I am going to initialize the X32 rack, and just leave it like it is. This unit loses the main outs when routing and loading a saved screen doesn't get them back. Behringer support is an oxymoron.

For us non sound engineers, mixers can be exceptionally confusing. However, Nathan makes this very understandable. This totally jacked up my S32 Rack. I have no outputs now. I think there are a few programming bugs in the Rack. My saved scenes have no output to the mains. This is an expensive paperweight.

I've been there, frustration is what lead me to make these X32 Routing Videos. I decided I needed to learn, really learn this system if I was going to be able to use it successfully for my church. Start at the basics, Do you have input?. Yes, Great! Now let's get the outputs working. "OUT 1-16" is where you assign the x32 outputs, 16 mixbus, but normally only assign 14 Mixbus and use 2 for the Main L/R. 7/8 or 15/16 are usually Main L/R. Now on the "XLR" tab, set 1-4, and 5-8 to be OUT 1-4, and OUT 5-8. Then connect speakers to XLR connectors 7/8 on the x32 rack and it should work. If you have a connected stage box, On the AES50-A tab, Assign your OUT 1-8, 9-16. Now if you connect speakers to 7/8, or 15/16 you should get audio out to the speakers. Great video, I've learned a lot from it! But one thing I'm curious about is splitting the input signal. I Have the X32 rack with an S16 stagebox, which should be placed near the drums and connected with x32 rack via AES50 (10 meters). I need to route 1-8 inputs of the S16 into the 1-8 outputs on the rear side of the x32 rack, without being affected by input gain. Basically I just need to split the input signal before any gaining, to feed whatever the FOH console is - I use the x32 for in-ear monitoring, not for FOH mixing. I've successfully routed everything, but unfortunately, PRE-FADER is the lowest option of OUTPUT settings. I'd need something like PRE-GAIN option. Is there a way to do so? Anyways - thank You for your videos :)

To get a pre-gain you could use a Split Snake to connect the input signals to more than 1 Stage Box. Monitors & FOH & Broadcast is a typical setup. Then each console can set the Gain Structure for the channels. -Nathan R

Hi, You can't have more than the 32 XLR Inputs, and 16 Outputs from the X32. But you can pull from multiple stage boxes channels that add up to 32. In the Routing -> Inputs Tab, this is where you select console inputs. Easiest method is to Select the SD8 for Column 1-8, then S16 for Column 9-16, 17-24. For outputs go to the AES50 tab that things are connected on, then Select Output 1-8 to the SD8, and 1-8, 9-16 to the S16. -Nathan R

Thank you for the video! Am I correct in saying that the Full X32 only do 16 outputs in total at one time? I’m wanting to do a setup using a mix of local analog outs and S32 outs, but I don’t think it’s possible. I’d need 18 outs (sub, overflow, 6 stereo monitors, stereo live stream, stereo mains). Can’t seem to figure out if I can do more than 16 at a time. Let me know your thoughts

Yes! You can only do 16 MixBus outputs per x32, but using the USER Outputs, you can send any input of MixBus to the Outputs on the stage box. -Nathan This might be a great video idea, Email me if you'd like to talk further.

Our worship service recently purchased an X32 Compact coupled with an S16 stage box. It seems to me that when routing the inputs and outputs that it is an "all or nothing" setup. You either input Channels 1-16 at the back of the mixer or through the stage box, same with the ouitputs 1-8. Is there a way to divide the inputs and outputs so that certain types of equipment can be located near the mixer, such as wireless mic recievers? Also, the same for outputs? In our situation I would like to keep our wireless recievers (which require one input each), as well as our hearing assist system, which requires one output. I have attempted to "split" the rouiting but by doing so, I either cancel out all signals going through the AES, or vice versa.

Routing used to be as you say "All or Nothing" Really it was Banks of 8. The USER Routing is how you avoid the Banks of 8, You need to configure things so that USER IN 1-32 are selected, then you can pick and choose for each input. Hi Nathan. I have an X32 with an S16 Box. I'm struggling to change the Left and Right XLR (Speakers) output from the back of the desk to AUX 7 & 8 on the S16 Box?

Hi, You can easily connect the S16 to the x32 via AES50-A on both devices. Then in the Routing page-> AES50, Assign "Output 1-8" to the First Column. Then on the "OUT" tab, Assign what audio goes to the 16 outputs, 8 of which are assigned to the 8 XLR Outs on the S16. -Nathan R

Aux Inputs from the 1/4" are pretty simple, In Routing-> you can select sources connected to the AUX INs, then on the AUX tab select the outputs. -Nathan R

Question! I’m getting x32 compact very soon. My question is I know that the main left and right default to channels 7 and 8 on the local outs. Can this be changed to 7 and 8 on the stage box and routed to 15 16 on the console?

Yes, Connect the x32 Compact (AES50-A) and Stage Box on (AES50-A). Now in Routing-AES50-A. Select Output 1-8,9-16. Now it's routed, so go into the OUT tab and change the outputs to match what you want. use the XLR tab to set the 8 outputs on the back of the Compact. -Nathan

Could you please explain! I have 2 behringers. 1 rack on stage for In ear monitors and as a digital snake. And 1 behringer for Front Of House. Which I want to send out an L/R signal. I connected them via Aes50 To A and A. But I don’t think I have the routing right, because I don’t have signal going out to speakers on the FOH console? How do I fix this???

Based on what you said. At the FOH console on the AES50-A tab, you need to select OUTPUT 1-8, which sends Output 1-8 to the x32 Rack over AES50. Specifically Output 7-8 are setup to be the Main L/R out from the FOH console. (Via the OUT tab) Then on the x32 Rack, on the XLR tab, this is where you select what inputs that the console is receiving get routed to the XLR output connectors on the back. So we will select AES50-A 1-4, 5-8. This receives the main mix from FOH and outputs it to the Stage x32. how to do output to the different stage boxes not to a stream. For example, we want our mains going out of the main consul, we want our in ears going out of a stage box. I thought this worked like user input routing, but it doesn't appear to. I was hoping you could simply send output one to XLR one for example, on the console and output two to AES 50 output one.

That is a larger conversation than I can have in this reply. I have another video, Linked in the description of this one. That goes into AES50 Routing between Console and Stage Boxes. XLR: Is the Local Console XLR OUT ports. AES50-A: Should connect to the AES50-A port on your stage box, and the AES50-A tab is where you assign outputs to the XLROUT ports on the stage box. Input: This is where you grab channels from Local Ports, Stage Boxes, Aux Inputs, Card Inputs, and assign them to the 32 input channels on the x32/m32. -Nathan

I have an X32 Compact and an S32 stage box. I need to output Mains LR and 8 Wired IEM mixes from the s32. How do I route this on the compact? I thought I followed this video to the T. However, im still only able to use outputs 1-8 on the s32. Does the Astrid on output 9-16 go away once it's configured properly? Im going a little insane at this point. Please help.

On the compact, go to Routing Page. Assuming the S32 is connected via AES50-A on both the compact and the S32. Go to Routing-> AES50-A tab, select 1-8 and 9-16 as Output 1-8 and Output 9-16. That should be all the routing to get Outputs 1-16 to output on the s32. Go to the OUT tab to set what source is set to each output. -Nathan (Email me if you still can’t get it working.)

How do I set up a MAC PC to send audio to X32? Our X32 is set up with an Ethernet cable from the stage box. We also have a Blackmagic ATEM that is receiving sound but it is not sending anything to the X32 so we have no audio. We need help

The AES50 connection between the x32 and the stage box, it uses an Ethernet cable but that's all it has in common with networking. To get audio from the computer to the stage box, use an Audio Interface such as a Focusrite 2i2. This device will have a USB-C connection to the computer, then the outputs on the back will get converted from 1/4" tp XLR and connect to the stage box inputs. If your MAC Pro is within a few feet of the x32, you could also use the USB connection. Then go to the Routing page, CARD tab and in the 4 columns, select the console inputs you want to send to the device on the other end of the USB connection. With this USB connection, the x32 will automatically receive audio on CARD 1/2, which is the computers main L/R. If you'd like additional help, email me. Hi! Unfortunately, only one x32 can control the gains on the connected stage boxes. If you have multiple x32 consoles that share the same stage boxes, only one can control the gains. If you want separate gain control, you need a split snake and a second set of stage boxes. -Nathan

The routing directly on the X32 is abysmal, my best advice is to load Mixing Station on to your Mac/iPad/iPhone or PC, and use the routing tab in the App. So simple and straight forward, I couldn’t believe how complicated they had made it to do it on the desk. Mixing Station is also a great way to mix out front.

For me I find my best workflow is to use the IOS app to Mix (If I don't have a Console), then if I need any routing done I use X32-Edit on my MacBook. -Nathan R
