I was shocked years ago when I found out that the PC version and console version of this game was different (I only played the PC version). Then seeing the huge difference between the two, and later found out it was because they had a new game engine in which the PS1 wouldn't run but the PS2 would and instead of waiting they made this.

I have the PS1 version, but have never played it since it doesn't wanna boot up on my PS2 for whatever reason. I came here to see how it differs from the PC version, which I grew up with. I think the only things super different are the menus and the hud, but other than that this is my complete childhood right here. Just wish it could install on Win7, same with Road Wars (super obscure, but absolutely amazing, racing title from '99)

Probably the best PS1 NFS game I've played. Has a distinct career(a) mode and driving licenses. It has pretty much everything you could ask from a driving game at that time (except more than 1 brand, of course.). The only thing that makes me wanna kill this game are the f******** lampposts and the signals. They make me want to cry after I crash my car into them and suddenly the car has 1k in damage and you also lose the race. Porsche/10

I played this game back in the day and spent several hours trying to like it, and even then I thought it was just an average racing game, yes the graphics were somehow impressive but not really better than Gran Turismo in any way. The sense of speed was horrible due to a very poor framerate performance. Need for Speed High Stakes is MUCH better than this even in graphics I think.

i'm a huge psx fanboy, i played the pc version first, and no, the pc version was way superior, but the psx version was awesome too
