Guys, I watched the Con Artist episode expecting the standard Wikipedia readings about Ponzi Schemes, famous con men, and everyone’s surprise when you all heard con man is short for confidence man. Then, wham! You have a legit grifter/comedian actually explaining how cons work. Very informative. You may have helped some older people avoid getting scammed. Nice work, heroes. Then again, I’m not here to learn, I’m here to laugh. Part of that laughter is hearing three guys from the lower backside of an IQ bell curve explain topics like American History and Physics. It’s interesting to hear an expert correctly explain something like an IPO or the Stock Market, but it’s funny when defined from fallible source material on the internet, then interpreted and explained by the three of you. Here’s hoping knowledgeable experts can be kept to a minimum. Keep up the great work. Jim

Almost 6 months ago I was sitting in a hospital room with my wife and newborn son (listening to the “Animals” episode and laughing uncontrollably at the “Paynguin debate” . Fast forward to now, we are back in the hospital for my 6 month old son, having lots of tests done on his heart. We have been here a couple of days and I have truly been waiting for the Wednesday morning drop of the latest Nateland episode to take my mind off everything going on. It’s just what I needed! Thank you for the laughs, we love y’all so much!

My wife and I started dating at a Double-A baseball game that I snuck us into using an expired press pass and a very poorly printed duplicate that had the same exact name on it. I told her to fake a phone call and look very stressed so that the security guard wouldn’t ask to look at the pass and then five minutes later I walked in with the same exact pass. We had to walk up to the press box to really sell our con and then moved behind the dugout. By the fifth inning she was my girlfriend and two years later we got married. Thanks for the great episode folks.

How AWESOME that Gary has done and is doing all he can to live a different life!!! CANNOT express how much ADMIRATION and RESPECT for Gary being real, being transparent and bulldozing through his entire life's building to change what all things were setting him up to be so he could be a MAN of INTEGRITY and GRIT!!!! The fact he didn't go the path of ease, of least resistance and glamorize the life that truly devastated and brought pain. He's incredible, absolutely a ROCKSTAR! Gary has earned honor! I hope his deepest and richest desires for being the man he is striving to will come to fruition!

Since Nate’s stories are random, here’s one of mine. True story. Set in 2005. My family from Michigan came to visit us in Alabama. My dad and brother went golfing with my Uncle and cousin (Deer Run course) While waiting for another guy to finish up, the ball literally shot backwards in a freak accident. It struck my cousin (who had already had one brain surgery in his life) RIGHT in the head. He ended up at Huntsville hospital for weeks and had another major surgery on his brain. Fast forward to a year later when they came back to visit. Our Pastor did an illustrated sermon where he literally hit golf balls into the balcony near where we were sitting. I’ve never seen my aunt snatch my cousin up and run screaming” no!” the entire way out of any place so fast in my life.🤣 Truth is stranger than fiction!

So Nate has been my favorite comedian since I ran across him on Pandora years ago, but it wasn't until this podcast that I realized the creepy number of things we have in common. We're the same age, our daughters are the same age, both named Harper and both are little heaters that have taken over our beds. We have the exact same golf handicap, and half of his special sounded like he was describing my childhood. Just falling off of bunkbeds, bad concussions and they kept sending me back to class and I even got saved from drowning (Explains a lot in both our cases)! Most importantly we have the same healthy distrust of statistics! So what I'm saying is... identity theft is not a joke Nate!

As a producer, I have to tell you that I love and respect Nate so much for doing smooth transitions and putting that much thought into it. It is so satisfying because a lot of talent that I work with says "that's your job" but Nate loves his craft so much that he puts everything on himself. Must be a dream to work with. However, breakfast & goutfoot...breathing and giggling are NOT good transitions for Nateland, but I'm sure it works for Aaronland's Breakfast Special sponsored by Magic Spoon

When you watch all the episodes and get accustom to you guys constantly give him crap for going to ND and his use of “big” words, that small insert bates threw in about the word popping up in something he was watching and he was happy he knew what it meant, made me laugh so hard. Just last Christmas I'm sitting in my parents house and I get a facebook message from my grandma which almost never happens. It's a link with a blurred out photo and the message says "look what I just found". To me, a 31 year old, I immediately knew it was fake and deleted it, but in the 20 seconds it took me to walk to the other side of the house and tell my mom to ignore any messages from grandma, she had already clicked the link and put in her facebook login and password. It's just not a skill the older generation are going to learn. Sadly a lot of them get their details stolen.

There was a scam on eBay and Craigslist for guitar players. If you're selling a guitar the buyer will ask you if they can send you a check. If you agree they will send you a check for $500 more than you were selling it for. They then would contact you and say We made a terrible mistake, would you mind sending us back the difference asap when the check clears. I deposited the check and I saw it was in my account but still waited. The check bounced after 3 days. International checks take 3 days to verify so that's how they get you. I told this story at a dinner party and a guy who I didn't know got up and threw a buttered roll at the wall and left the party. I found out he was an unfortunate soul that lost a Gibson Les Paul and $700 dollars. Be suspicious of everyone, like Gary said. :) This was officially the longest this I've ever written on KZbin and I made it longer by explaining that fact. Love the show!

My Confidence Man Accomplishment When my wife was getting her masters, I would sometimes accompany her to her evening classes and hang out on campus with our two young kids. One week there was a concert series that was free for students and substantially more expensive for non-students. As I was still wearing a tie from work as a teacher, I figured I wouldn't be stopped by college students taking tickets if I acted like I was supposed to be there. It worked! The next night, I had my 2 year-old daughter sprint in ahead of me. No one would stop a guy chasing a toddler for his ticket. It worked again! Sadly, my scheme to college students to pay ME money to spend time with kids and thus impress members of the opposite gender with future parenting skills found no success. I'll go proofread this now.

I can't believe Bean Dip said "Nobody got hurt." Really? He took people to court after faking injuries in his car or having his kid fake injuries. He sued AT&T for something they didn't do. He was sued on numerous occasions for stealing people's money. He took people's money for furniture and then never delivered any furniture. That's just the stuff we know about. This dude made a career out of hurting people.

I was just referring to the Sports Illustrated For Kids scam of sneaking into sporting events.

@@brianbatescomedy OK. I really didn't like this episode and it is the first one I've really disliked. So I was probably being a little nit picky. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

If you like stuff on con artists, "Sneaky Pete" on Amazon Prime was a good show (Season 1. The other two were garbage). Hearing the story about Gary's dad reminded me a lot of it.
