Prettu suck coming from a nation of 1.5 billion excel only in cricket. Hockey has been dominated in 20-60's in olympic, won 1 out of 15 world cup tournament, since then India pride and prowess sliding down and replaced by European. India women roles has been discouage and discrminate in every phase by Indian men, this example can be emplified by double winner jwala Gutta in badminton and Sanir in tennis for lack of support and reward after winning the Gold medal and championship. ASk yourself a question Pulki Shame, would father, son brother, uncle allows their daughter, auntie, niece and wifes to pursue Tennis, hockey as a career. You hardly seen India women play sports or social outing at the park in western countries either!

I am convinced that India will celebrate significantly more success in the next 20 years. You just have to offer sports as fun for the kids. Americans live by a motto. It was a blessing and a curse at the same time. "The land of unlimited possibilities". If you put this trust in your future as a child, then you can become anything! Sometimes an idiot too...like Trump!^^sry

By offering a wide variety of sports, they will find out over the years what suits their children and they encourage this further in clubs. The Olympic Committee should also recognize cricket as an Olympic discipline. Is hockey also played in India? I see a great future for India in this sport!

Palkiji🌹, India 🇮🇳 is known as a "One Sport Country.". All of Us spent Our time playing Cricket only 🏏. Although Badminton 🏸 was also My Favourite sport... Cricket, Specially IPL has overshadowed all remaining Sports.. Yet, All is not lost. Badminton 🏸, Athletics, Wrestling 💪, Archery 🏹, Hockey 🏑, Table Tennis 🏓, Lawn Tennis 🎾 etc. are gaining importance again. Still lot to do, To attain a respectable place in the Olympics.

Let's put it simple, because of religion, many Indians are vegans (or lacto-vegetarians), eating beef is a blasphemy for most of the Indians, which is a must for being a high performance powerful athlete. You can do sport anyway, no matter the type of the food, but it's hard (or even impossible) to be competitive in world competitions. In cricket, India is one of the best in the world, I don't know the diet of the best Indian cricketers, but it seems to me a sport where you don't need strength and stamina. Accuracy and timing are very important for cricket. Surely the diet is not the only reason why India is not performing in sports, other things matters too. But you see, Kenya and Ethiopia, at least are able to provide some 'out of the planet' runners. China, another overcrowded country with food shortages, is able to compete USA in Olympics medals table.

Sports at professional level is hard in India. It requires sacrifice and capital to train. Success at it is not confirmed. This puts the individual at a risk for their future growth. Other wealthier countries have unemployment support, But not in India. India does not have a large disposable revenue like other countries, there are other pressing issues. Sports is a luxury for many Indians. Due to large population the race for jobs is extremely high, hence education is a priority. Even after winning medals at olympics the future prospects for a sustained income for the individual is low. A risk of injury could be disastrous. To truly become sporting nation we must first address our basic issues such as education, health, JOBS and infrastructure. Only when Indians are comfortable with their basic needs, will there be large mobilization towards sports. Until then we will just have these one off successes. We have a long way to go! Good luck.

It's because India has 1.4 billion people and countries like Australia and UK winning more, because they encourage their young generations in sports and in every household of India people think sports as an enemy. And most of the Indians just obsessed with watching cricket and forget about other sports. Cricket's obsession should stop in India, 80% of the Indians only love and support cricket.
@YT_C9

That’s why you can’t win an argument with an ignorant. Even universities like Berkeley and Stanford gets more medals in one Olympics than what India got in all Olympics combined.
@anshul6168
@anshul6168 Жыл бұрын
@@YT_C9 Olympics is designed to give advantage to the developed world. Most of medals in these universities are in swimming. India doesn't have any infrastructure for swimming. since countries like US, australia are good at swimming, the number of medals in swimming is disproportionately higher. India is good at events like shooting, wrestling, badminton, all these disciplines have very few medals. Badminton has just 5 Gold Medals, Hockey has 2, wrestling around 10. Swimming has over 40. Then comes useless sports like cycling, rowing , diving, each with a lot of medals, these are sports in which only developed world takes part in. Now they are also promoting unsporty events like skateboarding, wall climbing, break dancing, which are anything but sports. And at last comes athletics in which all european countries use imported African Athletes with genetic advantage. India is growing slowly, and India will give tough competition in athletics to US and other countries, but they will just increase their swimming medals lol
@theawesomeman9821
@theawesomeman9821 Жыл бұрын
@@anshul6168 India has the ability to create swimming pools and programs, its just hard to motivate Indians to swim. And plenty of developing countries get their fair share of medals, just look at China, Russia, Latin American nations, and South Africa.
@anshul6168
@anshul6168 Жыл бұрын
@@theawesomeman9821 You must be kidding, I never said India doesn't have capability to make swimming pools, it's about money. India doesn't have money to make public swimming pools. And there are only a few private swimming pools in a city because it's too costly to maintain a swimming pool. Most Indian cannot afford such luxury. So it's not about motivation to swim, it's about economics. You'll find many children in villages swimming in lakes and rivers, they don't lack motivation to swim but they lack means to get trained for professional level swimming compeitions. So the answer is pure economics. Playing Cricket, Wrestling, Hockey is much more affordable than swimming. Swimming requires much more infrastructure and money.

3:07 ... I think that makes the difference between them and China! India has understood that sport is a fundamental activity that develops talents and interests. China breeds athletes, not because of the background to promote the sport, team spirit, character, leadership strength, because of the people, but to create fame and recognition and perhaps also legitimacy for possible claims (border dispute). India is slow to progress in sport, but that doesn't belittle their culture! ... Germany hasn't won any medals for a long time. That's sport. Perhaps our zenith has come and it is time for a new great nation, ...India!? ;-) Encourage sports more and your children will go and find their way in various sports. I trust your country to become a sporting nation. In Germany we see sport as a compulsory lesson at school and as fun and a hobby in our free time. It also relieves stress from people's minds. Children want to play football, basketball, table tennis. These are the standard sports. More variety brings more momentum and creativity into the minds of young people. Good day. :)

India can never be a sporting nation ! As recognition is given to few sports only , it's really hard to get any incentive , there is lot of politics everyone wants to do buissness. Doing buissness is not wrong but it is sometimes on the cost of quality of building a good sporting career for players. Only few schools promote sports , most schools don't even care what a sports teacher is teaching. Academies are getting costly , coaches get no incentive from Federations. We can no longer play sports in public or residential parks of Delhi , parks are only for show off or walking . ALL coaches don't have access to stadiums or lavish indoor academies , lack of parks to practice sports , lack of space plays a huge role in degrade of sports If you have a big pocket or someone to look after you then definitely u can go on top otherwise it is very difficult and seems delusional to many this why they quit. Moreover getting success in sports and able to earn well takes time , even when you are a coach one has to constantly keep developing skill . Many parents think that student can learn sport in 4 months they don't see that they need patience and it takes years of hardwork lot of setback to get somewhere and get close to perfection. Thus many people switch multiple sports and then leave once they get to higher grade of studies. Those who still practice are called delusional. Not every person can handle such a pressure Not to mention the increase in trend of tuition classes , because of academic pressure even after attending 8 hours of school a child of 3rd or 4th class is made to study tuition in evening, self studying, creativity has ended , when will such a child find time to do serious sports. Parents pay a huge roll here they are willing to pay high tuition fee and 2 hrs of tuition even after 8 hours of school but no one is ready to pay even 1500 rs for monthly training of sports or give min 1 hour properly everyday . Sports is merely considered entertainment not necessity ! I also see parents bieng overprotective little pain or strain in muscle or injury they ask child to quit to save thier lyf they don't encourage them to recover ,find the cause of injury, work on it and continue playing. They will just merely say quit ! , or this is not for u mentality. Doing sports seriously these days is a lot of sacrifice , not everyone have the balls the do it. Getting a proper secure career is difficult and unclear. Most sportsperson turn into coach , in a way where they have no job security. There is so much lack of knowledge how to get proper job based on sport or how to get sponsorship. Another point people just want to make thier children participate in competitions so they can get admission in college or sports qouta , sports shall be done for the passion of sports not for any qouta , all this is for people who have given years of hardwork. Even if govt gives incentives to schools and federations due to greedy people it's never used at right places that is the player Sorry to say but we will never get there !
