many more mist suffer for the greed of others?

I will try to make this easy on you, Are you an idiot? One of the greatest song writers ever, in my book. John Denver, Eagles, Journey, The Beatles, to name a couple. Take the time to listen to, Live Bullit, Nine Tonight, Night Moves, Against The Wind, The River My God, the list goes on and on. Three Dog Night, Seals and Crofts. Flight, you wanna talk about flight, Wife and I on our Harley, Wisconsin, ten, fifteen years ago, Two lane road, clear day, and this bald eagle, came out of a tree line to the south of us About fifty to seventy yards, to our right, And flew semi beside us for the width of this farmers field, And then back up in the trees it went Gave me chills, We knew he was just hunting, but? I was walking, By the River, I held my hand out, To feel the rain. Don't be an idiot, Take a saturday, and to as much of Bob Seger as you can. Priceless.

The children followed the piper with no thought with blank minds when we engage in war because our leaders say so we are following the piper not because the cause is worthy but because they tell us to.

Seger didn't have kids until around the age of 40 with his current wife. He walked away from his career to have those kids and didn't return to music professionally until the kids were grown. Seger had the freedom but chose to have the happiness that that freedom didn't really give him. He has said that he wouldn't have done it any other way. Freedom can be great but also can be an empty burden. I think you have take the freedom to choose to be free from everything or to be happy and fulfilled.

this is not a "song", it is a "crie de coeur", coming from the bottom of his soul, begging for us humans to take more control in stopping the suffering caused by the decisions so few people have the power to carry out

the "piper" 'is any world leader lying to their people to get their support so that they claim power to carry out their selfish, anti-humanist, dehumanizing deeds, exacting suffering on us all, including their supporters think t*ump, or p*tin one message of the text is that one way to stop these people from wreaking their havoc in the first instance is to simply stop supporting them, en masse
