"Play big guys near the hoop, and small guys outside. Big guys are poor 3 point shooters!" That's definitely changed in the last 10-15 years. Nowadays it's common for men 6'10" and above to be 3-point shooters.

Yeah, absolutely true. They call it "positionless basketball" these days. As much as I appreciate players who can do everything, I’m old school and preferred the classic roles and principles.

@@RetroGamingLoft I agree. I miss the midrange game. The game was more dynamic with a mix of post moves, dunks, layups, midrange jumpers, and threes.

32X was the best version as close to the arcade as you could get apart from the Saturn version but it’s loading time was terrible

I don’t like the announcer on this one. I like the first NBA jam better.

i notice in the PS1 version if you jump right in and the first team you play is Minnesota, the game is extremely difficult and the CPU is overly aggressive. If the Cleveland Cavs is the first team you play then it's pretty easy. Pressing start and exiting the game a few times fixes this glitch. The PAL and Japanese port fixes it too.

I noticed that too, but you know, you never really know if it's you playing bad/making excuses or the difficulty level being too hard. After going 0-11 down in the first quarter, I thought Minnesota were going to thrash me, but somehow I re-grouped and went on to beat them (almost) at the buzzer. Glad to hear it's a real glitch, anyway.

@DemiGodX I thought I was crazy but now I know I am not! Whenever I would begin head to head mode as a kid and I was paired up with a team ranked 20 to 27th, the fouling was non stop and a true hindrance to having any fun. I have researched this for a long time trying to find answers/solutions to the glitch.

I had played the arcade version of this me this other kid we chose the Knicks two others chose Bulls we won they lost thanks my experience and played many times gained victory I do have the Genesis version and only two losses one to Miami Heat and the other was too Philadelphia 76ers but the others games win my next team I have to face is Boston from this date

College Slam for PS1 was funnier than this it was more true to the NBA Jam formula, the AI in this one was just too aggressive and couldn’t enjoy it smh

Is it me or did early PS1 games not have that much greater graphics than SNES.

With hindsight, I think you are right. I recently revisited a few early PS1 titles and while the majority are still fun, graphically they are worse than I remembered.
