Excellent photography, I'm jealous. I travel from the West Coast of Canada yearly to see the wonders of Utah. Natural bridges is a spot i highly recommend. On my three trips down to the valley I don't encounter one person. The entire day spent there had the feeling as if I had discovered the area, an amazing experience. Thanks Mads, for bringing my trip to Natural Bridges to me once again.

You're very welcome Mary :) I pack water, food and proper clothing ;) Gear wise the camera I have at that moment, which is some sort of Canon full-frame and the lenses I think I'll need.

Great video, Mads! Encouraging that this park isn't overrun with tourists and photographers... I recently tried my hand at Milky Way photography in New Mexico, and even with the right gear and having studied the relevant techniques, I found it still quite tricky to get a really nice clean image with a compelling foreground that doesn't start to look fake after post processing. I think I had my best luck so far exposing a FG at dusk, and then exposing for the Milky Way a few hours later, but you can still tell it's a composite even after attempting to match noise, sharpness, WB, etc. in Photoshop. Even in a "dark" sky park, there was also still a surprising amount of ugly light pollution visible in the final pictures. I think it might be possible to get better results by long-exposing a FG after dark at low ISO, and then without moving the tripod creating a stacked noise-reduced image of the Milky Way composited using a tool like Starry Landscape Stacker to drop in for the sky. Mads, do you do something similar for your night sky shots?
@MadsPeterIversen7 жыл бұрын
Yeah it can often be annoying. The best way to get around the lightpolution is compositing to my knowledge. I've stacked the milky way a few times, but I've mainly used the same Milky Way shot to most of my composites. Getting a clean shot is the hardest part though.

Hello... First of all congrats on such an amazing journey across USA and some awesome videos and pictures... I have been watching all of them over this weekend... I have a quick question, if you don't mind me asking, about the last image that was shown in this video - around 5:25... I read that ISO was 800 for that image. Have you used any tracker? Also almost in all your night images, the foreground appear very bright, even though there are some large structures included. How do you manage that? Once again, thank you for such an amazing series of videos (Y)
@MadsPeterIversen5 жыл бұрын
Hi, nope I don't use a tracker and the bright foregrounds in this video was because of the moon :)

Mads, what are you using as video camera (and I assume Sophie the voice activated tripod)...and what video editing software...and one more, name of the music and where can you find it? Thanks. These are the best videos I have ever seen.
@MadsPeterIversen7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike. I use a Sony RX100IV as video camera. I use Adobe Premiere Pro CC as editing software and the music I've licensed through Alexander Hitchens. The first track is called Bravery and is not available online as far as I know and the 2nd track is called New Horizons but is also known under another name, but I don't remember that.

Mads,My wife Alison spent the day watching your videos as we are relatively new to landscape photography. Without question your videos are inspiring to any photographer. What would you recommend as an all around canon wide angle lens for the canon line?Thank you for the inspiration,Frank & Alison
@MadsPeterIversen7 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! :) That depends if you're shooting cropped or full frame. For FF I use the 16-35mm f/4 myself, but if you have the money go for the 16-35mm f/2.8 mark III. If you're shooting cropped I was very happy with my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.
