My father was a marine, and his dad was a tough love man like Benny. My father wasn’t an emotional man, but I watched this episode with him by chance, and he teared up during this part and I realized it was because it reminded him of his fathers death. I didn’t realize how much until I overheard him listening to this part time and time again later that night. My dad was diagnosed with and passed of cancer shortly after. I remember sending this clip to him in the hospital and said ‘I know this reminds you of your dad, but it won’t have to remind me of you, not for a long time.’ Watching this again now is tough. I miss him

Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.

I agree, the Chicago Fire Department has an amazing bagpipe and drum band that plays at the memorial services of firefighters. It is a tradition going back many years, when a majority of firefighters in the department were Irish and Scottish immigrants. I saw a video once of them playing Going Home with the Chicago Police Department's pipe and drum band.

Im no longer in contact with his watch, but wherever i am in the world, whether its UK, NY, Chicago, Paris, Madrid, i always take my time to donate to Firefighter Charities as being a firefighter is a worldwide Brotherhood. My dad died as a deputy chief. Close to 40 years on the job. The department went all out. I had followed in his foot steps. I decided to wear street clothes to the funeral. I had been on of his firefighters for 15 years but I had been his son much longer. I wanted remember him as dad that day not a firefighter.

I used to know a few NYFD firefighters before 9/11 and I am so proud of their sacrifice and I am inspired by them as I know others are too. I love you my friends and I hope you know of all the good you did.

My cousins are retired from the El paso/canatillo fire dept. Firefighters are also first responders same as the military and either type of funeral brings tears to the eyes.

Such a beautiful scene & 51 is always there for each other & the community. Despite the strain between the two, Kelly really gave a beautiful speech but the last words 'sleep tight dad, you earned it' just makes me choke up everytime, reminding me of something similar I said to my dad four years ago when he left this Earth 'It's alright dad, you can let go'

Severide don’t worry I’m only 10 and my dad passed when I was 4 years old. I’m always sad because 6 years with no father is tough. I will always remember my dad. I think of my dad every day.
