Yes I agree. Satvic movement is fantastic and I have had tremendous benefits following their diet system partially. I took only good points from them like eating more fruits and salads and of course I reduced junk food considerably but I never stopped eating sabzi roti, rice, dal and milk in moderate quantities. I also do intermittent fasting. But I too feel that their diet system is not for everyone to follow. Just pick up good food habits and that's it !

In southern part our India, everyday during Navaratri 'Sundal' is prepared (each day one type of pulse will be boiled and tossed as prasad). Pulses are consumed along with fruits everyday unlike in northern part of our India.

In north .. they do include peanuts , mahkana, amaranths , buckwheat etc… very rich in protein. So a Hindu fast is very logical and safe. And of course 9 day fast .. won’t make us protein deficient..if we hv eaten well all our lives , a 9 day fast 2 times a year to help our “ ekkagrutta” our will power , our spiritual search won’t kill us. Hari Om . Tat sat.🙏 In the North fasting customs suit their weather conditions , in south navraatri customs suit theirs!! Our ancestors were really great.

We have more variety of pulses and grains to eat.. we have bajra, jowar, makhna, kutki, kangni, makra, javi, jhangora, cheena, kodo, sanwa and many more.. unlike south where mostly people eat starchy rice. I do 9 days of fasting. However, i drink 1 full glass of milk with whey protein once. I only eat twice a day (Bhagar/Moraiyo rice with sweet potato). I do workout in all 9 days of fasting (including deadlifts, squats etc.)... Dont worry about muscle loss, fat loss, etc.while fasting. You can recover again after this 9 days of fasting... It's true that we'll have some muscle loss but in fasting you lose body fat too. Indian diet is full of carbs and our ancestors never had a problem with muscle loss. Only current generation thinks a lot more on protein, muscle loss. If you're not a professional body building athlete you should not worry about protein or muscle loss too much. Our body can still manage for 9 days easily.

It's normal to do 9 days fasting during navratri in common households .... Other than fruits we use kuttu aata ki chapati or syamak khichdi or symak kheer ( all these come under phalahar/ फलाहार)...and additional milk. And you are full of energy for 9 days and being a working women also I never felt hungry or lethergic.

Dear Pal, please do watch the video again. Mdm Subha clearly mentioned it is Navratri Fasting. Meaning it is fasting. Fasting may have a lot of variation, here she said take only fruits and vegetables. Remember we are from ancient beings, we won’t have protein available all the time because those days when we are not hunting we were eating tubers and other form of vegetables to increase variation in our gut bacteria. In other words, this situation obviously telling us we were fasting from animal products which is none other than protein. Our DNA records must built with all these information. So we are not always the animal(protein) eater.

Simple logic our body doesn't like simple work, it only loves hardcore activity by involving a lot of body movement. Here this people keep saying eat this and that. Every person diet and body condition is totally different. Certain people eat very less protein but completely healthy. Some people eat proper diet but unhealthy. Actually, this type of fasting usually many North Indians take, this is a completely traditional belief, and she is telling this diet plan only during Dussera. We are gujrati and pure vegetarian. My dad is 70+, never been to gym, never diet, his diet doesn't have much of protein. All he does is have a good fruits and dry fruits. Even at 70+ he has much better strength and stamina than me and also has good muscle. I think it's about good food during your childhood days and even there after. He doesn't eat any fast food, rarely eats a bite or two of bread. He doesn't even like vegetables much, he likes fruits. He eats all kids of Indian sweets as well but no fast food. I really fail to understand what diet is good, but feel more of fruits should do the trick.

No mistakes in our sanatana dharma practices our practices at festival times or during fasting also has many health related. For example regarding our contest , milk and fruits are food to take during fasting which gives protein and required vitamins and minerals for our health and immunity

The problem is those who believe in their religion, aren't ready to accept that there could be mistakes. Because of this, They'll blindly believe in their faith and reject science. Just see during Nag Panchami. They force the snakes to drink milk. Reptiles can't digest milk, and snakes die after drinking milk. But in the name of religion, they starve the snakes for several weeks before Nag Panchami. And during that day, they force the milk into the snakes.

Fasting is for detoxifying ur body and protein is not required during fasting. She is not talking about intermittent fasting. Protein is essential during normal days for muscle/ body building and not on fasting days. We are fasting to have more healing hours than digestion hours. The lighter the food, healing hours are more and less digestion hours... Kindly mul over it.

Ppl who critisise vegetarian food forget that Most vegetarian states in India have the tallest and most athletic people 😂. There are many vegetarian sources of protein

It is the most basic knowledge haryana (70%), Rajasthan(74%), Punjab(67%) etc all are some of the most vegetarian states and despite being poor as compared to many highly non vegetarian states still they are taller on average and also have the highest number of athletes

@DrPal Sir actually she has not mentioned all items. Normally these 9 days of fast does include curd and stuff (like paratha or roti) made using buckwheat(kutt), Rajgira(amaranthus) which are actually very good source of plant based protein. The only variation comes where one does not much salt and very restricted amount of fat. People have changed their eating by consuming lots of potato chips, kuttu pakora and other junk stuff on the name of fast but traditional fasting method had all necessary elements including carb, protein, fiber and healthy fat

Fruits have less protein but more of natural sugars or simple carbs and vitamins,minerals.. so moderation is better than to eat them as a whole meal as our body needs less vitamins n minerals,fats and more of proteins and carbs for getting enough energy.. Btw this is just my opinion I'm not a nutritionist🙊 and some vegetables can be eaten raw for getting anti oxidants but others should be cooked for proper digestion by the body but some nutrients gets evaporated while cooking but it's ok than to face gas issues due to improper digestion.

Dr. Pal you are totally wrong here. Fasting helps to clean out the junk in our body - Even Dr. Fung of intermittent fasting says so. It looks like you too find satvic lifestyle as a threat to your business and want to knock down this couple. They have 7.12 million followers. Navaratri is something brahmins have been celebrating for generations with no health consequences
