Planetside 1 - Galaxy Tower Drop - Azure Twilight 2012

Wanted to help the zerg take control of the tower so after 20 minutes of them just dying we decide to drop the tower and take it back for ourselves. Little resistance by the NC made it an easy capture.

what i don't miss is the pnix spam from behind a hillock from a group of 4-6 giggling derps as they used their anti-tank weapons like camera guided anti-everything mortars better times, better systems. I'm under no illusions as to the engines and tech available however, those were some hard decisions being made for the sale we had and it was rarely reliable once online (I remember 3-5 frequent latency-hackers we had to deal with, always a very specific kit they brought into the towers they camped while being 1-4 seconds out of synch with their warping in-game model).

What a game. Absolutely unforgettable moments with massive player fights. So much nostalgia for the audio and visuals. Easily a game that could have been reskinned for several other franchises. If you played this then you experienced a real time in gaming history. Cheers: Cloudburst.

The amount of Nostalgia with this is unreal. Everything from the "Galaxy"? Is that what the helicopter/plane was called? And the squad emblems on the top to the tower fights. Wow my childhood game growing up.

I have more fond memories of this game than any other online game I've played, but also one of my greatest laments in my outfit not reuniting in PS2.

Yes, it's a galaxy and the thing shooting it was a reaver. I don't have a good memory but I remember things like that and the other aircraft (mosquito and the Wasp introduced later). I really miss the game. Played ps2 previously and it wasn't bad but not really anything like the original. Even the music in the original washes over me with waves of nostalgia, not to mention all the sounds of the weapons, which were so distinctive, you could identify what allies/enemies were around you just from the sound of them.

Only played 2, this game looks awesome. I miss this aesthetic of games. I wish we'd get a modern shooter that looks like Quake/Unreal again, that 2003 aesthetic is DIVINE.

PS1 was THE most epic game of all time. The stories of countless battles passed around like stories of legens around a campfire. I'm happy I got to play it endlessly during it's heydey before BFRs. In fact, so many FPS games of the early to mid 2000's were simply the best. Current titles will never be that good ever again. Mediocrity is here to stay.

BFRs or not. There are no comparisons to a Planetside 2 battle vs a Planetside 1. Maybe it's nostalgia kicking in but there was just something to scavenging your enemy & friendly backpacks to survive base holds or flipping critical facilities neutral in the middle of a 3-way

+OhakoCore Not in Planetside 1 if that's what you meant unfortunately, the servers finally all shut down a few years ago. Naturally, there was a big party beforehand, the sky was full of Reavers and Mosquitos. I played PS2 for a bit but it wasn't especially reminiscent of PS1, though not a bad game.

Imagine if PS2 had simply been an engine upgrade. . .. The new base design was terrible, sure the coridoor sections of the old had their issues but it was defensible, the atatckers couldn't cut you off entirely from key locations using tank-spam and the removal of half the specialised bases and map-linked tech upgrades turned a decent combat operations experience into F2P Battlefield:EA with pay-to-skip macrotransactions. Always had fun when our outfit taught you guys how to spec-ops properly :)

Good load No EMP on drop No EMP nades for thumper. Lucky that boomer wasn't manned. Nice spacing between max units. I loved PS1 due to the combat meta and sops necessary for a great outfit.

I also miss the sniper duels and rabbit-ball and single-handedly turning the tide of a massive battle by flanking with a lancer taring up the enemy flails and AMSes and stuff. Best MMORPG ever. Just never enough people on when I want to play anymore. =( Sony just botched the release too hard smh

~LOOKS~ a shame the devs abandoned EVERYTHING of merit that made the original compelling a lot was added in post-launch but the vast and open-plan base design still lets the attacking forces totally lock down the defenders via massed HE-tank-spam. Then there's the biolab entrance-portal camping from 5-8 "snipers" nests (using bombs, missiles and emplaced engineer machine-guns) still, I do need to check on the state of the game, it's been a while and that massed FPS combat it's is near impossible to scratch now. Plus I hear they have the one thing I always wated added to PS1, BF2142 style titan-airships.

i never played this but i think that door hacking should be in ps2 or were you can hack or blow open doors hacking might take longer but be quieter and the oppisite with blowing open a door

Oh, you mean like in Republic Commando. That will really add new combat strategies, think about it: you can close and lock doors and windows of base buildings to prevent them from coming in easily, in order to breach trough you will either have to use 2 C4 bricks or you can hack the door. Blowing it up will be faster but will alert the base of your presence, meanwhile hacking it is quieter and slower, allowing you control the doors. Maybe add a mainframe terminal to controll all doors and windows remotely too.

over promised, under developed plus they cut features for launch that made the original compelling then added pay to skip macro transactions idiot devs tried to turn one of the best combined arms & objectives games in existence into battlefield heroes the god damned air superiority fighter needed an upgrade to come with flares FFS, anyonee with the lock-on missiles could farm any aircraft in sight for massive bonuses because the few people with flares and missiles tended to avoid each other until no one else was left.
