Hey guys , this is my dad (the one on piano and playing the flute) Rob Woodward. And my nan the older lady on piano Hilda Woodward. She is no longer with us ATM , the last words out of her mouth before she died was mouldy old dough. It reminds me of her and I miss her dearly it's so nice to see the lovely comments on here. @staceygrove59762 жыл бұрын
@Bad Lieutenant Same as you, I gave up on football many years ago for similar reasons. Bolton were not the most entertaining team ever to win Div 3, but they were a very strong and well organized side under Jimmy Armfield in 72-73. I was at Boundary Park on 6 January 1973 in a crowd of almost 20,000 when we beat the Wanderers 2-0, and by the end of the month we were top of the division, two points ahead of Bournemouth and three points clear of Bolton. Sadly the pressure got to us, and we began to struggle, but we were still in with a mathematical chance of promotion in the final game of the season, but had to settle for fourth place after a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

It's such a great song: I remember it clearly from when it was first played on the radio over here (Denmark). The announcer claimed it had been recorded in an entrance hall. Both the record and this video must bring back sweet memories of your dad and your nan, bless her.

Pigeon’s Mum is on the other piano (doing the main melody) and I believe held the record for the oldest performer on a No. 1 hit, beating Louis Armstrong by a few months.

@AJames-mh2dp3 жыл бұрын
This is such a cool & wacky little tune. It's the kind of song you hear once and it sticks in your head the whole day. It's sad that this song failed to even chart here in the U.S. after achieving such great success elsewhere. Just goes to show how out of step we can be here in the U.S. at times. And it's not as if novelty songs weren't charting in the U.S. in 1972 either. Both Chuck Berry's "My Ding-A-Ling" and Hot Butter's "Popcorn" were both huge hits here that year. If we could sing along with a man playing with his ding-a-ling, we certainly could've enjoyed some mouldy old dough.
Interesting Lieutenant Pigeon are from Coventry and Chuck Berry recorded his live version of My Ding-A -ling at the Locarno ballroom in Coventry when he played there.

Well, I really love Lieutenant Pigeon. They make me cry. The other day I was listening to Mouldy Old Dough when my son came in, and I was crying. He said, 'Dad, why are you crying?' I said, it's the song I'm listening to that's making me cry. So he replied, 'Stop LISTENING to the song, then!'. I said, just because I'm crying, it's not a bad thing. You can still cry and be happy.

I think that's your nostalgia speaking. 70s Britain looked sh*te. So bleak and depressing, everyone seemed poor and on strike. Weren't there power cuts too? Britain was on its arse back then and on the brink of ruin
@TonyWeaving11 ай бұрын
I was only a child back then. Yes Britain was on its backside but everybody was more friendlier and there was not so much rubbish around like we have today. You had to live it to appreciate it. By the way I am now 60 and was born in 1963. I wish we could go back to those times as well.
@HRHooChicken11 ай бұрын
@@TonyWeaving again I can’t help but think you miss your youth rather than the 70s in general. Hardships bring people together but you also get crime and misery. And I suppose you appreciated things more because you had less. But would you really want to go back to a time of having crap food, having to save up for a chocolate bar, no car or a crappy British car that didn’t work, unsafe jobs, no foreign holidays, cold house, brown and avocado colours everywhere! Ugh
