One thing I find so interesting is that NKP 765 and NC&StL 576 have the same numbers just arranged differently
@AlTilleyTheBum-pt4mx4 ай бұрын
Oh shoot, you’re right! It can’t be a coincidence that their whistles were switched between each other at the time.
@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan4 ай бұрын
@@AlTilleyTheBum-pt4mx the whistles weren’t switched 765 is equipped for secondary whistle valve behind the smokestack to install a secondary whistle Pere Marquette 1225 has the same feature main whistle for both locomotives are mounted on the steam dome and this wasn’t the first time that 765 had a secondary whistle I recalled that she once wore a PRR 3 chime whistle when she ran excursion from Orville Ohio to Columbus Ohio on what would become the Ohio Central Railroad back then it was still owned by Conrail

@Rich Guggenheim It is. It's a Hancock 3 Chime (3 Note) long-bell superheated steam whistle. These whistles are common on steam locomotives such as SP&S 700, SP 4449, UP 844, UP 3985, UP 4014, N&W 611, WMSR 734, WMSR 1309, PRR 5550, and NCST&L 576.

@MiddleTennesseeRailProductions4 жыл бұрын
More like a SP&S #700 & pre-2011 UP #844. They did hook up a steam generator to the whistle roughly a half-year before they moved the #576 and it sounded almost exactly like #844 did before her whistle was replaced after returning from her tour in Arizona in 2011. That -5 psi certainly makes a difference. #765 runs at 245 psi while #576 runs at 250 psi. But #844 runs at 300 psi, which her original Hancock was built for.
