1939- nice with the slide. 2021- crisper sound, with rich depth with fingering, which I like.

Ordinarily, the Duolians had mahogany while their upscale Triolian siblings got maple necks. Acc to National’s spec, the Collegian has a maple neck, so that in large part may explain the perceived tonal differences in what may be apples vs oranges comparison. Can you you please comment if somehow the ‘38 Duolian does have a maple neck? Tnx.

My opinion the new Nationals sound better than the vintage. Made better now

Unless you have to have the vintage mojo the Collegian is more bang for the buck.

Vintage is a better more open sound in my opinion…sounds like a resonator should….

Disagree. Metal does not sweeten with age like wood. Just because it’s old does not mean has better sound in a steel guitar
