I'm still kinda disappointed how anime changed the context of that scene from how it was in the Weekly Sorcerer one-off in the manga, where the chapter starts with Gajeel leaving Mira schackled and gagged in the backroom and then we'd later find out it was just to steal her spotlight and get to do that song number. It was a neat little narrative red herring, when we still had no idea if Gajeel would be trustworthy or not and added a bit to further characterize how cluelessly rough around the edges he was.

If you think about it, the real test of a storyteller is to take someone who you despise and make the audience like him/her. Juvia for instance was on the bad side, but she was never really someone to hate other than she was on the other side. She never did anything really bad, and quickly fell in love with Gray so it became cute, so her switching sides is easy. Gajeel was the person who destroyed the Guild Hall, beat the crap out of and strung Levy, Droy and Jet to that tree. Not only that, but he was just suppose to find a way to get Fairy Tail to attack Phantom, and yet he chose an overly brutal way of doing it. Follow that up with him enjoying it, and later recapturing and beating up Lucy, and it's not easy to like him. So having him join and showing another side of him, of being able to turn a character like that around, is a greater accomplishment. Think about how horrible Crocodile was in One Piece, but come the break out at Impel Down and Marinford and we're cheering for him and he came in clutch.

I love this anime every arc has some epic moments. In this arc there of cause is Natsu forcing his awakening of dragonforce though not my favorite dragonforce awakening. I always love seeing Jellal use meteor and grand chariot. And my favorite moment from this arc is Erzas awakening right after Robs epic speech.
