I felt like this video came out of an HVAC museum or something. Beautiful piping job. Couple of things: didn't see a condensate neutralizer, can't tell where the condensate is being dumped. Also, didn't see and ODR sensor, but it probably would be problematic to use with the radiant together with some other (unknown) type of radiation. The minimum firing rate of NFC-175 is about 18kbtu/h -- I'm pretty sure that when the smallest zone calls for heat it will not be able to dump that much (leading to short-cycling). What is the design temp for your location?
@canuckmechanical64903 жыл бұрын
You are correct there is no neutralizer in this case was no really required but normally are installed depending on drainage pipe...about -10 for a design temp it can fluctuate greatly however. Thanks for the kind words :)
@jonpaulscully79512 жыл бұрын
James, looks great. I'm curious: 1. Why are the zones not fed with 1-1/4" pipe? 2. With so many zones, wouldn't the Taco e007 or any other circulator that modulates flow as needed be a batter fit than a single speed circulator? Personal note; I never like to put zone valves so close together; it makes working on them difficult for future diagnosing.

There're so many small details to love about this install that usually aren't present. Such as valves on air bleeders for easy service, temperature gauges, drip leg cap has been lined up for easier painting if required and so much more! However, I'm unsure why dielectric unions were used on the discharge lines for the reliefs. Would standard unions not be sufficient?

True but I wanted something that would go from FIP to copper in one fitting and was a union, hence dialectic

@andylarson35473 жыл бұрын
Wow, now that is a work of art, beautiful! Can you explain the concept of 1st supply, last return?
@keyzielock99703 жыл бұрын
It also goes by the term "reverse return. " It's a method of piping your zones such that the first zone/circuit to leave the manifold/header is last to return. The purpose of piping this way is so that the resistance in each of the zones/circuits is as equal as possible. This in turn helps to balance the flow through each of the circuits. There are some great pictures online that will help you visualize the differences between "direct return" piping and "reverse return". This install is also an excellent example of reverse return.

Multiple questions I'm hoping you can help with... Is there anyway to increase the water pressure coming from that boiler? How should the mixing valve and water flow valve be adjusted? Last, my pressure relief on the top constantly opens and dumps, and it actually has water come out of the top of it also, what could cause this. Thanks for any help you can give from central PA!
@canuckmechanical64903 жыл бұрын
The valve constantly discharging means that the expansion tank could be water logged possibly...increasing water pressure more the likely may not have anything to do with the boiler but the boiler feed valve ...the mixing valve of any should have no more then 110 f for infloor heat
@colleenking5806 Жыл бұрын
Seattle piping inspector told me 16” out from boiler of metal piping is required before going to plastic (red and blue), you don’t have that with your action art beatification install. Ps I’m adding a pair of 1/2” x 16”solid brass pipes after water shut off valves on my D.I.Y. tankless water heater install.
