Fun fact: Joseph Beyrle had German ancestry, his grandparents were from Bavaria. This came up during his time as a P.OW. with the Germans asking him why he was fighting for the Jews against "his own people." Evidently he voiced his low opinion of the Nazis in response and was knocked out.

My great uncle was in WW2... The family was told he was kia... had his funeral and my aunt was paid what ever restitution the army paid ect.... 2 years later he rolls up alive and well.... had to go through some legal issues to be pronounced alive... my aunts paycheck was garnished to payback the restitution ect

@@Hey_Jamie The term "the Greatest Generation" is thought to have been coined by former NBC Nightly News anchor and author Tom Brokaw in his book by the same name. They rightfully deserve the title though.
