Lets keep it simple: Have lots of variety (rainbow color) of clean, whole/unprocessed foods preferably plant based - conscious timed meals with an eye on your portion size (not your TV) - Exercise at least 20-30min daily, keep yourself happy and positive, sleep and wake up on time, get some sunshine and take a walk with nature and your Self.

My take aways from this very informative podcast 10 plant points per day Gradually increase fibre intake to 50gms per day Fibre intake very very important Carbs not bad, sugar is bad Try oil free cooking for 70% of the meal at least Fiber as snack and nuts with meals Lifestyle changes, sleep early Have fruit before meals Lentils are a very good source of protein Stick to whole things, whole grains, whole fruits, no fruit juices etc Stay away from ultra processed foods Keep fruits in ur kitchen and avoid keeping junks Only 2000 dollars(in terms of daily requirement of calories, on an average) to spend per day, spend each and every penny judiciously,like even a single calorie should be nutritious

Three points I learned from today's podcast: 1) More soyabeans, less soyachunks which is unfortunately a lot more common amongst Indian population. 2) First time I heard about gut microbiome transplantation surgery and how it can impact the recepient cravings 3) Unsalted, unroasted nuts are more nutritious than the roasted, salted ones.

Don’t eat too much carbs - here the carbs are refined carbs - white rice, maida, chips, cakes etc. Eat moderate qty of carbs - whole grains, pulses, lentils. Include protein - mostly vegetarians will never exceed daily protein need, hence no worry for vegetarians on excess protein. Non vegetarians m might exceed protein and hence restrict.

Not a doctor, but eat a lot of protein(I eat meat every day but it depends on your diet preference), lots of veggies/fruits, high fats, low-medium carb. I think generally this works but it can depend on your body though. I also do bjj and gym so it could vary depending on your lifestyle. Dr.Pal brings people from wide spectrum(from lady who preaches high meat/low carb, to someone who is Satvik and says no meat), so it’s more of different perspectives.

I am gonna share some steps which I personally feel will work. 1. Exercise - Start with atleast 5k steps per day to 10k, If feasible Strength training is higly recommended. 2. Limit Junk foods/ Oil Foods/ Sugary foods/ Empty Calorie foods 3. Eat High Fibrous foods - Fruits(1-2 Perday) and Vegetables 4. Plan meals accordingly how Dr Pal Advices, as per circadium rhythm 5. Start with atleast 1g of protein per 1kg of body weight and as you progress slowly increase 6. Try to Limit Carbs - Simple carbs (White Rice and refined grains) 7. Eat healthy fats (Seeds Nuts etc) I think the diet part you gotta make it a lifestyle change rather than dieting for 3months and losing weight and then falling off the wagon and regaining weight. All the very best. I hopt this is a bit helpful.

57:15 what about those who are trying to loose weight/ in a calorie deficit diet and want to retain their muscle: plant based diet cannot entirely help. I agree with everything else she mentioned but not about plant protein being enough for the muscle retention. Plant protein does not have full Amino acid profile(9 amino acids makes a full amino acid profile). Lean animal protein has complete Amino acid profile. Eating way too much legumes can irritate your digestive system too, always a mix of plant and animal protein is good.

Fruit on an empty stomach spikes glucose. That is not good for pre diabetic and diabetic patients.. I start my mornings with healthy fats and some kind of protein . That makes you eat less and crave less for the rest of the day. creating portion control. I would say . Eat fruit during snack times ( between lunch and dinner) instead of tea or coffee. either regards to next fruit to eats - berries, amrood, grapefruit , apples - dragon fruit,and passion fruit , pomegranate.. that’s it.. of course if you can’t find these or not in budget - finance whatever is locally available in season and eat those..

When Roshani say eat your grains, are grains not inflammatory, or only the polished versions of grains like all the whites are inflammatory? Why I am asking is as humans and especially we Indians eat lot of grains (carbs) and put on weight. When Roshani says eat your grains, we moderately eat grains? Please clarify. What should be the portion of your grains in proportion to your veggies, protein and fats in your plate?
@vvratnasekhar58768 сағат бұрын
Grains in her sense mean whole grains, without the bran of the grain removed. When you harvest rice, it has bran, endosperm(the white rice) and the germ, these three combined is called whole grain. We eat white rice, which lack fiber and other imp nutrients which are present in the bran, so that's why she's insisting to eat more grains(whole grains). Some other eg: Millet, Bajra, Wheat, Quinoa. I would recommend whole grains to be 35-40%, Fats atleast 25-30%, Protein 30-35%, Veggies you can have as much as you can. (The trick is our body will tell us when to stop eating if we eat the correct foods and its so rare to over eat on healthy foods especially on veggies)
